They’re going to get along great.

Again, called it. If Typh had been a bit more courteous, the Captain would have been more helpful, including reminding him of anything he might have “forgotten.”

Seems like you missed the point of the gag.

They’re both a lot alike and they both pulled the “But they don’t know that”.

But if you want to focus on the narrative that Typhan was being rude, go ahead.

I’m focusing on the fact that the third request is NOT in reserve because Typh doesn’t know that. And Typh doesn’t know that because the Captain felt no special need to remind him.

Because Typh being rude is like being a customer who thinks that being nasty and unpleasant to employees working in a service industry will get them what they want. It doesn’t make them more helpful, it just makes them “forget” about anything you might be entitled to that you didn’t know about. (that, plus spit in your food and other little petty but untraceable acts)

And Typhan-Knee felt no need to remind her that she didn’t need to eat that much. Once again, Typhan got what he wanted out of this exchange, so clearly he didn’t need to act differently.

And Typhan is happy with having a place to train and get Special attention from the his new favorite chef, so he’s good for now anyway.

And, they still have that third request in reserve

The helpfulness only began after Tiff whipped out the Left Hand of the Crown. After that, the Captain had little choice, regardless of Tiff’s prior behavior. If Tiff had been nicer, so might the Captain but she would have ended up exactly where she is now.

*He and i doubt it, they clearly prejudged Typhan-Knee.

Speaking of ‘lack of knowledge’: the ‘gullet’ is not the stomach, it’s the oesophagus (or ‘food pipe’) 😛

I don’t know that Typh is aware of the distinction. Or cares. 😀

Yeah, understand that (they are a barbarian afterall 😛 )
Correct term wouldn’t have worked as a pun though

Well, idiomatically, it’s where you put food.

Everyone’s saying that Typh should be nicer, I’d like to point some things out.
    1. Typh is a confident adventuring barbarian.
    2. Typh has been insulted several times by someone who should have been a bit more courteous, regardless of being a prisoner
    3. Typh is being banished, so who cares if some people he never sees again dislikes him.
    4. Typh hates wasting time.

That and a few other things, it’s surprising he hasn’t hurt anyone yet.

We’ve seen other “barbarians” from Typh’s culture. We’ve also seen them being very courteous and civil towards others – with the exception of Typh’s father, who was largely agreed to have been a total jerkwad by pretty much everyone.

If anything, Typh not having hurt anyone yet is a sign that he has both started to overcome his poor upbringing at the hands of Daddy “rape the girls I said the GIRLS not the boys,” and also a sign of character growth (Because “hurting people for not being sufficiently courteous” is a thing he did in previous story arcs… it’s why Typh was fortunate that the king’s bodyguards elected to take him alive rather than chop him into tiny bits).

    Eee.

In that first panel Typh looks like V’s mask.
