Quite possibly to the surprise of no-one, the largest segment of the audience for Exiern by far is based in the United States of America.

So, we’re marking this moment celebrating independence with long time Exiern image captioner Sean Harrington finally being trusted with making an image of his own for this series acknowledging our largest six audiences by geographical location. Eagle-eyed viewers might have noted we still have numbers 3 and 4 to go.

Click here to see the Dark Reflections take on Independence Day (and an actual eagle!).

Design completely by Sean bar my suggestion of a general suggestion of a costume in the ballpark of the Statue of Liberty and one of those American flag motif-themed dresses those online retailers roll out around this time of year. Even though they happen to have numerous names and websites (I happened to get this design off Rosewe), you just know they’re all the same company being supplied by the same set of warehouses given they have the exact same quantities listed as being in and out of stock for the same item with the same image being used.

Oh yes, by the way Sean has done most of our Valentine’s Day Sex Drive images since we started taking part in 2017 as some of which can be seen in the archive, the uncut versions will eventually make our new section featuring all past voting incentives from both Exiern and Dark Reflections here (and then other images not from the main storylines when those run out – we’ll find something).

You might also have heard of his webcomic Spying With Lana (I believe it’s come up here on occasion) that has now been running weekly with at least one actual story page without fail for over ten years and more than 800 all up to date.

Yes, we’re aspiring to get as close as possible to the same (we’ve managed the at least a page a week since the start as well as far as I know, it’s … just whether the page in question is part of continuity that might be the issue here …) but this … detour (as we’re very generously calling it) from the main plot was necessary for various reasons to help rebuild the buffer and avoid the weekly rush to have a page ready (and which we were stumbling just a bit just before the last month or so was deployed to help reset things).

Anyway, as stated when this current diversion began … the main plot returns on Monday, July the 8th 2019.

We’ll hopefully see you back then!

We’re entering for a second year Lana’s Sexy Summer Swapmeet! Once again, Sean Harrington of Spying With Lana will be hosting a special Exiern themed image on Top Webcomics here or click the banner above (caution NSFW!) and we will be hosting reciprocal images here and here or click the respective banners below.

This year, we’re taking a turn to the dark side as it’s Tiffany from Dark Reflections and her turn to be depicted by Sean this year. Our contributions are both by regular Exiern artist Antipus this time. Special thanks to Sean for captioning our contributions to his event, both of which were based on media from the 80s.

After you’ve seen the respective images, you can learn more about the source material for each here (text), here (video) and here.

As an added bonus, all past Top Webcomics voting incentives are going to be featured here (and Comic Fury mirror here) at the rate of one a day until they’re all uploaded at which point we’ll update with the previous month’s incentive once they cease to be current and intersperse that with other material not used on the main sites for each story.

This is the last week of a break from the main storyline while buffers both physical and metaphorical were being recharged. Today’s excellent image is both marking Canada Day as well as acknowledging the source of our second largest audience.

It was made by longtime contributor Marshall Reeves who is also well known to us as the creator of the webcomic Yesterday Bound and is himself is from Canada.

Marshall in showing Typh and Peonie on their break from the main plot during a visit to the Canadian Rockies decided to eschew the usually expected stereotypical Canadian imagery. Well, most of it anyway.

Today’s image also marks Marshall graduating to captioning his own work this time as well.

Additional image on this Canada Day over at Dark Reflections here.

See you back here in three days for another Exiern and Dark Reflections image this coming Thursday.

Believe it or not, though as things currently stand we actually do want Exiern to still be around and active in 2049. It might be just a little different, though. Like even on a whole new story arc and everything! We can only but live in hope.

All booping courtesy of Sean Harrington, the creator of Spying With Lana and a regular guest artist for some years now. More of his work for us coming very soon!

More nightmare fuel courtesy of Brett Neufeld of Marblegate available right now over at Dark Reflections here.

The movie Bladerunner was released on June 25th 1982. However, it was set in 2019 and that year which once seemed so far away has now since arrived.

So to commemorate the occasion, please enjoy this page by Sean Harrington of Spying With Lana.

The book it was based on however (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) originally set it in 1992, not unlike the recent Dark Phoenix movie which also got a mention here recently.

A sequel (Bladerunner 2049) was set 30 years after the original and didn’t get released until 35 years later.

See you back here for the follow up to this page in 3 days.

In the meantime, please consider contemplating a sci-fi classic and its distinctively well-known soundtrack by Vangelis, the incredibly intriguing (and difficult) path to the big screen as documented in the book Future Noir by Paul Sammon (an intriguing story in its own right), a quite different but classic novel that it is based on (I’d strongly recommend it, it’s a quick read) as well as a beautifully illustrated and rendered comic book adaptation of the original novel. I strongly recommend looking for as many of these if you can, they’re well worth it.

Also think about joining Typh and his contemplation of where his life has been, where it is and where it is going as well as the giant presence of Peonie, her life and how it has been looming over his for some time now and most likely some time to come.

Yes, it’s possible this image might be also acting as a bit of a metaphor for this story as well as a tribute marking a milestone of another which also has had several different versions release during its lifetime as well. You can’t necessarily rule out the possibility of more versions in future either.

New world building image now over on Dark Reflections here.

As some of you may already know, Jake Richmond is the creator of the webcomic Modest Medusa. You may also know him from one of his other works based on Avatar: The Last Airbender follow up The Legend of Korra, Asami Loves Korra.

He’s very kindly produced a couple of commissions for us clearly inspired by the latter. One here and one on Dark Reflections.

I think you can see where this week’s page is going. Click here to see Dark Reflections and its take on this situation here as it takes this theme and keeps on running with it.

Of course, Exiern: Dark Reflections has a different take on who should be on top as you can see here. Both versions are by Marshall Reeves of the webcomic Yesterday Bound.

OK, so here’s the current situation. Publication of the main story had to take a bit of a break due to production reasons. However, we could see this situation would be arising sooner or later in advance so we’d started building up alternative pages for this very occasion. For example, the Game of Thrones referencing page was actually meant to be part of this set but the circumstances of needing a new page urgently and the co-incidental ending of the show that particular week (plus the image just happening to have thrones in it – it didn’t start life having anything to do with Game Thrones originally) saw it being used early.

However that only staved things off for a short while and we’d much rather have long uninterrupted runs of consecutive pages than more frequent smaller breaks which would likely be the case without a story hiatus. The good news, we have enough images saved up from multiple guest artists with the net result being there’s actually going to in effect be more than one page a week from this week, either through a page here and a page on Dark Reflections going up the same day at the very least but also even more than one page a week here at least some of the weeks going forward. Then there’s going to be contributions to other sites as well.

So, in effect there’s actually going to be more art all up until the main story resumes on Monday, July the 8th 2019. The final aim is to eventually not have these breaks in the narrative happen as often going forward, followed by hopefully one day updating the main story more than one page a week on a regular basis. However, that’s all structural things for the future we’ve been working on for some years now and there’s still more that needs to be done before we can successfully do this. It’s the goal we hope to ultimately reach, of course.

But for now, please enjoy the upcoming content from several guest artists going forward in a variety of locations between now and when the story resumes. There’ll be directions as each new piece goes up either with us or someone else. There’s a lot we hope you’ll look forward to and enjoy when you get to see it!

Until next week everyone!
