Just letting everyone know we’re having a commemoration to farewell to The Adventures of Dr McNinja (which is coming to a close very soon).

It’s one of the webcomics that have been very good to this one. So to mark the occasion, we’re trying to break the one-day record for most page views because well, why not? So you might have noticed an ad or two around for Exiern out there more than usual and including on The Adventures of Dr McNinja for the last day or two … Just thought you’d all like to know.

@Shan how does that comemorate Dr. McNinja? It seems a little self serving to be honest.

    It’s not a little self-serving, it’s very self-serving.

Any excuse for a party, right?

Relax, 70% of a very sizeable ad fee goes to the creator and he and I have communicated about the ridiculously high prices ads can have the bids go up to. I also talked to him about how to get a set of his signed Dr McNinja books. It’s all in good fun and we’ve even all talked about it.

Just wanted to ask for some feedback on the visibility of the art and text. I bumped up the font size again, and although I love the border Antipus has been putting around the pages I trimmed it off this one. Any better?

Also, major points for anyone who knows exactly where I pulled the TITLE of today’s page. It is a direct quote from something.

    I like the line. 🙂

I don’t know the reference but the line does well by itself.

@Shan: I hope you make your page-views record.

@ Scott – I honestly don’t know, I didn’t look at the page (you know why).

@ Cerulean Lion – It’s not my record, it’s going to be ours. It’s another experiment with long-term implications for the whole webcomic (hopefully good implications). Look up the Red Queen Hypothesis on Wikipedia. You have to keep trying to grow or else!

I don’t like the new art as of Rubber and Glue. It’s the eyes and faces… and facial expressions.

@Evenas. A cubic foot of gold weighs about 1000 lbs. The cart is estimated (by me) to be about 6x3x2 in size. Assuming there is about 50% air space, that makes 36 x 500 = 18,000 lbs. How much can you buy with 9 tons of gold in this kingdom?

Plus, their carpenters must make REALLY good wagons.

Mud to boot– the one in the short dress is wearing red high heels- /SMH. This wouldn’t happen in mud, for one thing- or even wet dirt. (The heels sink into mud, just so you know) And the short dress and heels seems way out of character for anyone we have seen in this universe. Jarring actually. Otherwise, love the new art, ready for storyline to move on(what happened to dragonlady?) and still love this webcomic.

@ScottHicken Hmm. I seem to remember that Billy Crystal said that they hopefully wouldn’t do a third City Slickers movie because they’d have to name it “City Slickers III: Beating A Dead Horse”, but that’s a close as I can get. This certainly seems like the Legend of Curly’s Gold, though. Hehe.

…geez, I haven’t seen those movies in ages now. Should probably add them to the list of things I don’t have time to do. x_x

I will have to go with the high heels having some form of enchantment on them that keeps them from sinking into the ground.

O,o How did they get that wagon through the mud?? I’m guessing the shoes aren’t the Only thing magicked. Otherwise, somebody’d need to invent a tractor to pull the sucker out.

Just because there is a bit of dust/mud on their shoes, does not mean that where they are standing “now” is a slop of wet goo.

Well, after the big 2 day experiment to see how much traffic can be boosted, a new record was set in the total page views of a page somewhere on the site. These are how Project Wonderful measures views, so what Google Analytics comes up with as a measurement for example could be different.

Anyway, this was the highest ever day according to PW so far in total page views of about 147,000 (I think the old record was 113,000).

Unique page views were not a record at about 3,500 (that’s been around 3,800, I think) but it is up about 400 to 500 to what it’s been recently on new page day.

Well, this and more is all very valuable information going forward in helping to keep things going forward and hopefully getting larger and more successful in future too. You know with things like the best strategies and best use of that advertising dollar going forward and the like.

Congratulations everyone, we did … something here today.

A thing. Whatever it was, we did it!

Just so you know, there is no possible way that cart could hold that much gold. The density of gold is 19g/c^3 so a solid quantity of 1 meter by 1 meter by 0.5 meters would weight 9.6 metric tonnes. A modern pickup truck could hold about 1 tonne before the axles break, and those are forged steel axles. that wood cart and its wooden wheels would have broken under one twentieth of the gold shown. see it visualized with size comparisons here. http://demonocracy.info/infographics/world/gold/gold.html
you can see that 10 tonnes of gold looks approximately equal to the amount in the cart.

That’s because it’s made from magic flying wood. You know, the stuff they make witches brooms from. From those flying man-eating space trees. Either that or it’s all chocolate filled. Honestly, I’m going to go with the former, that is a lot of gold. And I haven’t seen much chocolate there. The chocolate might be worth more, going by medieval spice prices.

short dress, high heels is court fashion. the cart is not sold gold, statues, trophies, plates, and other shapes leave air spaces. so redo your math.

  33. Naroji
    August 7, 2016, 2:05 pm | # | Reply

Yes, Gene N, he should redo his math… because the small spaces which are not filled with coins.

Assuming that even half of that cart’s pile consisted of “air spaces”, the cart would still weigh 5 tonnes, while a modern pickup truck could only haul 1 tonne. I guess what I’m trying to say here is…

No. He does not need to redo his math, and you are silly for suggesting that he should have.

Not to mention some of those pieces are worth more for their shape. And there Gems in there and The kid took that Magic Eye out of that pile so who knows what else might be in their that the church missed! Wear did that Bitchy magic book go?

It wouldn’t be the Internet (Subcategory: Webcomics) if it wasn’t this way.

Don’t worry, the omnipresent Mandela Effect will fix all this so that there never was a problem, factual error or discontinuity in the first place.

… actually, now that I think about it, asking what Bing is isn’t a differentiator as one common thing across all universes is that everyone asks what it is.
