“What if he’s sick and I have to check on him?”
Presented as if it’s an idiot’s question… but all I can think about is how many people die in police custody every year because the cops refuse to let them have their medications, or provide basic first aid, or call a doctor, or…
@Hinoron – Certainly a legitimate and real concern, Hinoron. This quote is meant to be a callback to this strip – http://www.exiern.com/2005/11/14/no-key/ – which was a skewering of the fantasy/scifi trope heroes often use to trick enemy guards and escape (most recently I saw it in an episode of Star Trek). This did always strike me as odd, because basically it shows the “heroes” taking advantage of actual human empathy and playing it as a weakness, the reward for which was the guard being attacked and probably punished by their villain boss. Not the most “heroic” thing to do. And certainly a practice actual police should be commended for.
Clearly, Urtica DIDN’T love this person. Otherwise, s/he would have been given a proper burial in a tomb or mausoleum. Even if it was an unmarked grave, burial would be the usual form of interment. If he was worried about the person magically resurrecting (not something I’d rule out in this comic), he could always try cremation and placing the remains in a sealed container. Something else is at play here. I wonder if any guard ever got curious about what was happening and, if so, what happened to the guard.
Not necessarily. If it was a loved one who nonetheless betrayed him, or the kingdom, he couldn’t exactly honor them with a proper burial. Even though he’d do what he had to do, it doesn’t mean he loved them any less. He just loved them less than he loves…himself. 🙂

Clearly loved him… so much that he made him into a secret lock. But what does it hide?
Okay, so it wasn’t a flashback to an earlier time with Bohrs and Neils
Hmm, is that a bullet? Or simply a message canister? o_O
It’s the key to the Urtica-cave!
@Sam S – Hahaha, unofficially that is totally the skull of William Shakespeare!
Alas, poor Yorek. I have no idea who he was Horatio.
BTW: second panel: Whose, not who’s. Possessive not contraction of “who is.”
Yes, whose. Also “they say it is an emergency”, not “they say its an emergency”.
No, “they say it’s an emergency” — it’s a contraction of “it is”
@Frith Ra
There’s an infinite number of monkeys outside who want to talk to you about this script for Hamlet they’ve worked out
Quick fix: Throne.
As usual, Urtica keeps his secrets close to his chest. Possibly TOO close…..
Am I the only one who thinks Neil and Bohrs are actually giving Peonie lessons in swordsmanship?
I like those new guards, they are very well drawn.
I particularly enjoy the second panel, it turned out well. 🙂

I remember there was an odd thing way back in the comics. Some sort of mechanical infection that was considered super dangerous.
Could it be that the King chained up an infected loved one and that metal is all that’s left.
