WHOO-HOO! She’s BACK!
A Little Upset, but travel worthy.
Wrong prediction. No Sword, Pole, or pointy Stick – looks like no more delay for our group to get out of town … unless the town folk do their own kind of delay.
FIGHT!
Something that might be useful for the artist is generally when you’re on a horse, even bareback with your legs hanging, your knee tends to be a lot more forward just because it’s the most comfy way to sit. At the moment the unicorn sort of looks like he’s about half a foot wide or else how would Tiffany’s legs be able to hang straight down from the hip. Kind of messes with the brain O.o
I’d say both. Their daughter was essentially kidnapped, raped REPEATEDLY, and killed. I wouldn’t blame them for being less than pleased at meeting the child of said rape, especially considering said child has her own Dark and Troubled past.
I wish to preface this with the statement that I know very little about what Scott plans to do, so this is just as much conjecture as anyone else’s statements:
Personally, this strikes me more as Tiffany’s general manner than anything else. She’s done what she wants to do, and now wants to get back on task. I think it is dangerous to assume anything “went south” based on this.
Yay! Tiff’s got her menacing glare back! I’ve missed it. She’s gotten too girly for my tastes, lately. Now that she’s back among ‘civilized’ folk, she can go back to being the mean-spirited barbarian everyone expects of her.
I think Rave is right, that a bit of reference would have helped the riding pose, but it’s pretty minor for us non-riders – I wouldn’t have realized if I hadn’t read the comments.
Anyway, I’m liking the page overall – lovely grumpy expressions and dialogue.
@Jo If you think her legs are ‘obviously” hanging appropriately, then you obviously never owned and rode a horse. Our hips neither do spread out that wide without pain, never mind being bounced around by even the pace of a walk, much less trot (the most uncomfortable pace), but the legs being being raised up lets your weight be spread across your thighs while you are gripping with your knees. I have ridden, taken lessons, owned more then one horse, and one of those (Anglo-Arab) I never once rode with a saddle, or bridle for that matter. One of those rare bonds that happen where you need neither. He was also my last.
Having your legs straight down is begging to have the equivalent of repeatedly being punched in either the balls or the box, depending on your equipment.
@Sleel I have owned and rode horses. It doesn’t really matter if her leg is in the correct position or not, since this is a fantasy comic. People really read too much literal into it. Enjoy the story and stop nit picking.
Really? So since it’s fantasy everything is fair? Hey, i dont need to know how to draw, everything is fantasy! My character changes appearance from panel to panel? Fantasy! Let’s not give any critizism that could improve the artist’s technique, everything is perfect because… fantasy!.
As a side note, the light is coming from behind Tif but her front is the one illuminated as if the wood dude was the source of it. And for f!!!s sake, no it’s not because of “fantasy!”. A good artist makes mistakes and learns from them, evolving into something awesome. So dont hinder that process.
@Fenix: we are not talking about placement of legs on a horse, but rather a unicorn.
At any rate, for riding without bridle, saddle, stirrups, here is an inspirational movie. One sees quite a bit of what he does with his legs, but of course one has to keep in mind that the point of riding a horse is telling the horse where one wants to go, and the point of riding a unicorn is more likely staying on when the unicorn goes where it considers best.
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
The Unicorn looks somewhat upset and Tiff appears either flustered or upset herself.
I guessing her renioun may not have gone as well as she hoped.
Yeah, that Unicorn is obviously having none of that.
Shame. Was hoping to see more of that elf from the previous comic!
Still no sword. And no saddle, no pack-roll, no nothing.
Unicorn doesn’t like “bindings”
Yeah, seems like either the reunion went south or some danger is approaching Neese.

Apparently firewood’s never seen a barbarian riding a unicorn

I wonder if it was her one Grandparent or both that had a Problem?
I’d say both. Their daughter was essentially kidnapped, raped REPEATEDLY, and killed. I wouldn’t blame them for being less than pleased at meeting the child of said rape, especially considering said child has her own Dark and Troubled past.
Uni looks like his(her?) usually grumpy self 😀
Uhl: yes, that’s the way to do things, blame the child of the rape for the rape and death
” blame the child of the rape”
Fair? As the rape itself. Human? All too.

It is quite obvious that her leg is bent appropriately, shadows and the position of her calf and foot are the signs.
I think her look is more “Why didn’t you leave like I told you to?”
And the Uni doesn’t like the way the Tree dude is checking him/her out.
Mr. Unicorn doesn’t like the golem very much.
Very good point Chem.
@Chemiclord: tru dat
Yay! Tiff’s got her menacing glare back! I’ve missed it. She’s gotten too girly for my tastes, lately. Now that she’s back among ‘civilized’ folk, she can go back to being the mean-spirited barbarian everyone expects of her.
‘Mean spirited’? She has never seemed that to me, grumpy and punchy sure, but never seemed ‘mean spirited’

Wait… you can accept unicorns, magic & dragons… but the placement of legs on a horse in a fantasy comic, that’s just unrealistic.
The things people choose to nitpick about.

It’s not a tame beast.
Unique ..Funny if he needs a Unique Mount to say break a curse. Might not take no as a Answer. Worse if he needs to say Sacrifice it.
