Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
Well, not entirely soft… but she’s moderating her violence a bit more than in the past. Her “parcel” is conscious, and by all indication, completely unharmed by the experience…
@Bob, I presume that the white “sleeves” are some kind of frill outer covering, and that the sleeves underneath is the same color as her dress, maroon.
That said, I love the way Typh has learned to moderate her rage. It makes her a much cooler character.
Olivia apologizing to Urtica implies she really was acting under his orders. If indeed that’s the real Urtica.
And Peonie’s expression indicates she’s till ticked with Daddy.
This is why Urtica, if he were serious about the whack-a-king security plan, should have left specific orders concerning his daughter, orders that would include assuring her that he was not being held against his will, that her royalty was recognized, and that she would be conducted to him as expeditiously as possible. Stonewalling, as Olivia did, just causes a ruckus.
I must say that I’m enjoying this probably more than I should. The comic feels like it’s taking the comedy from the earlier run and mixed it with the later run’s characterizations. It feels like a mix of the best elements of both and this just adds to the original charm of the comic, from way back then.
And to put it in perspective, I’ve been with the comic when the art was… far different (this included retconning a certain scene with metal flesh out of existence)… yeah, that long.
@Dingo Actually ‘Highness’ was historically used for Kings and Queens as well as Princes and Princesses. ‘Majesty’ was reserved for an Emperor or Empress. It’s only relatively recently (early 20th century Britain) that ‘Majesty’ has been employed when addressing a reigning King or Queen.
I suspect the King is in a Coma or Kidnaped and she Talking to the Queen When Olivia said your Highness!
Too much is going on and she hiding something.
I Noticed Niel and Bohr did not try and Stop her this Time .Unless I miss my guess they did not Like the smell of this…

Remember that from Victoria I on until three quarters of the way through George VI’s reign, the English monarch was addressed as the Queen Empress or King Emperor (of India). They just didn’t drop the honorific when they lost the title.
Ok I was wrong Tiff took the high side of the low road, implied violence.
As for if the King is incapacitated I think it’s clear Olivia was talking King and Queen when she said Highnesses.
What I really love here is the look on Tiff’s face as she explains things to Olivia, a look that says she really, really would enjoy it if she were given an excuse to carry out her threat. I have fallen in love with her all over again.
Just pointing out, Olivia said “Your HighnessES”, as in plural, as in she’s talking to both of them – with how hard she was stonewalling, looks like the coitus interruptus theory might have weight.
I assume we are entering the Queen’s thrown room. Urtica is in hiding according to Olivia. The Queen will not be so easily trussed up and bashed into doorways in order to be led to the King. The roomful of guards with crossbows makes it harder to man-handle the Queen.
I’m wondering how Nils reacts when the Queen sends Peonie to her room for being such a child.
Just noticed Olivia said “Your Highnesses”. Maybe King Urtica is there. Either that or the Queen has a son whom Urtica has already been conned into putting in line for the thrown, you know, just in case anything happens to Urtica and Peonie. Who would run the kingdom if something happened to them? Succession is always of great importance to Queens.
For Bohr and Niels well both stated many times they take orders only from king. Despite being assigned by king Olivia is not their superior. Also Niels orders were escorting princess until she returns safely and he can get new orders so far there was noone who can order Niel’s (aka King) that is why there is no need for them to stop typh when they did at first time it was to protect king but now king is not on sight 😛
@greenstalker Agreed but an additional Factor is there his most trusted personal Body guards and Olivia basicly saying the King safer without them Niel might of been with the Princess but Bohr should be with the King. And there Bull Shitter meters must be going off!

I laughed a bit too hard.
she sure knows how to convince
Hah. I already like this new direction a lot. Good to see that Typh hasn’t gone soft.
Well, not entirely soft… but she’s moderating her violence a bit more than in the past. Her “parcel” is conscious, and by all indication, completely unharmed by the experience…
Not that far from what i suggested … but more elegant.
Typh has just gained a sense of implied violence works much better then actual violence on certain people.
How did Olivia’s sleeves became the same color as her dress? Anyway I like how Tiff handles both guards and her captive!
Typh’s left hand should be a bit higher ;>

Take a closer look. Her forearms are tied too, all the way up to her elbows.
ROFLMFAO I laughed so hard out loud at this. This was awesome.
Whoops posted too soon. Ahem. To tie her like that, you’d need to remove those white coverings.
“Ramming SPEED!”
More likely the sleeves is simply a colouring error, it has happened in the past
Guessing that Princess P-cups just interupted the royal nuptuals/honeymoon/heir-making-attempt 😀

Just want to say, thanks for bringing the jokes back. 😀
Minor typo in Tiff’s second-last bubble: should be ‘First’ (or ‘Fist’ ;)) not ‘Firt’
Bets on coïtus interruptus…?
I approve of this method of negotiation.
This is quite possibly one of the funniest pages in the comic to date.
KLN B)
I thought it would be wise to address the fact that a King is addressed with ‘Your majesty’.
A Queen however is addressed by ‘Your Highness’ (unless she is King)
“You wouldn’t say, “Your Hyenous…”
BTW, where’s Bohr? Probably just didn’t fit in the final panel.

I’m positively a fossil.
Hell yeah, Tiff is great.
Ha! Typh is awesome!
If people are going to call you a barbarian, you may as well go with it. 🙂
Lol first time I’ve laughed because of the strip in a while.
David Tennant just called. He says he wants Olivia to return his glasses and the large blue box.
“You even showed me where to find this rope!”
Something you want to tell us, Olivia…?

That’s kinky.
On a completely unrelated note, I am no longer gay. Got a girlfriend and stuff. Life is weird.
See? There are so many valuable uses for Rope.

I like where this is going. I love the sense of humor and hijinks. I am happy. 🙂
How about Olivia’s look in the first panel as Tiff was telling her what would happen to her if Olivia wasn’t forthcoming as to where Urtica was. 🙂
What I really love here is the look on Tiff’s face as she explains things to Olivia, a look that says she really, really would enjoy it if she were given an excuse to carry out her threat. I have fallen in love with her all over again.
Brandi: that’s the thing, Tiff didn’t threaten, she stated what would happen, and gave Ms Palms a choice
And as for the condition of Kingie: do you really think Princess P-cups would be so calm inthe last panel if there was anything wrong with her daddy?
And neither Bohrs nor Niels is on this page at all
I must say TYphan-Knee has been working on her art of negotiation …and it is beautiful.
Just pointing out, Olivia said “Your HighnessES”, as in plural, as in she’s talking to both of them – with how hard she was stonewalling, looks like the coitus interruptus theory might have weight.
Alright! I got a good laugh at this post.
Wat to go Tiff!
And Peonie, you will need to explain something Important to your Father about Sister Teresa.
Of course Olivia jumped at the chance. Wouldn’t you?
Still
laughing.
Would it really have been so hard to arrange a meeting, even if not tell them directly?
Well that’s alright, I like this result better.

When a person is quietly stating what is going to happen to you when you don’t comply, it’s in your best interest to give the person what they want.
@SGT Lewis Especially when there GRINNING!
Olivia folded because
