So, what is Olivia rubbing against to cut the ropes? Is it the edge of Tiffany’s armor? Bad planning if so…

I was sure Tiffany had a harder head than that, but Olivia’s legs are still bound. But, if she is a mage it is her hands that will be the problem. Still, I think she could be surprised by the new skills the Princess as picked up.

She’s going to be most unhappy when she realizes that Tiff was the one holding the princess back from violence and not the other way around…

K.O. Typhan-knee is not a good thing for anyone, Olivia. You should know this.

So, what we can tell, given what is before us.

Olivia has no idea about Typhan-knee. Never anger the Tiger.
On this matter, retribution will follow, clearly.

We also seem to see a certain condescending tone towards the Princess P-Cups.
Also, without mystical far-sensing objects, I can foresee that this will end badly.
As for the White knights, I can see where having only one at hand is a liability.
Whence goes the very conspicuous Knight, goes the King.

A rough looking rabble of a few poor looking, but obviously hostile peasants, would move about with far greater ease, with far less challenge.
Well, that would be one of my well trained Military stratagems, anyway.

Clearly, things have changed since Typhan-knee was in town last.
Now we can but wait until Tiff gets somewhat irked.

Also bearing in mind that this is not the Tiff of old.
Now we have a far more worldly, seasoned and experienced warrior, who has learnt a great deal, back in town.

Also, Princess P-Cups is more worldly wise and experienced, not to mention Typhan-knee has now faced her Dark Gods, has learnt a great deal and is becoming truly a force to be reckoned with.

Sadly, for Olivia, unless she has extraordinary protection, Tiff is now someone who has both high and low associates in both High and Low places.
This including the seasoned and experienced warrior.

Also, having a Dragon in your corner can lead to interesting times.
Not to mention an all powerful Mage who is now footloose and fancy free.

Yeah, life is about to get interesting.

methinks she has an enchantress/siren thing going on. and tiff’s “Situation” leaves her at least partially immune. The king too which is why he’s imprisoned.

I think Olivia (or whatever her real name is) belongs to that Assasin group her father went to before the whole Magic Sword thing. Subterfuge and combat skills on that level are impressive.
But she is propably here to protect the king (or hide that he is out of town). No reason to reveal herself this way if she had plenty of time to kill him before.
Even keeping her disguise longer would be a better idea.

How did Olivia switch from Tiffany’s left shoulder to her right? In the second to last panel she is prepping to hit Tiffany with her left elbow, and then in the next panel, she is actually hitting her with her right.

I, for one, am just a tiny bit pleased that Olivia knocked out Typhan-Knee. Olivia should have been given a chance to explain things or perhaps clarify her statement about whom she was taking orders from. But instead Princess P-cups and the Barbarian Queen both threaten her and that’s just annoying! Let’s see what happens now.

So it wasn’t just a throwaway joke that Olivia provided the ropes she is tied with. They were sabotaged ropes.

interesting question, where are niels and bhor? I don’t see them falling down while tiff is kidnapping miss palm…

and it pretty much been shown they together at least are her equal in a fight.

When Typh recovers she is gonna be PISSED! Olivia there had better beat feet if she wishes to retain possession of all her appendages.

Did she break those ropes using sheer strength? Hmmm… either she’s way stronger than she looks or those were rigged ropes.

I think Niels and Bhor stood back and let Typh do her thing because they aren’t pleased with not knowing where the reason they exist as super soldiers is denied to them…the King…although I’m surprised they didn’t come along to watch…maybe they figure she had it covered and wanted to pursue their own stuff…

I simply cannot believe an elbow to the back of the head would do more than make Tiff really, really angry.

Okay, Olivia supplied the rope. Could be a trick rope, sure. But that’s not a lot of room to swing your arm, and she’s shouldered. The blow wouldn’t have landed with much force, and I doubt it could have knocked out a strong, healthy adult. I’m a bit confused by Niels’s absence, though. I hope he’s at least following. If not, I guess we’ll see how much swordplay Peonie’s learned on the trip home.

Getting knocked out by an elbow delivered from there should require amazing strength. I’m totally disappointed by the “plot overrides physics” trope.

    Maybe she’s another dragon larva.

  24. Duke
    September 3, 2014, 12:55 pm | # | Reply

There is a rather sensitive spot at the back of the head.

While the blow itself wouldn’t be enough to knock her out directly, the pain may be big enough to cause her to faint.

Such a faint can be rather short though, she may recover before even hitting the floor.

@Duke, that sensitive spot is the foramen magnum, the hole in the occipital of the skull where the spinal chord penetrates. To effectively affect the foramen magnum, Olivia would have to land the point of her elbow at the top of Tiff’s spine. That is clearly not what she does in the picture. The blow as represented in the penultimate panel would be more likely to injure Olivia than to render Tiffany unconscious.

Well, she’s a larva of some kind, the next few pages will tell us the type

    @LordCirce,
I think the entire next to last panel got flipped. Note opposite shoulder, arm used for the strike and Peonie is now facing the other way.

Not only would the blow Olivia delivered NOT be sufficient to knock Tiff unconscious, it would be more likely to break Olivia’s arm.

Guys, how do you know she doesn’t have a metal elbow pad or something?

Also, any blow to the back of the head can cause brain damage or even require a phoenix down to treat.

Solution: That yellow flare effect isn’t showing an impact, but is actually her channeling a lightning or sleep spell into Tiff’s head, just enough to knock her out. Magic Martial Arts FTW.

Just as Olivia struck the back of her head, Tiffany stepped into a plot hole, tripping and knocking herself unconscious.

I dunno. The Hand of the Queen might have more to her than the average hand, given that she appeared to have broken free via strength alone. That said, Tiff’s skull has an almost legendary thickness to it, I would say..

    Ah, Plot. Yes, Plot.
