huh – I know why I wouldn’t want to be king – being responsible for myself is hard enough that I shudder at the thought of taking care of others – but Peoni was raised to rule, hasn’t her father taught her anything about it?
is that why she keeps running away from home (yes, being prone to kidnapping falls under that category too)?

Maybe he has been teaching her and the knowledge that comes with said instruction is why she has been running away? Proficiency at a particular job does not equal desire or willingness to do said job.
She hasn’t really been running away so much as being kidnapped… it’s not as if she WANTED to be regularly abducted.

This still doesn’t excuse you from having to explain things to the now homeless citizens of Tokyo.
I mean, we could always later learn that Urtica now has some power to control the Fractured…

Urtica’s the kind of guy that stabs with the plot first, THEN twists it. Rather than control the Fractured, he’s more likely to profit off of them.
I wonder if Urtica is trying to somehow groom or friendly neighborhood Barbarian as a backup in case Peonie turns down the Role. Said barbarian IS the one person who BOTH
complimented Urtica’s scheming AND showed an ability to read his mind, AND a willingness to go along with his plans and even improvise on their own in order to best suit Urtica’s need.
Pretty sure Roh was just flirting with the princess there… which makes me wonder about the good captain and the king…
