Most likely, Tiff been thinking iot for awhile now. With the way women are there, Redhead(name slip) not included it seem, She may feel she can’t act like she there, or maybe being away changed her view points. Either way, it is interesting.

Either that, or it’s the good old “You can’t go home” reverse culture shock. Tiff’s been changed by being away from the clan, and the clan has changed without Tiff. There’s no going back.

Maybe like most women she doesn’t like the cold.
Long time readers will remember she had not intention of ever returning to her clan.

Bad Timing: she may have had no intention of ever returning, but she still considered herself a member of the clan, they are (were) her family afterall

Actually, it’s the only choice she has…
It’s still a “barbarian” culture, but that doesn’t mean politics don’t go as deep..
Will’s political opponents may easily pretend to go along with the “women have rights” things, but then claim that since Tiff is the elder child, she should be Leader, smiling all the way. The fact that she *used* to be male makes things even easier for that tactic in a world of magic.
Also, she’s just lost an old-time friend in a rather dramatic fashion, found out that most of what she believed about her family was not true, and that her brother is actually one of the Good Guys.
As a member of the tribe the only thing she *can* do to protect the status-quo and her (newfound) family is to play along with the Spiel, and to denounce her heritage.
As the Shaman basically commits seppuko, Tiff chooses for voluntary exile. Which in a number of cultures and times was seen as more honourable than simply killing yourself, and it fits with the society that’s portrayed here.

And no one can send assassins again to “protect the throne,” not from this tribe anyway. Any assassin who gets sent, gets to die.

That is a shame… this is so integral to who she is. Not being able to go home again makes sense, but the fact that she so readily accepts it and is okay with it seems like the character we have ll known and loved is gone.

I really did not like this storyline, however I have to admit it was a very good one. We’ll see how things move forward from here.

She’s also parted from the…male creature who was diggin’ on her. He’s off studying dragonics 101 at Dragwarts, and the king don’t want ‘er. Forever alone.

How much you want to bet that the newly free agent Tif will rescue the Shaman, perhaps with little opposition by her brother.

Without Denver, will the King try to make his move on Tiff again. I still find that funny.

Mep98: I’ll take that bet, on the condition that the Shaman is mortally wounded during the retreat.

Feels metafictionally parallel to the end of Chemiclord’s run. Still trying to decide if I’m going to keep reading after this…

Tiff will not save old strum doing so would dishonor his sacrifice for his clan and jeopardize her brother hold on the clan.
The shaman will go to his fate with his head held high not on his knees begging like a dog. Also it will end the pain of betrayal and loss of his mate.

@Tof Eklund; For what it’s worth, while my work is technically done, these are still my scripts in place. Don’t worry… I’ll let everyone know when my very last page is aired.

She’s doing the right thing, and I suspect for the right reasons-Her brother is a wise and just ruler/leader-something she was ill-tempered to be even as a male. While she’s more comfortable (or becoming so) with being Female, she’s keenly aware of what kind of disruption her being ABLE to return can cause (we saw that, after all, in the actions of the matron.)
She’s abdicated for the good of the Clan-in a very real sense of being FOR THE GOOD OF THE CLAN.

Her Brother made Peace with the Rus-and a lasting (apparently) peace to-boot, is making significant reforms, and has a good grasp of how things work. She’s sacrificing, but it’s the right kind of sacrifice.

I am disappointed here. This story has been a little boring for a while now, but it’s going to end like this? Tiff just leaves and renounces the clan? The older Tiff wouldn’t have stood for that. She would have turned around and kicked the crap out of him anyway and said “I will come and go as I please”.

This story should be ending with the clan recognizing her as a woman instead of a man from now on. Thus eliminating her authority over the clan, and making things incredibly awkward for her. But not completely disassociating her from her family.

I think this storyline has been great. It is a maturing story with excellent writing. It is, however, quite a different type of story than it was a year or two ago so I understand why people would have misgivings.

There could be quite a twist at the end. Diana was badass, and is respected by the town so I don’t think Tiff would have a problem should she go ahead and liberate Sturm and take him back… ?

The purple outfit on those guards seem off for a barbarian clan…

Shaman Sturm is sacrificing himself for the good of the clan. Tiff will not rescue him. Doing so would both dishonor him and make his sacrifice useless.
    Tiff understands that.

Just as Cerulean Lion states, I don’t think Tiff will save Sturm. He is sacrificing himself to be an example to others who would try to go against the chieftain and his ideals. A warning that says “This is what will happen”. If he gets rescued, that’s kind of the wrong message to send

I think the “no longer pretending” goes on multiple levels and far back into the past.
Typhanee has the hair of his/her mother, wich never fit into culture.
His secual orrientation never fit into culture.
Even his/her perception of women did not fit into the culture.

Typhann never truly was a babarian, not since the day he was born. Anod now after the transformation he fit’s even less then before.
Accept the things you cannot change, change the things you cannot accept – and have the wisdom to distinguish between both of them.
