This is the kind of pep talk that a Warrior would like. People that they can identify with, have possibly stabbed or attacked in the past, you know. No hard feelings. It also helps reestablish those powerful feelings of testosterone. Great work for all involved!

As I was saying, pretty much.

I especially like, “I wouldn’t be who I was then now regardless.”

    Neither would Typh, I think.

    Also, King’s Guards got noses.

I hope those are eyebrows, by the way. Thermodynamically, if light sensors glow, the glow swamps the signal.

That’s why astronomical cameras are often cryogenically cooled: it reduces noise in the sensor.

(sorry for the digression, glowing eyes just bother me. Send or receive, pick one.)

@50srefuge maybe the eyes reflect light that they see giviving the retina two chances to pick up the light , like many real world animals?

Maybe they’re like cats’ eyes – they only appear to glow because the retinas are reflective.

Also, I still say Tiff can’t get a whole mug down (and keep it down.) Not something this strong.

Just when I think, I already love those guys, they turn out to be even better.

And in fact they HAVE attacked each other. Their first conversation consisted of “WHO ELSE WANTS TO DIE!?” “Apparently you do, lassie.” Second time around Tiff won. And since then they’ve fought as allies… these are people who Tiff can definitely relate to.

I do definitely want to know what’s underneath those helmets, though. Are they like the Jaegers from “Girl Genius?” This is… damned interesting. Loving where our latest writer is taking things.

Maby they have spectral filters over their cornier letting them see in to the IR band, IRL optics with IR and UV have a spectral filter coating it gives them a scatter quality and makes them “Glow” if you look directly at them.

The refected glow is only visible in dark surroundings where the only light source is behind or near the viewer.

These eyes are visible even in sunlight. The current scene is far from dark.

Irrelevant, most likely. They act more like eyebrows than pupils, although they’re positioned more like pupils, level with the bridge of the nose.

Whether your glass is half full or half empty, never forget that AT LEAST you have a glass… That was deep, and now it is stolen 😉

An excellent pep talk. I’m glad Typhan changed her question, and got an interesting answer.
    This was a cool page!

I really like the last few pages. Fun and intelligent at the same time 🙂 Not something one is spoiled with.

Everyone must come to terms, somehow, with who they are. From what we have now seen of Tiff’s backstory, this curse might have been the best way for that to happen.

These last pages have been an interesting exploration of some of the philosophical implications of the comic’s basic setup.

That sounds sorta pompous, but basically Tiff is getting the input she needs to be comfortable in (or at least not actively repulsed by) his situation.

    (Yes. Intentional)

Maybe the eyes have become active scanning organs post-“process”, and the yellow is the visible aspect of the scan.

    Or maybe Bellisario’s Maxim.

As for Typhan-Knee’s beer, maybe after the pep talk she has better resolve in coping with her situation, and it becomes the first beer she can actually enjoy since being Fadenized.

    Ah, the old one:
Optimist: “the glass is half full”
Pessimist: “the glass is half empty”
    Engineer: “the glass is overdimensioned”
    Reaganomist: “the glass is full”

    @David.
My take on the old question is that it can only be answered knowing the previous state of the glass and more stringently defining your terms.

‘Half full’ would be defined as an increase from prior lesser amount.
‘Half empty’ would be defined as a decrease from a prior greater amount.

Without knowing the previous state of the glass, the most you can say is that the container is at 50% of its rated capacity.

“There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: this glass is half full. And then there are those who say: this glass is half empty.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: What’s up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don’t think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!” ”

Discworld novels, always a great source for quotes.

The Suits make a good point: you are always changing, sometimes by choice, sometimes by outside forces, some changes are temporary, some permanent, don’t focus on what can’t be changed (back) but use (and live with) what you have

50srefugee: the inside of those helmets are always in the dark

Not sure if it’s a local colloquialism: but saying something is “the s!!t” is a good thing (saying something is ‘shitty’ on the other hand…)

“The world belongs to those who say: ‘This is my glass? No, mine is full and larger.'” – The Truth (a Discworld novel)

I was okay with keeping Neills’ and Bor’s appearance a mystery. Now I am really curious how they look like.

Just been looking at the Patreon page and emailed them about international billing. I also noticed that you list stats from 2014 – you might want to update those to 2015!

Whether seen as half full or half empty it is still full. half of it is liquid the other half is air, hence the glass is full.
