One side comment. If his opponents have managed to land that many serious hits on his armor he either needs to work on his dodging skills or buy a shield.
Well, as was said in the announcement, this side thing was kind of necessary because production of the main story was running low on funds and the main artist needed a break as well.
So until things had time to reset itself, it was either this for now or a test pattern for those of us old enough to remember such things from the days before 24 hour television.

Obviously he is a wandering minstrel and he needs a new outfit to fit his genteel and artistic spirit.
The facial scar? He got it while performing an energetic lute solo and was hit by a broken g string. (insert your own joke here)
I like to think he got the scar under embarrassing circumstances.
