Hmm. “Someone is at the gate but we can’t say who”.
This promises to be more than usually interesting.

I’m thinking Urtica is less fond of guessing games than Niels and Bohr.

    “Doom” guy?

Kings are “majesties”. Princes (and princesses) are “highnesses”.

Peonie looks like she’s trying to work out which guard’s which.

It’s Lord Xanatos & his party. The Dead Lord Xanatos wishes to speak with the King.

Something about his Daughter is MY guess.

Could it be Denver in dragon-form?

If it’s a giant wooden horse, don’t open the gate.

Uhl: nah, he has ways to get into places you didn’t know had access

RBZ: she just needs to look at their chest, Niels got sliced with a sword (or was that Bohr?)

Quentin: fairly sure they would be able to describe a dragon

Can we at least get a threat assessment before THE KING goes out to meet them?

@Fairportfan Technically, Emperors are supposed to be ‘Majesties’ and kings ‘Highnesses’. The reason we use ‘Majesty’ for kings and queens these days is because of Queen Victoria, who was both a Queen and an Empress.

I’m probably delusional, but doesn’t the armored guy in the last panel look kind of like that assassin boy from the Theater, plus a facial scar?

Really, the correct answer to “What honorific do you use for a king/queen?” is not “Highness,” or “Majesty,” or even “Head Dude,” it’s “Whatever he/she wants to be called.”

Since Xanatos is a figure, are there Gargoyles responses?

Did Lord Xanatos die at the hands of Sir Thailog?

Even in historical Earth, there wasn’t really a technical standard for referring to kings, and the further back you go, the more vague it gets (your Highness, Majesty, Royal Majesty, Imperial Majesty, even your Grace…no, not just in Game of Thrones). It really did depend upon the time and place. In the world of Exiern, “your Highness” is probably acceptable, especially when used by someone who would know the difference, like yon guard.

Then again, the king has also been asked to be a fourth for a bowling league, so who knows…?

As much as i would like it to be Doom guy, he’s not all that hard to describe.
