@Fairportfan Technically, Emperors are supposed to be ‘Majesties’ and kings ‘Highnesses’. The reason we use ‘Majesty’ for kings and queens these days is because of Queen Victoria, who was both a Queen and an Empress.
I’m probably delusional, but doesn’t the armored guy in the last panel look kind of like that assassin boy from the Theater, plus a facial scar?
Really, the correct answer to “What honorific do you use for a king/queen?” is not “Highness,” or “Majesty,” or even “Head Dude,” it’s “Whatever he/she wants to be called.”
Since Xanatos is a figure, are there Gargoyles responses?

Even in historical Earth, there wasn’t really a technical standard for referring to kings, and the further back you go, the more vague it gets (your Highness, Majesty, Royal Majesty, Imperial Majesty, even your Grace…no, not just in Game of Thrones). It really did depend upon the time and place. In the world of Exiern, “your Highness” is probably acceptable, especially when used by someone who would know the difference, like yon guard.
Then again, the king has also been asked to be a fourth for a bowling league, so who knows…?
