Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
Ahh. I always thought he could still turn the sword on for knockout value but I guess Scott’s decided to drop them, such is his dream 😉
Still… When he says she broke them, I wonder if he means she broke them in the heat of battle or that something to do with her curse/enchantment broke them after they were used on her
@Deanatay – Oh crap, that’s a typo from an old version of dialogue! It was originally “Bohr’s sword” and I guess I deleted the apostrophe and left the S from the possessive when I reworded things. I’ll fix that later, nice catch!
Maybe Tiff got hold of the swords later and broke them over her knee (making sure the flat of the blade was against her knee, can still remember a Mad cartoon {or maybe it was a Cracked?} where a commanding officer is stripping a soldier of his insignia and was going to break his sword as well, but had the blade wasn’t flat :D)
I don’t mean this in a mean way, and I realize that unsolicited advice is rarely well received. The best insurance against future financial hardship is going to be getting the comic back on its feet with dedicated readership. Fix the writing so that it’s funny again, be regular with updates so that people are happy to come back, and grow your Patreon base. Don’t let expenses exceed income. Everything else is going to maybe insulate you against one-off mishaps, but it won’t be robust enough to weather a sustained bout of misfortune.
@ConcernedReader – Agreed, and much of that is ACTUALLY underway as I write this. The payout glitch was terribly timed to tragic coincidence. NEESE, some new outreach/social things being developed, and some feedback I’ll be asking for regarding Patreon are all in the works! And TPBs for sale are a better reality every day! And I’m always eager to hear what people think would better EXIERN! This just happened at the WORST time.
I think bringing back Faden eventually would be a good move to bring back the humor in the strip. To me it always felt like the humor went down some after Faden went to prison.
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
Love Niel’s expression in panel 3.
Tazing the princess is not allowed.
And in that state will not work..Greatest warriors the kingdom are afraid Very AFRAID!

She’s doing very well riding bareback.
Letting her ride out of sight might not be such a good idea…
I thought it was just ‘Bohr’. Now they’re changing spellings on us…
So Tiff broke the swords. DAMN! That must have been SOME fight.

@Deanatay – The h and the o being switched is just me being dumb, I guess…
On the plus side, at this speed the annoying lock of hair that Tiffany can never control is finally out of her face.
Why can’t Tiff lead Denver’s horse?

Mr. Horse is still not amused
lol, were not going to shock her, and also you broke them anyways, haha, i love that line.
Thanks for the explanation, Scott.
I always appreciated the “Niels Bohr” reference.
Sure, so have I! I even remember double-checking the spelling, and somehow I still got it so SO wrong…

Neils is such a wise man! My take on Tiff breaking the swords … they had to juice them up so high to actually knock her out, it fried them.
New version of the page is up with the correct spelling of Bohr’s name!
That’s going to be an interesting confrontation.
Even though we can only see his eyes, Niels’s reaction, to what Tiff said was on the parchment, can be very well seen/understood.
