Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
Peonie once referred to Harlequin romance novels and Ctyx once mentioned Wookies and straight after saying it wondered what one was (by implication wondering why he said it in the first place).
I’m sure there’s plenty of other examples, I suspect there’s interdimensional leakage going on. Does that mean our world is parallel to this one? I suspect it might be. I’m sure Scott knows but up to now, he’s not telling.
@Shan. Peonie said it after being Faden’s prisoner. Ctyx is presumably getting information from Faden’s hand that’s “corrupting” him. The Nymph is an inter-dimensional traveler, or was when “The Travellers” still visited the realms. So yeah, it’s a bit of cross-cultural remnants going on. As for what she did here? The nymph just blew any and all sympathy we may have had for her. Turning an innocent shop-keeper into a wooden statue and then mocking the “corpse.” Yeah… Moral event Horizon anyone?
IS she’s dead or transformed? and we’ve seen some wooden characters walking around so I’m wondering if she’s even in Mobile or just needs some time to adjust
She reopened her eyes inbetween panels three and four, in what is known in comics as the space between spaces or the interspace.
Look here for an example of where that cup came from and some discussions in the comments about the phenomenon of how whenever you read a comic, you’re only ever getting the edited highlights.

So needlessly cruel and callous. Tossing out ice-cold jokes that don’t get a jok out of me. Man, I hate this birch-BITCH!
Arrgh, the tree-punnery still has a grip on me!
I get why Faden would know about the pop culture of other realms but not why either Pip or Ce would.

Given that we first met Ce trying to drown people … (and a number of times since then) … well, you know …
Typha-knee is going to do such lovely things to the Nymph when they meet up. And it’ll be very much deserved, given what we’re seeing here…
They have met up! Didn’t end well (on a real cliffhanger! – and a bit beyond).
I’d like to see them set Pip free though.

She’s going to burn her into kindling? Isn’t she? Honestly it wouldn’t be a surprise with how crazy this chick is.
Did she re-open her eyes between panel three and four? Or slight artistic error in the last panel?
jonathan d wint: could be both, but there is a difference between being ‘born’ a treant, and being turned to wood
