Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
I say it counts: the worst thing about missing updates is missing information: you don’t know whether the author dropped dead, his project dropped dead, whether it will take a week or 10 or whatever. Soon the trolls populate the comment sections and complain about the lack of their free updates and the author being the worst of the worst, making the author less likely to ever feel like picking the ball up again.
A Chibi update at least rewinds the comment section and gives something to comment on apart from trolling and troll-trolling. So it helps a bit against bringing out the worst in fans and readers.
And if it’s spent in bringing out the best in plot and characters, who’s to complain?
Uh-oh. So next week is the guest fillers with centaurs, followed by irregular updates carrying vague assurances that the strip has not been forgotten then…
Between all of these, there must be over a thousand pages, easily. Why these ones? Well, that’s because the ones listed above and this one are connected.
As to how, well that’s a story for another day (which you don’t need to know just to read them …).
I would rather NOT see a return of old characters like denver or faden. And definitely no more Teresa. This is where webcomics really get stale, is just seeing the same characters over and over for so many years.
I would like to see this story move on. Tiff travels to a whole different region of the world, where no one knows her, and has no reason to think she is was ever anything but what she appears. Start a new adventure while she gets more used to who she is now. That, or go on a quest to change back into a man.
Oh yeah, there’s also “Go Princess Go” on Viki, which is probably as close as this show’s going to get to being on TV or film anytime soon (the budget currently only stretches so far).
CHIBI! I want merch of these guys… Sooo adorable!
As to the comic, take whatever time you need for whatever it is going on… Be it the comic or be it life in general. Whatever, man. If you’re fried, you can’t do the comic anyway so better to spend the time getting things back on track wherever it’s needed than turn into a crispy critter.
Not that you or anybody needs Our permission. But since you were nice enough to warn us, I thought it would be nice for You to know your readers could at least Pretend to care about you back. ;1
Filler totally counts! Sometimes it’s awesome just to see what oddball gems the artists have laying around the workshop. Throw in some old original sketches, and go take a vacation!
Chibi filler (Chibionie!) is sooo much better than nothing. I mean, Greg Dean goes for YEARS without updating Real Life. You do right by us, Scott. Stay good!
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
Cute to see the chibis again.

@David: Wow, those trolls did not need long to flock here, did they?
Have totally missed those four 😛
Christopher: the trolls were still congregating during regular updates
Updates to this story are worth waiting for. I hope whatever came up is not trouble for Scott.
Scott is one of those nice writers who considers fan feedback when he composes his story.
I was one of those a!!!!!!s who kinda just did what he wanted, and if the fans didn’t like it they could read something else.
Be happy you have a nice writer now. He’s nice. 🙂
I wanna Chibiprincess!!!!! I wanna have her set on top of my monitor to chit chat with CUZ SHES CUTE!

So if we keep asking him to bring Denver back…?
Clearly, the next filler should be a drawing of a troll.
To be honest I hope this is a good thing.
Exiern has felt tried for a long time now, with stories that take an age to go nowhere.
The story of the main character hasn’t advanced beyond the discovery of his/her sexuality.
Exiern needs a kick in the a!s, as there is only so long that the premise of the story can keep people coming back.
I read somewhere that the average webcomic lasts about 8 weeks. This one’s been running for 11 years. I’m sure it’s fine for a while yet.
Some suggestions to fill in the time until things start up again. There’s:

I agree with Gary.

Damn, that is one busty little chibi.

I mean it’s got a princess and everything.
I guess maybe a travelling puppet show might be doable for Exiern, however …

Apology accepted.
