oh so she just castrated him, still think he should have been decapitated.

I’m not sure that he got castrated. I’m fairly certain there would have been blood on this panel and the last. I think she caught him between the legs with the flat. But then again, his waist-cloth-thing is cut.

I see he was trying to use some magic on her there.. caught him in the throat first. Personally I would’ve broken his jaw but whatever gets the job done.

Typh just taught everyone a new way to silence someone without removing their mouths (literally)

mechlior – I’m fairly certain she did castrate him. She specifically said she didn’t want him to “bleed out”. A kick to the throat wouldn’t be damaging enough to make someone bleed out.

Then there should’ve been at least some blood on that sword.

Ew, he coughed blood on Typh’s nice boots. And they looked like suede too.

Bits decimated and now a crushed throat. (If she has any strength at all in her legs, SOMETHING got crushed in that kick) Yeah. This dude is not having a good day. Give him more suffering!

    Interesting.
The people there are in shock of what Tiff has just done, now. She even can have an admonising speech! Guards! Guarrrds! *On a second though, maybe they don´t come just because they know the terrible strengh she has, and of course, that sword, you know.*.

Aaaand, that *crunch!* sound didn´t sound very good (lapsed air conducts?). He shouldn´t be coughing blood if the kick was only to stun him. He may die of asphixia if he continues bleeding from internal trauma, presumably in the traxea or larynx (kicking with enough force the Adam´s Apple does that). So, yeah, this comic can be pretty clean on gruesome kicks.
Not that I like Coriander, but this won´t be a nice page in Urtica´s book.

You’d think his henchmen would do something productive… but perhaps they’re a little too scared of a strong woman with a sword.

@Lambda: I’m sure Urtica will survive the experience.

@Ecchikitty: Or maybe it’s Coriander they were scared of, and Typh solved that problem for them.

First panel, lower right. The guy and the girl seem totally disinterested in a High Priest getting gelded and kicked in the throat. They need to chat about something else apparently.

Actually she did “castrate” him a kick like that to the throat has a high possibility of permanent vocal chord damage.

A kick like that can collapse the trachea and cause death by asphyxiation, without too much difficulty.

It’s also possible that the blood is being hidden by his legs and tunic tails. Or maybe the artist just decided not to bloody up the image.

. . .Thia was Tiff’s part in The Plan all along, wasn’t it? Provide a scapegoat for those who will focus on the damage done to the Church of Rem, rather than to the charges brought up. Peonie’s big “I’ll step in to keep the wicked priest from escaping justice!” revelation was either all part of the act from the start, or else a last-minute burst of inspiration on her part – to save Tff from being put on the Church’s Most Wanted list.

I’m probably wrong, but if I’m not . . . ooo, Teresa and Urtica are match made in -some- other plane of existence!

Wow, this comic is so releveant to current events (George Pell’s testimony to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse from Rome). Lucky to be from a family untouched, sadly knew too many who were horribly damaged by one offender. Tiff’s cartoon violent justice is cathartic.

    Why not?
Hell, Typh knows that under the ‘rules’ he can still weasel out. Take his head – now that he’s had time to contemplate that death is coming for him – and put it on a pike as a warning to others.

That kick may be deadlier than the sword – that crunch could be a hyoid break, or a laryngeal rupture. That could kill him, choking on his own blood. If he had been gelded by the edge, there should be a puddle under him, though blunt force trauma from the flat could have ruptured one or both, effectively doing so. But if it were the hyoid or larynx, he’s have pitched forward by now, I think.

Don’t let catharthis carry you away. It’s still going on, but with a different religion, now. Rotherham is just the tip of the iceberg. Maybe after Brexit is accomplished, a Royal Commission will start the far longer process of rooting out what goes on with a blind eye still turned, so that no officials get charged by the press with racism, while the children still scream.

Still no one there seems to realize that nowhere in the stated rules of the duel did either champion have to die. The only rule stated was sword through orb, which marks him the clear and unambiguous loser.

Hmm ok… I understand that it is a rather felt argument… but… it is a bit grating the whole “Look what kind of pervert it is this child molester” from someone that is a proven rapist from a culture that regards pillage and maiming as a value… leaving alone the fact that the whole child molester angle is QUITE modern… [as is the issue with Tiffany omosexuality… in the flashback is never represented as a desire of being of the other sex, and the forceful act of TAKING a male would not be seen as particularly shameful in the kind of cultures representative of the barbarians there. Being on the receiving end is another thing… but NEVER is shown that Typhan Knee had any desire of that kind.]

@Bahamuttone you might be right however, the thing is, especially with old cultures like that, the rules were different depending if the act was done to an enemy or to ones own tribe member. Molesting a child of the tribe is a serious offense and your punished severely if not executed. Molest a child of an enemy nation, no big deal. Often People outside the tribe are not looked on as real people so the laws of the tribe do not apply.

On another note, I got the impression Typh was not your typical barbarian to begin with, part of the problem he had with his old tribe and brother and part of why he was an outcast.

In addition, he may now come to think of Urtica’s kingdom as a bit of a surrogate tribe now and he also has his own set of rules he/she lives by. Plus, she has been living with the kingdom for a bit now and traveling a lot.

Finally, Knight Typh was never hired for her political skills and she has been around long enough the castle guards are well familiar with her skill.

Guesticus, we here in the comments know very well what the rules as stated are. In the comic though, they either know another rule, one they didn’t bother to mention, or they’re too caught up in the moment to fight back.

@TotallyAnon: If I remember correctly Typhan Knee never raped anyone and is in fact a virgin. The ability to ride a unicorn is a way to show that since they only allow virgins to touch them.

Maybe this body did not.. the male one was doing it

  46. Grikath
    March 12, 2016, 6:36 am | # | Reply

the unicorn thing.. it entirely depends on which version of unicorn is used.. The beasties have gone through a couple of interpretations over the ages, as has the requirement for catching/taming them.
(and from what we’ve been shown so far, that unicorn is *not* the my-little-pony-disneyfied version, but a lot closer to the, rather lethal and demonic, original..)

There’s also the bit where Typhan Knee was transformed by an overdose of white magic, which is still active, which continuously tries to turn him into the “perfect damsel”.
With a vengeance, to the point where her clothes, and even her whole ..presence.. gets changed forcibly to fit the mold. etcetera.
It isn’t that hard to see where that same magic ensures that Tiff fits the Requirements ( for this world) for “taming” and riding a unicorn. Regardless of what happened when she was still male.

Which may be at work here as well, besides Tiff’s own opinion: defending children tooth and nail, especially against predators, is a very strong innate female virtue. She may not even have a choice here..

  47. Uhl
    March 14, 2016, 8:59 am | # | Reply

@ Grikath. While young Typhan-Knee may have WANTED to rape that stable hand who was (apparently) trying to protect a girl precious to him, he most decidedly, did not, because his father, Ravener-Behr, walked in on them, decided Typh was an abomination for being attracted to another man, especially a “weakling” from another tribe, (despite the fact that ole Behr, more or less, conditioned Typh into being repulsed by women), and tried to beat Typh to death when they got home, violently killing anyone who got in his way, until Will put a stop to it, and that’s when Typh was exiled, and the whole “foreigner purge” began. So in both genders, Typh/Tiff has “virgin power.”
