Jesus! This quickly went from amusing (“Oh ho ho, look! More silly spellsingers got their spells turned around and turned into women!”) to horrifying. Not only are they female, but they were made children, and worst of all, their mouths were taken sealed!? That’s horrible! This couldn’t have been just their own spell reflected back at them. I could see them possibly de-aging Tiff as a means to make her less dangerous. But a gender reversal doesn’t seem like something they’d want to, or even have any reason to cast on Tiff. And removing her mouth doesn’t really pacify her at all like it would a spellsinger. So now I have to assume it’s the Northwind/the Dreamer having sadistic fun at their expense.
The sword had nothing to do with this, it was Tiff’s living curse that reflected the spell. Like i said before these sicko’s probably did this to all their enemies.
Weird how it caught the 2 that were silenced already.
A similar thing happened to the priest trying to turn Tiff back into a man. That’s how the Lovely Queen was made. These dumb s!!t’s clearly didn’t get the memo about that though.
Is it me, or isn’t it utterly disturbing that the spells that were sung A) turn you into a child, B) turn you into the opposite sex, and C) don’t let you speak? Given the accusations, just the suggestion is sickening – Coriander deliberately taught them those spells. The silence spell alone is painful, but you’re sapping the target’s strength (not because of gender, but because of age) and ability to cast magic.
If the people of the Luminary Alliance don’t get the point by now, they really don’t deserve being called “civilization”. Tiff might be right on that one, if you think about it.
Permanently turned into little girls with no mouths
they’ll live a week then die.
as a rebound of Typhan’s curse
they’ll never be able to reverse any part of that transformation
It’s hard to tell, he had at least 7 followers, perhaps even 8. 2 got silenced by himself, 5 or 6 could have formed the attack, with only showing 4 as a matter of space. Or the effect got thrown back and caught the silenced ones as a side effect.
Also perhaps the magic of sword and curse worked kind of together to reflect the spells. The drawings look like effect of the sword and the genderfication looks like curse doings.
Ouch. A fate usually reserved for Mr. Sardonicus.
Of course, it could be worse. Could’ve ended up like the Owners of Owners from another Webcomic and had the nose fused shut as well.
At least, or at most, they can feed them through a tube through the nose.
Still, ugg, ew… sucks to be them.
I do hope Theresa can at least fix their mouths. While I am of the opinion that pedophiles should be shot, I think the death should at least be quick. Slow death by starvation goes way too far. Turned into little girls makes for a good ironic punishment, and potentially a second chance at life if they get raised again, but right this time. But the inevitably slow death if the mouths aren’t fixed just goes too dark.
Dear lords, they tried to turn Typh into a child so they could have their way with her, the spell rebounded, and… they lost their mouths too? I doubt anyone in the comic’s universe knows how to use a scalpel, as that’s what’s needed to cut a new mouth. (And I DO mean cut).
Death in a week? They should be so lucky, they’d die of thirst in three, maybe four days, tops before they die of hunger, unless they can somehow take in food and water through their skin.
I don’t think this is the North Wind’s doing at all. It’s definitely the curse rebounding, and further, the “sealing” is something they do. Coriander showed it just before the Duet of Skillful Blades. So they not only rape kids, they seal the kids’ mouths so they can’t cry out? Sickening bastards need to be purged, Period.
I’m betting the transformation curse doesn’t like anything messing with it, and any attempt at altering will be perceived as an attempt at a cure, thus reflected back at the caster?
I hope it spared those that Coriander silenced.
Also I think the no-mouth effect means only that they lack the power to speak or sing, not that they lack the power to eat or drink.
It could also be a partial non-curse. Those tears COULD be tears of joy. Just think:
If Coriander is a pedophile, these could be their REAL ages. Coriander uses his magics to age them for public appearances. The spell reflection, mixed with Tiff’s own unbreakable spell, could have negated the aging spell.
If Coriander’s pedophilia was for girls, then they may have already had the gender spell on them, again for disguise. Once canceled, they reverted back to their true gender.
And if the reason for Coriander interest in them was originally because they had the ability to sing magic, losing it would be more of a blessing than a curse.
Coriander is sick and twisted and utterly certain of his own actions. This would mean he’d have no problem seizing a gifted young girl to use for his own perversions while training them into a broken servant who will blindly obey him. The removing of all his spells would be a type of “resetting” for these poor kids. A change to start down a new path.
Oh, it is possible to keep someone alive even if they’ve had their mouths sealed shut. You just drip soup through a tube down the nose, and then the victim has to cough up the soup to keep it from going into the lungs, and then they can swallow it.
Now, too much soup in the lungs will kill you. therefore you can only drop a little bit at the time, so will be a fine line between them starving to death from too little nourishment, and dying from their cough-reflex failing due to exhaustion and their lungs filling up with soup.
Not a nice way to go.
Of course, magic might be able to save them. Lacking magic or modern science, the kindest thing to do would probably be to offer them capital amputation. Luckily, this comic does have magic. Will if be offered? Perhaps…
I’m willing to bet there are 3 different spell effects in operation.
1. Regression to child: What the spellsingers were trying to do to Tiff
2. Gender-shift to female: What happens when you try to do things like 1. to Tiff
3. Removal of the mouth – Remember for these purists, female sellsinger is religious no-no. They could very well have set up this up themselves as a contingency and motivating tool. If they fail like the locals and get turned into women, Something Really Bad Happens.
I had a weird thought. What if Faden’s gender-change spell on Tiff is being aided and abetted by the North Wind?
I did a quick run back through the archive to look for the spellsingers and I think the two who were silenced have not been changed.
http://www.exiern.com/2015/12/01/prove-it/
There we see seven guys. Two are surprised, the other five are not. One of the surprised has hair split down the middle like at least one other shown. The other has unique hair. A ponytail with his hair pulled tight to his scalp. No one else has that.
Of the five not surprised, we have one with bowl hair and a mustache and goatee. Two have messy hair, one has straight cut across the brow and long straight hair down the sides. One has hair parted in middle with a goatee. There is also a possible sighting of a sixth “not surprised” one with just long hair on the far right of the last panel.
http://www.exiern.com/2016/03/15/musical-vengeance/
Here we have four not surprised ones. One messy hair, one bowl hair with mustache and goatee, one straight across the brow and long straight on either side, and one that looks like short hair and well groomed. Though he is far enough back that his details are less good.
http://www.exiern.com/2016/03/17/reverb/
Here we have five guys. Front and center we have straight across the brow and long straight down either side. There are also two messy hairs, two parted down the middlers, and one parted down the side. There is no bowl hair kid. And there is nobody with a ponytail.
My thought is that these are the five (or maybe six since I seem to remember seeing 8 guys in the way back machine) who were not surprised. The lack of ponytail guy in the last comic suggests to me that he has not been hit by this backlash. Of course where did bowl hair, mustache, and goatee go? Is he a sixth person off screen on the left or did his hair style get changed? I don’t know.
This is just me looking at the hair styles and trying to follow them…;)
For me, it would be nice simply to see the comic. I’ve tried several tricks to try and coax it onto the screen, but all I get is everything else except the comic.
I don’t think their spell was turned against them as much as the sword canceled their spells and spread Tiff’s curse onto them. They became their version of the perfect woman. A little girl who can’t talk back.
So I’m guessing they were trying to turn Typh into a little girl? Only the silence is obvious, the sex swap I’m guessing comes from his own curse, and that leaves…
Considering it’s magic, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was possible for them to eat and drink using the area where their mouths used to be. It would hardly be the weirdest thing we’ve seen.
Gruhl: actually, they don’t need to drip the soup into the lungs, just need to have the straw or tubing reach the back of the mouth (what? you didn’t know the nose connects to the back of the mouth? o_O)
Ah, tried to silence Typh, and turn Typh into a child (maybe, the child aspect could be a side effect of the curse and their own perversions interacting, or perhaps intended to make her weak and silent). Which as far as the curse was concerned was pissing in its pool (i.e. it backlashes on any attempts at transformation, restorative or otherwise) and so they get transformed into females, and then their own song reflected turned them into children with no mouths.
Firemind: yes, only you, because you are wrong, only two of the now-girls have the same hair style (and even that is just circumstantial because it is parted down the middle)
Psyrus_Bonehart: that’s kinda the point: they can’t defend themselves if they can’t sing, and the church doesn’t believe girls should be able (or allowed) to Spellsing in the first place
You realize these guys are worse than Faden.. Tiff could Respect Faden..”I want to Rule the World! A Beat the Crap out of STUFF!” But these guys Want hide out and Rape Children….
Death by slow starvation when in a land of plenty while being young girls in a medieval society without the ability to say no, so they will have a month of one of the most slow and excruciating deaths with the solution all around unable to be used while constantly being under threat of their last month being abused without remorse due to their group’s past actions…
Three or four days. Thirst kills faster than hunger.
I don’t believe the King will allow them to be sexually abused. He’s ruthless but he’s not wicked. Nor will Teresa, nor Peonie, nor Tiff.
This assumes the spell won’t let them eat or drink. I don’t think that assumption is correct. The spell/curse has deprived them of spellsong, not the power to eat.
@Cerulean Lion:
Short of taking a blade and carving a new mouth, I’d say the lack of a mouth would make eating and drinking very very difficult. I suppose you could force fluid through the nose… but that’s kinda a harsh way to feed/drink.
I just committed the same mistake that I seem to make with all web comics: I just read ten years worth of comic in one night. Dang, now I Have to wait, lol. and it seems this is a once weekly comic too, But that seems to be the norm for these. Only my Favorite, Yosh!, seems to update thrice weekly, most like Gaia update twice a week or like this one, Replay comic, and iLpersona, update once a week. Better than some like Draconia Chronicles, which seems to update once in a blue moon lately lol.
@Cerulean Lion: Yeah, Typhan-Knee would probably wouldn’t let them die, not without a trial first anyway. After, he didn’t kill Coriander earlier, so he probably wouldn’t be OK with these guys being abused in their weakened state.
@Abibliboop: I’m not convinced the sealed-mouth visual is meant to represent the actual physical disappearance of their mouths.
Recall Coriander silenced two of his followers? I don’t think he was condemning them to death by starvation or thirst. Just shutting them up.

did the other two get effected too?
That’s bad, but as it was their own spell reflected, I suppose deserved.
Ouch… Genderbent, kidified, *and* silenced.
Can’t say they didn’t have it coming… Northwind can sometimes inflict a cruel mercy it seems.
wow just seeing what they are rumored to do others makes this very creepy
And dead in a short while as well…kinda hard to eat with no mouth.
another question did Typh get hit by any Backwash?
The sword had nothing to do with this, it was Tiff’s living curse that reflected the spell. Like i said before these sicko’s probably did this to all their enemies.

A similar thing happened to the priest trying to turn Tiff back into a man. That’s how the Lovely Queen was made. These dumb s!!t’s clearly didn’t get the memo about that though.
If they are de-aged, how can you be sure they were gender flipped?
@Sam S, they can receive food through their nostrils. 🙂
That was quite a whammy of a countered spell. O.o
“The sword had nothing to do with this”
Then why are all the spellsongs reflected off the sword and inverted at the points of reflection?
@jmucchiello, I would say that they are genderbent based on their looks in the last comic where they had breasts and were getting smaller at the time.
Is it me, or isn’t it utterly disturbing that the spells that were sung A) turn you into a child, B) turn you into the opposite sex, and C) don’t let you speak? Given the accusations, just the suggestion is sickening – Coriander deliberately taught them those spells. I do feel bad for the two who did not try to attack Tiff, maybe Theresa can help them.
Permanently turned into little girls with no mouths
they’ll live a week then die.
as a rebound of Typhan’s curse
they’ll never be able to reverse any part of that transformation
@TJgalon no it should only have affected those that were singing
obviously there was a few more singing off screen
All the others that tried to brake Typh’s curse got changed back (with some difficulty), except for Theresa who chose to stay female.
Their mouths can probably be fixed, but I’m guessing at least 4 of them will be wearing silencing collars for a while.
It’s hard to tell, he had at least 7 followers, perhaps even 8. 2 got silenced by himself, 5 or 6 could have formed the attack, with only showing 4 as a matter of space. Or the effect got thrown back and caught the silenced ones as a side effect.

That… is a truly disgusting spell.
Avada kedavra might be kinder than this.

The queens will be the only one likely to risk reversal as the spell spreads.. I think they cast diffrent spells and they mixed together.
I’m betting the transformation curse doesn’t like anything messing with it, and any attempt at altering will be perceived as an attempt at a cure, thus reflected back at the caster?
Hoping that the silence/no mouth curse either wears off or can be removed. The rest of it can stay as far as I care.
Whoa dang!!! Not only did it strike those four, but it hit all of the Priestlings? o_O
I hope it spared those that Coriander silenced.

No mouth, that is not particular good for their digestion, but I know from experience that it is possible to get the food though the nose.
I did a quick run back through the archive to look for the spellsingers and I think the two who were silenced have not been changed.

*sigh* The problems of kids these days…
“Wah, everyone I meet keeps changing gender!”
“Wah, I never get to play with cool reflecting swords!”
“Mmf, mm fmmf mmf mmm!”
They should be fine, physically at least, as they can still drink milk through straws. The straws would go up the nose, of course.
For me, it would be nice simply to see the comic. I’ve tried several tricks to try and coax it onto the screen, but all I get is everything else except the comic.
Karma’s a bitch. These guys got what they deserved.
I can see lots of stories coming from this. Let’s see… “the Silent Sisters…”
I don’t think their spell was turned against them as much as the sword canceled their spells and spread Tiff’s curse onto them. They became their version of the perfect woman. A little girl who can’t talk back.
That sounds like a really screaming heavy metal band…”the Silent Sisters…”
So I’m guessing they were trying to turn Typh into a little girl? Only the silence is obvious, the sex swap I’m guessing comes from his own curse, and that leaves…
Is this going into that old saying about “children should be seen, not heard?”
Either way, this turn of events certainly seems to have surprised them…left them speechless, you might say.
“We Have No Mouths and We Must Scream?”
…oh my god…!!
Considering it’s magic, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was possible for them to eat and drink using the area where their mouths used to be. It would hardly be the weirdest thing we’ve seen.
Gruhl: actually, they don’t need to drip the soup into the lungs, just need to have the straw or tubing reach the back of the mouth (what? you didn’t know the nose connects to the back of the mouth? o_O)
The thing they are really crying about? They had bewbies, and then lost them again 😛
To quote 8-bit theater: “It must take a lot of effort to be that unnecessarily creepy.”
Seriously though, good job. This actually makes perfect sense and is chilling.
Who’s going to take care of them now? Tiff?
Ah, tried to silence Typh, and turn Typh into a child (maybe, the child aspect could be a side effect of the curse and their own perversions interacting, or perhaps intended to make her weak and silent). Which as far as the curse was concerned was pissing in its pool (i.e. it backlashes on any attempts at transformation, restorative or otherwise) and so they get transformed into females, and then their own song reflected turned them into children with no mouths.
Oops.
Bet you wish you hadn’t tried that now.
If they get to live magically or otherwise, the most fitting way i would think of is using time travel, exchanging real victims with these ones
For those who want to hear the title of this page: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y8yvnqHmFds
I wonder: do they retain their knowledge? Their memories? Tiffany kept hers through each change, and Teresa did.
Please tell me that I’m not the only one who noticed that they all have the same face now, along with the same hair and eye color.
Well…looks like the orphanage has a few new orphans…
What good is a spell song when you are unable to speak?
Firemind: yes, only you, because you are wrong, only two of the now-girls have the same hair style (and even that is just circumstantial because it is parted down the middle)
Psyrus_Bonehart: that’s kinda the point: they can’t defend themselves if they can’t sing, and the church doesn’t believe girls should be able (or allowed) to Spellsing in the first place
Ah, I am indeed, once more, incorrect.
You realize these guys are worse than Faden.. Tiff could Respect Faden..”I want to Rule the World! A Beat the Crap out of STUFF!” But these guys Want hide out and Rape Children….
Guesticus: It was a Matrix reference. Guess it’s pretty old.

@Aron Dragonwolf – Well welcome aboard in any case. 🙂
