Oooohhhh….he “came back” because they attacked…if they killed her…which I’m betting is what happened…he’s dragging them into the future by a mix of hatred and passionate missionary zeal to bring civilization to the north…so it never happens again…
Ouch. Kinda begs the question. Which Kin? If it was his father’s kin then the above is true. If it was his mother’s kin… well. Let’s just say his contempt for the south would be understandable.
Yeah, I could imagine him having a bone to pick with the three amigos if they attacked his little hut. I wonder if he was strong enough to take vengeance immediately or if he did the old train for a year and then met them head on.
Those shoulder skulls look mighty uncomfortable to wear.
& yes, making vegetable dyes is rather difficult work. But the rewards can be wonderful, & he got his mind expanded a bit in the process. Altogether I’d say that time was a win for him.
Those look like cave bear skulls lol. Killing a cave bear is not a sign of bravery though. You just wait till they’re hibernating then slaughter em like bears in a cave.
Just read this whole comic tonight, gotta say I really like it. All because it was linked by daveb, and I thought if he reads it, its probably something I’d enjoy. I think Niels might be my favorite character.
@Archaeologist@Guesticus ok first they look like bear skulls, second this is the North so the Bears there would follow the rules of a arctic bear. That means they do not hibernate, Polar bears do not overwinter in dens like brown and black bears. Only pregnant females enter dens to give birth. Why? Because there is no Spring….It’s an arctic climate…So if you went in a Bear Den to find a sleeping bear …..It would be a mother protecting her cubs, quite awake and you trapped in tight quarters that she knows… Q the funeral march..
@Guesticus Well if there Cave Bears his Dad big claim to fame was killing one and he is wearing a Visible reminder not only that, But he killed 2…. Saying he is clearly twice the man his father was…
I will say this about killing bears if you skin one and lay out the body it looks like a large humanoid. With a strange head. It is quite sickening to see. What ever those skulls are they are not bears the snout is too long. Not even polar bears have a nose that long. They might be boars or some creature not found on earth.
Shipeng sometimes takes liberties with the descriptions of illustrations, but I dug back into my email for the script that first introduces Wyll-Line and the description includes the line; “The shoulders of the vest have the upper part of a bear’s skull on each shoulder…”

Seriously doubt his mother’s family would attack a monk (or priest) and his family
Actually Achaeologist, they look like Great Ape skulls, Cave Apes if you will
@Uhl betting the 3 moron chiefs for some rape and Pillage. Funny both brothers learned to read and philosophy.
“I am gonna go home and I am gonna take over the clan, and some people are gonna wish their grandparents had never met.”

@Korgus – Welcome! So glad you enjoyed! 🙂
Still say it looks more like a Great Ape Skull (they have nasty teeth as well)
@Guesticus Well if there Cave Bears his Dad big claim to fame was killing one and he is wearing a Visible reminder not only that, But he killed 2…. Saying he is clearly twice the man his father was…
Ape skull http://www.redorbit.com/media/uploads/2011/07/aac59655a89daefbb42e0860c3cd2801-617×411.jpg they do not look Long enough to me..
@ScottHicken @chemiclord we need a Call here..
@Guesticus watch them turn out to be like cave lion…And us both be wrong.
Are you sure that that is a Great Ape skull and not that of a chimp?
But yeah, waiting for confirmation as well, was just saying what they looked like to me

Okay, confirmation that they are bear skulls, just not bears that we Terrans would be familiar with (thankfully)
Yep that would be a bad thing…
