Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
Now that we get a good frontal image of the big glowing lights in the chest plates of the armor, I am thinking that Neils and Bohr should be named Tony and Stark. Do they have more than a decorative function? Has it been explained in the comic yet?
BTW, thanks for providing a distinctive battle scar on one set to help us tell them apart. They should trade armor sometime to see if they can fool people (because Neils has such a wacky fun-loving personality)
O.B Juan: we have seen those lights for ages now, but not sure if it’s just this page, but it looks like the shape of the face-hole in the helmet is slightly different (can’t really describe the difference, but look closely at their heads in panel 2)
@Darth McLeod – I don’t know if there will be space for that exposition later on, but if I have to cut that line now is as good a time as ever to affirm that Olivia knows of Tiffany but does not know what she looks like. It’s easy with Peonie, who even if Olivia has never seen her in person probably has portraits painted of her and is wearing a royal insignia. No such luck with Tiffany, the most Olivia would know is that they were traveling together, but not that the person before her is indeed Tiffany until an introduction is made.
Olivia is being a little cool to Peonie but not outright disrespectful (she did curtsey, after all). Olivia simply has a job to do and the princess isn’t helping. Also, Peonie isn’t operating with any kind of restraint. In fact, she’s behaving very much like an angry, spoiled child with all her shouting and bullying. Her willingness to throw a punch right now also doesn’t win her any points for maturity. I just hope that Tiffany acts a little better.
Olivia may know of Tiffany, but I’m guessing she hasn’t been provided much in the way of detail. If she had, she would probably realize that grin on her face in the next to last panel is a warning sign; when the barbarian smiles, it usually means she’s about to hurt someone.
umm, there is really only one detail need to know about tiffany, she travels with P-cups and is her female body guard…. it would take near idiot to not be able to piece together who tiffany is once have recognized P-cups.
really, in front of the kings personal guards she is putting hands on P-cups with no response from them at all, except to maybe step back
suspect it more intended to show tiffany that she considers her the “help” and not a member of the royal court.
Focusing on the wrong thing. Who exactly is she taking her orders from if Peonie is someone who doesn’t understand who that person is? Obviously she’s not taking orders from the king, that means.
Olivia said she was the Queen’s hand, sooooo that is most likely who is taking her orders from. And unless Theresa was made co-ruler instead of consort, Olivia made a very very big mistake by blowing off Peonie.
Y’know, Tiff has definitely been working on her self control. This looks like being the second time in recent adventures where she’s opted for a reasoned, non-violent approach to problem solving.
@Tiger Tomcat It is a mistake anyway as hair Poenie is a face of the Kingdom and to blow her off and make her have a tantrum damages the Nation credibility and the Kings in a Time of war.
Yes very stupid.
Even if she has some secret political power(even more power than the king say shes the Prime Minister) this show boating weakens the Nation.
Tiger, has it been established that Theresa is hostile to Peonie? Does she have an ulterior motive to block the Princess from her Father?
I’d think that it would be good sense security to have special instructions for acknowledging Peonie and her bodyguard, simply because that would reduce conflict.
Still she is a traitor or a fool. If she HAD reason a real one to forbid the princess she should of said I can only speak pf his Location in Private. Then refuse her but more likely Demand she to be carted off wiff Tiff to a secure Location.
You seen how we squabled here and Gossiped about weather or not Olivia a traitor.
News Flash the Guards would do the same.
She incompetent trying to slap the Princess in line or a traitor or both.
Even if it was to weaken the Princess Authority for the sake of the queen this was pure stupid. When you could send her away to be cared for and have people gossip about how she hid.
Tiff is going to take the high road this time I am thinking. She has had a lot of personal growth as of late. Also I think she can she how she has been a bad role model for Princess P-cups.
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
If Peonie keeps grinding her teeth like that then they are going to fall out faster than her boobs from a low cut top.
Who is she? Two DD cups of pure pain waiting to be unleashed.
I sense that violence is about to ensue.
Tiff will influence her with the force…
BRUTE FORCE
Actually…
“Hand of the Queen, meet the fist of the Princess”
“And you are…?” “To be taken seriously.”
10 to 1 she a Mage.
Excellent response, Charles.
What a great “straight man”/deadpan line from Niels.

You know what they say about punching someone who is wearing glasses? Spoken by 4-eyes who deserve to be punched, so hit her between all 4 of hers!

Very strange that a girl this high up on the ladder doesn’t know who Tiffany is. Or maybe was just told about her but never seen her.

“I am the Bitch from Hell with the baddest right cross you’ve ever – briefly – seen. Say goodnight, Gracie…”
“Who am I? I am the Bitch from Hell with the baddest right cross you’ve ever – briefly – seen. Say goodnight, Gracie…”
Olivia can be tested easy enough. If Northwind takes her head she was bad! If it dose not shes good! 🙂 Gee no wonder Barbarians Love that sword!
Peonie the angry one and Tiffany the calm one? When the the world turn upside down?
Focusing on the wrong thing. Who exactly is she taking her orders from if Peonie is someone who doesn’t understand who that person is? Obviously she’s not taking orders from the king, that means.
Yeah, can’t let the princess throw a punch, not when Tiff is so much better at it.. =3
Yes…who IS she taking orders from? Enquiring minds want to know…

The hair is a giveaway for something not human. I’ve noticed it for a few panels. Quite troubling.

Nick, very good point about the hair.
Just to step in before the theory gets too out of control, Olivia’s hair is human and tightly woven into various locks in the back.
Still she is a traitor or a fool. If she HAD reason a real one to forbid the princess she should of said I can only speak pf his Location in Private. Then refuse her but more likely Demand she to be carted off wiff Tiff to a secure Location.

She incompetent trying to slap the Princess in line or a traitor or both.
Basically all the theories here plus 10 would show up as Gossip.
Sorry Author if its your intent is she be good at her job she is not.

No even if she a bad guy she incompetent.
Tiff is going to take the high road this time I am thinking. She has had a lot of personal growth as of late. Also I think she can she how she has been a bad role model for Princess P-cups.
Remember when Tiff was rather bemused when she realised that the fair maid (her) had to rescue the dragon from the knights in shining armour?
@Jonathan Wint. Who is around to witness the Princess’ tantrum? Last we were told, there’s nobody in the town.
Tiff is going to try to kick her a!s, but is going to get her a!s handed to her.
jmucchiello: what about all the guards? Bohrs and Niels for a start, plus we did see at least 2 ‘normal’ guards at the pig-roast
The Guards and some look like rookies.
