In for the fame, Swift the regret. I mean, the excuse to wake up knight tiffany is a dangerous one to flaunt, but it sounds interesting when you first consider it.

I’m just going to get this out of the way right now, no-one’s prompted me to post this, it’s just my observations.

It’s the start of the new ad regime and hopefully it’s a big success. However, we have to keep in mind that there’s always a chance it could fall short of the previous provider. If it does, hopefully it’s temporary and then the income equals or even surpasses the old one.

If not, the question we have to ask is whether we all chip in a bit more to make up the shortfall in the interim or whether we accept a downgrade in the number of pages if the shortfall is big enough.

I figure it’s worth bringing up now so we have at least we have a month to think about it as for all we know, this could be an issue as soon as next month. Hopefully not (or ever) but you never know, so better to at least be thinking about it if it comes to pass than not.

Looks as if the majority of the men-at-arms are no brighter than the one who got eaten by a dragon.

Anyone with any sense would listen to someone who’s traveled so much with Typh..

Those guys didn’t. Darwin award candidates, every one of ’em.

No, you only get to be a Darwin Award winner if you get killed. These guys only qualify for an Honorable Mention unlike the other guys.

Funnily enough, the most stupid of the first lot might actually still be alive unlike the others as for all we know, he’s *still* trying to see that dragon.

Shan, technically to be a Darwin Award Winner you have to do something monumentally stupid that removes your capability to reproduce (preferably before you spread your genes)… death tends to be the most popular routes of achieving this.

Tiff getting upset and turning the soldiers into eunuchs would put them in the running for a DA without them being dead.

The men at arms are very brave to try to wake that sleeping she bear.

I’m surprised the stick worked. You’d think poking Typhan-Knee with a stick would just give him a stick to hit you with.

She one of the young maids, yes?

Well the hope is in the time in takes for Typh to grab the stick, you’ll step back and before he beats you senseless with it, he’s hopefully woken up enough to realise who it is and why they’re doing it. A gamble I know but it worked. All those other guys got within punching distance which was enough for Typh to reflex punch them without even waking up and going right back into deep sleep. At least 6 times by the looks of it.

Mackenzie, granddaughter of Old Mac and Original Doom Guy (well except for all the others before him).

I sympathize with Typhan-Knee. The first time a paramedic group roused me out of a catastrophic low blood sugar event, I awoke to find them bashed about and disheveled, apparently from my attempts to fight them off as they attempted to stick IV needles in my arms to get glucose on the inside. I too was quite apologetic. It’s Embarrassing!

Jake: The stick at least puts you out of Typh’s arm’s reach. Also, it looks like Peonie also suggested that when Typh grabs the stick, LET GO. The princess learned to her cost the pain involved in holding on. 😉

I am rather impressed that Typhan can snap a stick with her bare fingers.

Your majesty? Why are so many of your knights and armsmen looking like they lost a bar brawl with a bear?

    Alternate technique:
    1) get bucket of cold water
    2) Open door to bedroom
    3) Fling contents
    4) Run like hell

TotallyAnon, concur on stick breakage. It looks as if she used only her thumb, in the way you or I might break a pencil.

Unless the stick was made of balsa (or similar), that grip strength is not consistent with her muscular development.

    She’s magically strong.

Also, I question the castle medics for putting a cross of white tape over head wounds, applied directly to the hair. In my experience, that does not work well, and likely causes added distress when it needs to be removed.

I figured the stick was wise, it gets grabbed (or broken) instead of you.

    November 3, 2015, 2:57 pm | # | Reply

@Eric: yeah, if Tiff stays at the castle for any length of time, it would be wise to have a weak stick on hand, say of paper, or wood with kerfs sawn into it so that it can be used to poke, but a wild slash would let it bend or break harmlessly over the alarm clock’s skull.

I have been awakened with ice cubes under the sheet. It’s a bad thing. A gentle poke is much preferred.

@50srefugee: Except Typhan-Knee is still muscular, he’s not like he got weaker in his current body.

I’m going to guess that Typh is easier to wake when not completely hammered.

Flashback to 10 years ago almost to the day (only just off actually) of Typh operating at peak wakeability efficiency. Also, probably when Peonie first learned about the prudence of keeping her distance and using a big (as in long) stick.

Poking sleeping people is dangerous… I know, I punched a guy in the face when he did just that.

I have to admit… I’m not overly fond of this page. You’d think that the guards would have gotten a LITTLE smarter of late. I can understand the idiots from the more rural areas being stupid enough to die like flies, but this is the royal castle. The king wouldn’t employ idiots for his own personal defense, or that of his daughter.

The smart guys *are* guarding the king and his daughter. It’s the less bright ones which are given such dangerous jobs as wake up duty.

Then on the subject of Typh being an extremely light sleeper under normal circumstances, there’s this:
