Surprisingly clean for a battlefield. It must have been a short fight. But it’s hard to tell how many bodies are in those pyres.

Previously at the castle:
“Sire, the peasants are revolting!”
“Tell me about it. Some of them haven’t bathed in weeks!”
Some of the upper Battlements are Blasted so Magic or Gunpowder used? And if Gunpowder Cannon or Catapult? Or could it be a dragon?
It looks like the King lost.. Because the lack of tents outside might mean there inside. Unless it was a Quick powerful strike ? A Raid?
Blow the front gate and attack the front and slip in the back with a small group and take some one or some thing in the confusion as all the Guards and Cleric try guarding the front..
They need a Unarmored Scout that no one knows to check Village in front.

I take it that in some circles, a king with living heirs marrying a landless transexual clergyman is looked on as a sign of weakness?
The limited destruction (yes, that is limited) suggests more a raid to me. Either that or a quick conquest. No extended battles from my thought unless there is a lot more destruction than it looks like from here.
@Medron Pryde Yep the Problem is if it is concurred in a single lightning strike attack the thing I would do if I was the Invader is dress my guys as the old army and wait to capture the reinforcements and travelers to prevent any resistance. Especially with the Daughter heir missing.
I think it was just a raid,But I am basing that on what the the other 3 said but Tiff and friends never heard that. They should treat it as a Invasion since they have the heir. If captured Forced Marriage is the best she can hope for. Romans Would put Kings daughters in stocks for Public Rape Gang and then into public free Brothels. Unless the Leader Completely surrendered.
Wonder if it was a raid if they Grabbed the King or his Queen? For Ransom Queen Makes better sense to raiders as an heir tended to let their Ruler rot. But if Ransom Why not just Grab Princess ? It must be common knowledge she wanders off.
So Invaders or Raiders? Again the Lack of Siege Equipment outside (Burning) is a big Problem. Unless Magic was used or a dragon it should of been left behind by Raider unless its now INSIDE WITH THE RAIDERS!
They need to scout.

I wonder how much of the castles real? A lot Ancient Fortresses wear built up with easy to build facades all built to impress and confuse the enemy about what tower was real and what was a stucco camouflage. Might Explain all the damage if the outer wall and gate was for show with the inner building and walls behind it being solid.
Still the king needs a mote or a ditch to bedrock to prevent tunneling destroying the fortress from beneath.
That was a fast ride!
