I don’t think so, she doesn’t shy from it when it’s brought up. And I figured Typhan-Knee left to save the princess and the only reason she hasn’t returned is because of her current form.
Hmmm, tempted to make a joke about using the same dictionary as a certain US senator from Missouri, shall rise above it though.
I like the subversion of the blonde barbarian trope though. Nearly every other fantasy series (even some of the greats in the genre) has blond(e) = northern barbarian. A nice recognition of ethnic groups varying too.
Being abducted, kicking, screaming, and worse really did happen in our world for a fairly large chunk of history though. Second most common way of getting a woman…right after “as part of a business deal to ensure transfer of assets and dynasty”. “For love” came way down the list.
Older comics that wear erased when it was all redone with a better artist wear clear till Typhan-Knee was turned into a woman He thought Women getting raped was fun. And was clear he did it. She sees things as very different Now. Not simply bc Rapes wrong no the thing was to Typhan-Knee women wear not human or really real. Live stock is what Typhan-Knee called them. Typhan-Knee saved the princess for the Money. But it was implied there was a reason that he had to leave with a change in clan leaders. And he had been clan cheif’s son. No idea how much is still canon.
But you got to understand there WAS a very legit reason why Typhan-Knee was affected by WHITE MAGIC in that way. Typhan-Knee people wear Evil and till the gender Swap on this detail so was Typhan-Knee.
The old Gods wear concurred by the new and the New Gods left being only there to take out the Old Gods. But I think there still some one in charge of Karma bc of this.
Typhan-Knee changed Evolved and IS not so in love with HER culture anymore. I think if she became a Man He would Kill the old clan cheif or the new. Even if it was Dad. Typhan-Knee grew beyond his/her cultural limits.
Sounds to me like Typhan-Knee’s clan has more than the usual amount of blonds in it because they are the nearest clan and this practice has gone on a while. It would also explain how Niels could be sure of the clan w/o ever talking to Typhan-Knee about it or seeing any clan markings. Remember, by the time Typhan-Knee reached the capital there was a complete outfit change too.
There was once an evil kingdom were the women were abused. Every day the scrawny men would torture them, such as forcing them to take baths, go to torturous schools, scrub floors, wash dishes, etc.
Luckily there was a tribe of big strong friendly barbarians nearby. The women would wait till late at night, then sneak out the windows hoping real barbarian man would rescue them. With luck they would find one and scream out with joy as he raised her up on his mighty steed and they road off to their happy ever after home.
The scrawny men in the evil kingdom of course would bicker and fight with their neighbours as to who’s fault it was that their woman slaves escaped. At times they would even get so violent that they would arm themselves with pitchforks and torches and try to kill each other and burn each other and set each others houses on fire.
And the women lived happily ever after with their rescuers.
Especially consider the information she has given in previous comics that she is only part barbarian, and that original comic notes that she was the son of the clan leader. These pronouns can be most interesting. 😉
Though sister that got gender changed to male by a previous spell would be a most interesting twist. 😉
Depending on the age of this guard, I guess Typhan-Knee COULD be his nephew, although it seems more like her tribe is just well known through history for attacking his village and it was some other girl some years earlier.
But he mentioned a change of leader killing all foreigners so that would obviously mean his sister was eventually killed and Typhan-Knee may have been angry at the death of his mother. Its also possible that the tribe became more extreme and were looking to purge all foreign blood from their ranks by killing anyone blonde as well.
Just wanted to add the change in leadership may have been “his” brother killing their father and then purging the clan of all foreiners, including him. expecialy if Typhan-knee was the actual heir to clan leadership. Thus explaining the assasination attemt, to make sure he never comes back.
Those horses look miserable. I hope the artist remembers that horses are sprinting animals, and need to be periodically walked, or they’ll exhaust themselves and collapse. Especially the one carrying Neils – he cannot be a light load!
“I hope the artist remembers that horses are sprinting animals, and need to be periodically walked, or they’ll exhaust themselves and collapse.”
It is possible that there is a reason for the hurry, such as being in area that is easier to ambush and once they get out of open they slow down/stop to let horses rest.

Oh dear, oh dear. *sigh* This is going to get even more awkward, isn’t it?
Hmm. Now I wonder whether Typhan-Knee left because he disagreed with his tribe’s less savoury customs.

I think Typhan-Knee is being challenged because he agreed too much with his clans customs and his brother is a revolutionary.
Ok, so Typhan-Knee is likely Niels’ nephew. Phew.
Or I lost track, and she is his brother. Assuming Niels is a “he”, of course.
Wait, isn’t that what marriage is?
Authentic.

On a side note Blond hair ? Could that qualify Typhan-Knee as Foreigner? Be funny reversal, Purge are people of Blue eyes and Blond hair!

This sounds bad, but I sincerely doubt the barbarians were the only side doing the raping. Both sides always do it.

The end.
So Tiff is Niels’ nephew/niece. Neat.
Probably.
