@Guesticus: He clearly sees the skelletons of both Tiffany and the Mingalow. So X-Ray or similar is propably part of his “Drako Vision”, together with Infrared/Heatvision.
@Chellel Y not Guys do. Hence why we love to fight. Its a male Hormonal burst testosterone suping up the body and probably goes back to males Competing in combat for Females. Appears in most of the Animal kingdom.
So, mingalows can turn invisible so they can attack without warning, but Denver’s dragon eyes can spot the thing anyway. At least that’s what I get from this, I noticed that its tail started fading, and it’s fairly transparent around the neck when Denver grabs it.
We had a tomcat about half a year old. It attacked large dogs and commanded respect from horses. The amount of “cuddling” it tolerated from young girls was staggering, however. Quite overconfident. One can’t deny, however, that it caught and killed fully grown rats, a size that grown cats usually leave alone.
With Denver I have the same eerie feeling that he might lean towards overplaying his hand.
All the above commentary aside, I can’t help but notice that Denver is using the same head-tackling maneuver that got Tiger-man bitten in two. Niels and Tiffany better get back into the game soon or else they’re going to be burying poor Tadpole in pieces.
Look back at the pages. Unlike the dead kitty or everyone else, Denver out muscles the mingalow even with mittens. Snapping its neck or tackling it would not be out of the question.
@Ragingagnostic: what’s wrong with the mittens? They protect his scribe’s hands from chafing. He’s not really seeing the invisible with his eyes (their physics are not made for that). So why should he be really attacking with his hands? It might feel like that to him intuitively, but what’s going on here is not mechanics but magic.
I think he’s just going to squeeze and pop the things head right off… maybe just a break but those arms are already squeezing pretty tight by the look of them.
And is that Niels or Tiffany. If its Niels then that rules out any funky stuff with his skeletal structure outside of Magic.
P.S. shouldn’t Tadpole’s words possibely be “WE don’t think you’re going anywhere”? *lol*
Hope you guys don’t mind the plug but just found a kickstarter project for a children’s book written by the original author of Exiern and current Author of Blade Bunny, “DROWEMOS” with the artist set to be none other than XYLIA TALE’S own BARB JACOBS!!!
Looks like it hasn’t been plugged very well but if there are fans here of either the writer or the artist or even people just wanting to lend a bit of a hand by pledging $5 to get a PDF of the book then please assist or even just share on facebook and spread the word so they can make the goal.
@Ragingagnostic
Mittens should provide protection for his hands, just like the first boxing gloves, allowing him to hit with full force without breaking his fingers. More boxers were injured or killed after gloves were introduced than before.
It has only been a matter of seconds (minutes tops), he literally hasn’t had the time to stop and go “Whoa!”
At least give him until after the life-and-death struggle with Princess P-cups’ imagination before you start insulting him (also, remember what he just did before you start insulting him)
@Ragingagnostic Dragon do not use stinking Swords! The Gods made them till Kill creature like this. The do not Need Weapons ..BC they are weapons! And to Denver Outsiders are kibble And this things just a out sider in a rotting cat suit..
@Mogster: it would appear that dragon vision does not work through long-wavelength gamma radiation. Which is probably to the best of all. Instead it would appear to focus on some essence that is present in Neils’ and the Mingalow’s flesh, and that has a counterweight in the bones.
Given the respective coloring, it would seem that dragon vision focuses on erythrocytes. We see the contrast between the immature cells in the marrow and the mature circulating blood cells where the cell nucleus has been supplanted with magic.
@Ragingagnostic. The positioning between Denver’s literal choke hold and Mr. Hanzelo’s attack is actually quite different. Mr. Hanzelo jumped onto the mingalow’s back, and had his legs on the mingalow’s shoulders. This left him off-balance and vulnerable to having his leg grabbed, wherein he was bitten in half. Denver, however, has most of his body behind the mingalow’s head, and his arms are directly under the mingalow’s jaw. This is by far, a much stronger position, as while the mingalow can still technically reach him, unless it has the power of turning its head 180 degrees like in “the Exorcist,” it’s going to be flailing blindly in trying to do so. Just like someone who is being strangled from behind by a wire.
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
Still not as cool as Jake.
Denver uses x-ray vision. It is extremely effective.
That’s our dragon! 😀
Not x-ray, heat vision
And is it just me, or does it look like Ming tried to do a Queen Alien and skewered ‘Tad with it’s tail in the first panel?
Oops! Seems missed a page 🙁
Any guesses as to what color dragon Denver is? His ‘dragon skin’ tone suggests gold. Or, are dragons chromatic in Exiern?
@Guesticus: He clearly sees the skelletons of both Tiffany and the Mingalow. So X-Ray or similar is propably part of his “Drako Vision”, together with Infrared/Heatvision.
Me thinks copper or bronze
Actually, it might be interesting to note that is Niels’ skeleton, not Tiffany’s.
@Deanatay I agree Gold.
I feel like singing the superman Theme !
I wonder if dragons get horny after they fight
@Chellel Y not Guys do. Hence why we love to fight. Its a male Hormonal burst testosterone suping up the body and probably goes back to males Competing in combat for Females. Appears in most of the Animal kingdom.
Hmm…..XRay Vision.
well…..if you must….
You know I just had a Evil thought , What Happens if you make a Mingalow out of a baby Dragon?

Nice special effects!
@ Guesticus
To me it looks more like the Mingalow snatched it’s tail out of Denver’s hands. As for Tadpole Vision, cool!
Doc: yeah, figured that, after going back to the previous page (had missed it by accident :()
All the above commentary aside, I can’t help but notice that Denver is using the same head-tackling maneuver that got Tiger-man bitten in two. Niels and Tiffany better get back into the game soon or else they’re going to be burying poor Tadpole in pieces.
I mean, he doesn’t even have a sword! What’s he going to do? Strangle it or break its neck? In mittens?

Tadpole… do you realize what you´re using? I think, by now he should have realize that´s no normal prowess for a human…
Maybe he´s in for a revelation in this journey? I mean, I think seeing people´s bones in some red aura vision is not very common… xD
Or well, could be that he´s THAT complete definition of DENSE.
It has only been a matter of seconds (minutes tops), he literally hasn’t had the time to stop and go “Whoa!”

How does X-ray vision work on Neils, with that heavy steel armor he wears?
