Mitten fail…
Well, yeah. Who wouldn’t kill for Mittens? He’s a really swell guy. Er, tom. Who wouldn’t do anything he asks you to do? Especially when he keeps looking at you with his big, soulless eyes.

Maybe the title is the foreshadowing – they encounter a polar bear, Tiff kills it, makes mittens of its fur. Ash Tribe rite of manhood, or something, proof that she’s still got what it takes.
Like I said last time, Tiff mentioned back in the Enchanted Forest, they have Ice Dragons where she comes from. She said they were sorta like spirits, so maybe not the same as the southern dragons, but still…
For the record, Tiffany DOES have gloves (you see them in the previous page). The purpose of Frame 2 is a visual representation of how cold it gets on the Desert Ice. When I put together the script, I had envisioned Tiffany blowing into her gloved hands, but apparently didn’t convey that well enough to Shipeng, who drew the scene with her gloves off. It didn’t seem like a big enough thing to have him redraw part of the frame for, so I went with it.
Desert Ice is starting to sound less and less like Dairy Queen. I am starting to think they won’t be eating ice cream at all.
Is that the remains of a boat in panel 1? Kinda looks like a mast (with crows nest) on the right hand side

I’ve got it! Tiff is trying to warm up her lock of hair – don’t want it freezing off.
The lightning is… worrisome. Normally, lightning requires some moisture in the air – how you get that when it’s this cold, I couldn’t say.
I stand corrected – apparently there’s an extremely rare phenomenon called ‘thundersnow’, where it thunders during a snowstorm. Google’d it, BTW. It does mean they’ve got ugly weather ahead, though…

Grim: that would mean that at some point the North wasn’t entirely frozen as it is now (looks like maybe they are walking over an old river or lake)
Oh, and Tiff never had mittens, she had gloves (go back and look, you can see all 4 fingers and thumb on each hand), everyone else have mittens (including Steel Bohemoth :P)
