What was Faden looking for? Trouble? He clearly found some, and probably loved it.

That doesn’t sound nearly horrifically comical enough for to be a Faden death. I always thought he had a tinge of The Joker (Hamil version) about him.

I find it hard to be terribly sympathetic towards those warriors, mainly because as bad as Faden is, it seems the Tribe are just as unpleasant and nasty and probably ended up talking a minor confrontation into a fight by being jerkasses.

Or maybe Wyll-Line has a sister fetish and paid Faden to “right the mistakes of biology”. 🙂

Yeah, I can just see Faden making minced meat out of some unprepared barbarians who tried to push him around when he had his full powers at his disposal.

Heck, it was touch-and-go a few times during his last fight with Tiffany, and for all her douchebaggish past, she is… exceptional.

That new panel of ‘held within’ being advertised makes my skin crawl… I don’t know what that teacher did, but the punishment looks rather extreme.

Faden does love a delicious irony, though.

Yeah, and that’s one of the reasons why he loses. :p If he’d been a more businesslike kind of villain, he might have beaten Tiffany. Instead…

You know it’s funny, I really don’t see Faden as all that evil. Have we ever really seen him slaughter a village for laughs or anything like that. He generally tends to focus on his own selfish needs and leaves others alone unless they have something he wants or they are an enemy. Have we ever really seen him slaughter a village for laughs or something chaotically evil like that?

If anything he’s more neutral evil like King Urtica (all politicians are evil). I wonder if they would get along well if they met? lol

As long as they kept their interests as far apart as possible Urazz, for if they ever did…

Gallstone: makes me think of the end of “Little Nicky” when his brothers were inserted up the pooper of Dear Ol’ Adolf (in this case, the teacher is now the recepticle for the genie’s bottle), and look at the teachers face, she is not complaining

@Gallstone being a business like villain is boring though. If you’re going to be a bad guy, you’ve got to be more fun than the average lawyer. Remember villainy is its own reward.

@ Guesticus: Yeah, but her inner, original self isn’t the one in control. o_o ‘Fifi’ the fictional maid is. This reminds me more of “I must scream, but I have no mouth”. I doubt the inner self agrees with what’s happening. She’s possibly shrieking her figurative head off and on the brink of insanity…

@ Crypticmirror: The fun stops as soon as you feel a sharp pain in your abdomen and the last thing you hear is: “Oops, made you do a monologue there, old sport.” 😉

@Gallstone/Guesticus: The genie is a part of the other character, Susie. And panel 2 explains that the maid personality is built out of the teacher’s id, fantasies that she was otherwise denying herself. The genie is able to explain that, in a fashion, she is enjoying what is happening.

Granted, this is punishment for her blackmailing college students into having sex with her, so…I should probably leave any other extrapolation on HELD WITHIN for discussion on another site so we don’t off-track EXIERN readers… 😉

I think that faden wanted to be captured, by someone in the tribe, maybe his original target was Wylinie but Tiff surprised him. I’ve always felt that Faden was captured a little too easy and so I’m wondering if he has some extraordinary way of destroying the luminary alliance and the northern tribes. Maybe he’ll makes his big plan at Tiffs and Urtica’s wedding.

Also I agree with Urazz’s theory about faden. He might seem like the Joker, but there is a certain logic to his madness than meets the eye.

Joker may have been a total nutter, but he wasn’t stupid

Haven’t read any of HELD WITHIN, was only commenting on that single image (will stop now)

Speaking of Faden, I recently was at a talk by Phaedon Avouris, and his first name is pronounced the same. It was very amusing.

“found burned to death with their tongues cut out.” Looks like Faden was doing to the Barbarians what the barbarians did to spellsingers as a general rule.

I don’t care for these barbarians, either. Like those skin-walkers, they prize strength, bully the weak, terrorize or kill children and have no patience with sorcerers, even if said sorcerers aren’t bothering them. When that old woman wondered why the southerners hadn’t been destroyed, I wished that Peonie would purr, “Oh, maybe it’s because King Urtica is sly, manipulative, cunning, ruthless and that beats being an overmuscled northener any day of the week. In fact, he killed the last oversized hulk that faced him with a single swipe of a knife. Any questions?”

@Ragingagnostic There is plenty of evil to go around. Or did you forget that the south tried to commit genocide.
