Well it seems that we can knock off racist barbarian clan. Seeing that they are dwarves and elves, or midget elves. That being said is that a elf or young dwarf?
First off … How Did The Shaman Know Typhan-Knee Would Be There?
Second … The ears of the messenger are pointed … making him an Elf.
The swords disappear again … as he looks over his sholders toward the messenger.
Not sure I would want that set … what if they decide to disappear when I need one???
J/K
Pointy ears are not indication enough of his race. Some races of Halflings, half-elves, elves and a couple of other short folks have pointy ears. For shaman knowing typhan-knee is there well that is a shaman reading future is one of jobs requirements 😛
Perhaps the dwarves and elf are booty. Historically correct that barbarian raiders would carry off the young of other tribes/peoples and raise them as their own, or make them slaves.
F!!!!!g Hobbi…..er, I mean halflings! [looks nervously over her own shoulder for Tolkien estate lawyers]. Heh-heh, don’t sue me.
So, the Shaman steps in. I’ve read enough high fantasy in general, and David Gemmell books in particular, to see this as being a non-good thing. Shamans are up there with viziers for people to kill on sight, always trouble. Either powermad plotters, or stoned out drug users with spinning eyeballs due to the mushrooms.
whats up with people and the swords…shesh, so obsessive compulsive…just read the dang story. >.> also, mayhaps rather than an assassin, an aggressive messenger from the shaman?
The Swords being missing in panel 2, I would assume this time is simply an artist choice of where they selected to cut the frame. They wanted him to bleed over into Frame 1 but opted to just be him and not his swords or background. Probably because they did not want to crowd the landscape shot…
But ultimately I think you guys are way to focused on the minor things, we all know Tiff’s mount (not refering to denver btw) is a unicorn so if the horn goes missing it was just a mistake and probably isn’t worth the time it would take for the artist to sketch the piece. Same with the swords going missing, big deal.. we know he has them and that if they were truely to have gone missing the writer would have drawn attention to that fact some how.
I’m more concerned about the skulls on Mel’s shoulders. The swords disappear for a reason, since should Mel try to draw them, he would seriously cut his arms on those canines and incisors.
We’ll if fictional trends are anything to go by Shamanistic magics are associated as neither pure light nor dark more of a grey so i expect more of an analyzing of the actual magic involved in this (technically a blessing) from him to assist “her” in returning to normal or determining more accurately if its even possible .
@lurker, what comic have you been reading that you think introducing a spell caster is “resolving tension”? ’cause you sure haven’t been paying attention to this one. So far, spell casters have done only three things: 1. been villains, 2. made situations worse, 3. tried to help and fail.

Oh, please try old Shaman try to reverse Typhan-Knee curse (err blessing) and spread it to the other jerks.
What other jerks? There was only the brother who was a jerk. 🙂
ahhh, the games a footloose

Wouldn’t that be great? Mel sharing Typhan’s curse?
What the heck would there be great about this girly nonsense anyway? Great would be to get rid of that silly thing finally and be who he was.

See how the eyebrows go up? He’s Vulcan, people. Sheesh.
Seriously, what’s with the swords?
Equal opportunity Barbarians, I like it.
Hah! Take that!

So it’s the whole “kill off the older/’chosen’ brother to secure the throne” thing. Gotcha.
Melan-knee is so cliche of the inferiority complex evil overlord.
Annnnd there’s Dopey. That makes all seven.
Let’s consider the following:
– Melan-knee dresses to show off his body.
– All of his warriors, so far, have been dwarves or halflings.
Someone is seriously over-compensating here.

Also, I formally protest the interference of the pointy-eared squirt.
This “deus ex machina” way of resolving the tension is cheating!
Barbarians, dwarves, and halflings oh my!
……………. And here we go,….
