The Unicorn clearly senses that these Dwarves lack… purity. They probably smell bad, too, but that may be a general barbarian thing.
Also, it’s nice to see that these barbarians are racially integrated, at least to some extent. Most ‘barbarian’ societies would be strictly divided by race. Maybe they’re adopted?
Plus – Typhan-knee is a manly name – it means ‘hunter by starlight’, or some such, if memory serves. For all we know, Melan-knee means something equally… obscure. And manly.
I should have known. It’s so obvious now. As much as I love the gender change element of Exiern, I was really hoping for something better than Tiffany going home and turning her brother into a girl too. I wanted the clan to laugh, let bygones be bygones and then welcome their new “princess of the clan”.
Exiern should primarily be about Tiff getting screwed over by the transformation and then having to face and cope with what that means. It was kind of funny when the magic backfired and turned those priests into women too when they tried to cure her, but still. Going around and changing more and more random people into women isn’t the plot here.
I really hope the guys writing this have better plans than that.
Melany?HHHHA AHH AHA…
Said it Before FATE!
@JMV Not so certain.. If this a Self aware spell, it might want to spread.
From the very first Faden claimed some one was messing with his books.
Keep thinking a traveler or God type still around Setting this hole thing up.
Faden Did not create the spell he just threw all the White Magic power he could a Tiff and hoped for the best, bc the unicorn Stopped his black from working. What if there effect was not Random..
I mean they stated allthe higher powers were gone but Faden WAS Planning on sacrificing the Princess, That Implys Strongly there was a Higher power he was trying to control or sacrifice her to.. Before I get my head bitten off I said Implys we never found out what she was to be Sacrificed for.
So maybe this is the point Plan all along.
Or maybe Tiff had something rigged by a spellsinger before she left.
TJ – what? I guess so, but that doesn’t make any sense. She should know that switching genders will tend to mess around with one’s appearance enough that you won’t be recognized.
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
Typhan-Knee’s brother is called Melan-Knee? I guess all the males in the Knee family have female sounding names.
Heh, I know hope he ends up with same fate as his “Sister”.
Melany? Bhahahahaha!
Now we know where Teresa got her hairstyle from.
Check out the unicorn in the last panel: “Go ahead, dwarf, make my day.”
Melan-knee, Stephan-knee… close enough.
Stephan-Knee could be their dad.
A family of very manly names, that´s for sure.
@Articulo34: Agreed! XD
Dwarves on guard duty? Just offer them a deep fried rat and tell them you’ve seen a pile of glod up the road, you’ll soon be rid of them.
As for Tiff’s brother….not even gonna say it.

@deanatay. They could just be mercenary labor. Barbarian tribes do hire mercenaries on occasion.

Boy, that unicorn looks PISSED.
Now if we meet a barbarian named “Pee on – Knee” we could have one of those things where someone yells for Peonie, and they both say “What?”
*Sigh*

@Elfguy, well, a “peon” is a form of servant/worker/slave, and so if we had a “servant of the Knee family”…?
@JMV and dragondeathlord:
I have my plans for the plot. Whether you think they will be better or worse is entirely your prerogative.
@JVM – hey, it’s not guaranteed that things will head down that track. The name could be the entire joke, a simple reference back to Tiffany’s name…
Bahahahahahahahahahaha! oh goddess I cant stop laughing! that’s just too good!
It might be that Typhan-Knee and Melan-Knee have a sister named Bub-Ba.
That unicorn is getting uglier by the panel…
Melan-knee……BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I just realize on a reread that panel 3 and 4 hurt Tiff, since they did not know who she was.
rofl girliest barbarian tribe ever.

Now that Typhan-Knee has been made a knight by the king, she could use a new way of introducing herself: “We are the Knights Who Go…KNEE!”
I bet their mother is called “Jho-Knee”.
