Is he crying?
I love this comic; the king and his guards only make it that much better. Fantastic art work, a humorous story, great setting…seriously great job guys!
@pcktlnt. Yes, considering that he’s a member of a criminal bounty-hunter association and has not only failed his job miserably, but quite angered one of the VIPs with whom the association has an “understanding,” it should not be surprising that he’s crying tears of terror.
The “punishment” he’s expecting is bound to be fierce.
To quote B5, “he will know pain. He will know fear. AND THEN he will die.”
Actually, Azure, I think you missed the point. The assassin referred to the leader of the Theatre as ‘Mother’. The King is going in to see Mother. The King has a reputation. Mother, I dare say, probably has a reputation of her own. The assassin is trying very hard not to think about what the King is doing… to his Mother. Remember, it’s Good to be King. And, this is Exiern. Yeah, the assassin is suffering plenty right now.
So I take it that the piercing stare from the king in the last update was a lead-in to a flashback?
Aren’t there normally some wavy lines across the screen or eerie music to signal this?
(Admittedly, both hard to accomplish in a comic)

I think that “Mother” is more of a title, like “Madam,” “Lady” or “Matron” instead of an actual genetic mother. However a genetic mother is the only way that “bow chicka wow wow” would affect the assassin like that. i think that Azure is much more likely correct.
I disagree, Sashi, for one reason: the above comic gives us her ‘official’ title in the Theatre, ‘Madam of Ceremonies’. ‘Mother’, therefore, is likely not a title. I think it’s an actual reference to a genetic relation – the assassin is her son.
Besides, the guard didn’t ask, ‘You know what’s going to happen to you?’, or ‘You know what they’re discussing in there?’, but instead, ‘You know what’s going to happen in there?’. The King’s guards are extremely perceptive about other people’s emotional states – a useful skill for bodyguards. I think they know a booty call when they see one.
Are they going to make a new little assassin in there? I wonder how old that woman is, and how many little assassins she has.

totally off topic but someone is a Mom or Dad since “bow chicka wow wow” is right out of Phienas and Pherb.
the king is bonin his mum. so yea hes crying and trying not to think of it
…aand RVB and several other places. personally my first reaction was Tucker but I know of many other sources of it besides those 2.
