Gotta agree with Geusil – if the King is so badass with daggers, he could have just thrown it at her, and saved his guards a whole lot of bruising. I suspect Urtica is the type to let his guards get all beaten up, and _then_ take down the would-be assassin _just_ to prove he’s the badass. I hope those guys are well-paid. And have major medical.

Once again, if Tiff doesn’t want him, then I’ll gladly marry Urtica. And if Tiff does come to her senses and marry him (because, perfect match really, right?) then can I still join in?
Tiff WILL marry him, FOR THE GOLD! And NO you CAN’T join in. Not unless you LIKE being poisoned. The king has a great knowledge of poisons and counter-poisons, doesn’t he? Oh, the guards don’t look angry, they look hurt and tired, as they should. Besides, King Urtica never ordered them to engage the skin-walker. They did that all on their own.

Actually, she launched against the king and his guards. And they don’t have to wait for an order to act, they are supposed to be bodyguards, if anything seems like it wants to danger the king, they have to smash it to tiny bits.

@GG Nope, her Dad warned Urtica about her. In Royal Diplomacy terms that was basically giving him the catre blanche to kill her, just as long as he makes it look good. And Urtica has duly obliged. He stated he was onto her, he asked her to stand down, he let her tear through his bodyguard, he even let her attack him first. He has done the due diligence in giving her every opportunity not to attack him, but she did it anyway (perhaps she knew that since her dad ratted her out there was a nice little prison cell back home waiting for), Urtica can now say he reluctantly had to take measures to protect the Royal personage.
I expect any real trade deals between the Luminary Alliance and Rus have all already been conducted in secret and Urtica got some fairly heft concessions for having to to off Skinwalker Princess girl and keep her own dad’s hands clean. Classic mediaeval politicking.
Out of curiosity, are you familiar with the Order of the Stick comic? Because this king reminds me a lot of Tarquin.
CrypticMirror has the long and short of it. Urtica and the Rus really knew that there was only one way this was going to be resolved, but he wanted to dot the i’s and cross the t’s. This way, the Rus leaders are absolved of the dirty deed of eliminating one of their own, and Urtica can legitimately claim that he was defending himself and his kingdom.
Do you kiddies really think the knife had poison on it? It only makes the King look even more evil and badass to bluff the stupid, inept shapeshifting bitch but it beats turning her over to Tiffany….
That would solve the problem permanently which may not be what evil-King wants.

A. Marry the Kings Daughter.
B. Kill the King and Seize Power.

1) Marry the King’s daughter (who is 12 years your younger, of course)
2) Be Protestant, while the current King is Catholic
3) Get invited to invade the country and depose the King by that very country’s government
