“The Cheesecake is a lie is a clever thing you can say when you realize the jailbait who has been acting odd is an imposter.”

    – Good God, the book even explains itself. And for some reason, Mira looks way sexier with that evil stare in her eyes.

Okay, well the tide of people who called it have most definitely shown better foresight then my own optimism. Now for the million-pound question, what happened to the real Mira, and does this one have some kind of kill switch on our favourite mini-mage? If she doesn’t I think we’re about to lose a character.

The good girl line was particularly good, nice and creepy.

Isn’t Mira supposed to be like, 12 or something?

She looks a bit developed for a 12 year old, but still definitely underage.

I don’t view getting aroused by drawings as the same as getting aroused by real people (or images of real people). I can look at a picture of a real twelve year old, and nothing happens, whereas I can look at a drawing, or a video game image of a twelve year old, and that’s a different story.

Your moral stance may be different from my own, and I respect that, but please understand my position.

Went back through the archives to confirm something – Mira was cut down by one of the Rus shapeshifters when Cytx deflected his blow with magic. He ran off, and one of the other Rus (a woman) called for a medic. While Cytx was hiding and feeling sorry for himself, he met up with the Fracture, and was given a mask. It’s about then that ‘Mira’ appeared with him again. I suspect the real Mira is still alive, and being tended to, probably somewhere in the castle, or somewhere in the city – maybe the temple, or the Rus embassy, if they have one.

I think Mira did die…it was said that she was killed, and later that her ‘body’ disappeared…if someone is alive, you’d say “so-and-so disappeared”, you don’t use ‘body’ unless they are dead. I think someone, possibly the person that created the gelatin monster, stole Mira’s body so that she could possess it. That’s just my theory of course.

I’m just wondering what all this “fun” that fake, real, possessed, animated robotic construction or whatever-the-heck-she-is-we-don’t-know-at-this-point Mira is talking about……….i See trouble and more castle walls being busted in the near future……

definitely a field day for the kingdom’s carpenters and masons ;P

Well let’s not forget here windsinger; Exiern is a world where you actually get to take out Hero Insurance.

I’m sure there’s a whole caste of the Masons, Carpenters and Thatchers Guild devoted to repairing blast holes and wholesale destruction of interiors.

The King will probably just look up his usual contact for it ^^

Or unless you mistakenly think they are dead. How many times have you in a movie heard a variation on “The body disappeared!” only to find out the killer is still alive and kicking ready for the sequel.

It’s what we get from having 20-somethings play teenagers, noone left knows what an actual 12 year old looks like. The blond robot girl is probably “12”, she’s a toothpick in a dress.

My guess is Mira is in the range of 14-16. Too short for 17 in my opinion.

    Ah, I do love Jailbait…
*cough* In its occasional usage as a means to promote humour, of course. 🙂

    @Hikaro, agreed.

@M, What do you mean by “civilised”?
And 17 is still illegal in places such as California…

The legal age is as low as 12, with Angola being the sole example I could find in 5 minutes, with several places having it at 13. It then runs the whole gamut up to 21, depending on country.

Regardless of age or legality, the moral angle is entirely the business of BOTH participants, unless there are more than two. In any event, this is one situation where majority vote fails to apply, or casting vote. Outsiders can keep their moral outrage to themselves until it is actually called for. Failure of one party to consent is about the only real grounds for outsider involvement.

    Discuss.

Sorry, Mugz, but no. The age-of-consent laws are because younger than that, the prospective sexual partner cannot give >informed and wise< consent. It's the same reason that children under a certain age cannot sign a binding contract. Whereas any male old enough to shave knows at least a little about how to BS a girl into the sack; and the younger the girl, the easier she is to bullshit. But the consequences for her are the same whether she's 13 or 50.

“I know you are but what am I?”

This book is pure awesomesauce , I think it’s not being as insulting to Cytx because he is connected to the wizards that “owns” the book ( I forget his name.)

This, GrimGhost, is why the USA has ‘statutory’ rape, because of misconceptions about ‘informed and wise consent’. Somebody in your law system believed, completely, that nobody under a certain age can be mature enough to give informed or wise consent in matters that they thought were reserved for adults.

I happen to agree, in general that is. I know that teenagers are the most unruly, hormonal, irresponsible and mentally unstable people in our society. I wouldn’t trust nearly any person between the ages of 12 and 18 with anything more dangerous than safety scissors. Or a book about talking animals. And when younger, there’s not enough life experience in the average 8 year old to fill a teaspoon, so how could they know enough about anything?

To explain though, I live in England, we don’t have ‘statutory’ rape, even though our Legal Age is 16. It’s because we also know that a child of 8 can become a full-time carer for their only parent diagnosed with senile dimentia, able to wash clothes, cook, clean, iron, go shopping, organise their entire day around school and their parent for years before social services or their neighbors can find anything wrong with the child’s life because they’re still happy, hardworking and content with their situation… and if that’s not ‘mature’ then what really is?

Each case of underaged sex, if raised as an issue by somebody (if it becomes an issue, it’s usually one raised by the people involved or by a parent who discovers it), then it’s dealt with on a strictly case-by-case business. There is no one ruling for it. And it’s not exactly illegal if both parties can state clearly before witnesses that they gave their consent.

You may have noticed a year or so back one of the biggest news stories that came from our ‘scandalous’ tabloids (all the ones that aren’t financial or strictly political) was that one young man had become the new youngest father ever; his child was born when he was 12 and his girlfriend was 13. There was no lawsuit, there was no arrest, their parents (and I despair at humanity for it) were actually proud their son had ‘got some’ so early.

It was that one story that they ran with for weeks, and it annoyed the crap out of me because suddenly all the kids I’d ever had the misfortune to advise in anything started asking The Awkward Questions. I had to say ‘ask your parents’ more times that month than I’ve ever had to before or since. >_____<

In any case, I'll say *some* laws about underaged sex are because of the decision that younger than a certain age the person cannot give consent, but not all of them are. It's fine to have values, but you shouldn't really judge issues like this based on one country's laws.

Just like people everywhere; different standards apply ^^

Some of those standards can be pretty damn scary.

I would state that this is a matter best kept within the family, except that that’s often where the worst abuse takes place. Sometimes it is even consensual.

This brings us to the difference between ‘consent’ and ‘informed consent’.

The major difference between a child and an adult in this regard is which type of consent the person is capable of giving. ‘Informed’ does not imply only an educational aspect, but also an emotional one. Some people mature fairly early on, others later.

Elfguy, I love you, I would totally volunteer for that!

If it helps – I am a girl, I somehow feel that would raise my chances of being ritualistically sacrificed ……… 😉
