That is one well thought out, Karmic-Curse. Tiff seriously needs to readjust her views on femininity. Actually, it seems Teresa probably has more than a few issues revealed there too.
Sounds like the king isn’t too happy about her changes, I don’t think he wants someone who sees herself as cattle. In fact, I think he would like the headstrong Tiffany better than a submissive Tiffany.
I guess all we have to do is make her properly angry again. 🙂
It becomes a matter of balance, then. We, as the audience, neither want the curse to go away (no more sexy violent barbarian Tiff), nor do we want the curse to fulfill itself (stupid, submissive chattel Tiff). As with many good stories, the ending is boring and inevitably disappointing – it’s the journey we enjoy, the struggle between the two poles. Keep fighting, Tiff!
Okay, what do you mean by “It only breaks” when she matches her expectations?
Because honestly, that sounds to me like the spell breaks, as in, she reverts to being a male. And that just doesn’t sound right.
Yeah that unfortunate is dripping with sarcasm in my mind, let’s face it the scheming old git wants himself a perfect missus doesn’t he, and a barbarian warrior’s idea of a woman would be pretty boss as yer queen, no?
I doubt Kingie wants a submissive court-lady. If he wanted one of those he’d have one already, it’s good to be the king after all. On the other hand he was impressed by the woman who punched him out and then planned to try and sell it as a gesture of respect. And could take a punch herself. Lets face it, rescuer of the Princess or not, if anyone else had tried punching out a king, the only reward they’d be getting would be a short drop and a sudden stop. I think the king likes strong women.
I agree that the King is not pleased with this turn of events. As CrypticMirror says he could have his pick of ‘normal women’; he likes Tiff because she is very different. If you think about it all we have to do is look at Peonie to see the King’s ideals of women; he raised a daughter who is headstrong, confident and doesn’t take crap from anybody, not even him, and yet he obviously loves her very much. In this light his machinations towards making Tiffany his queen are really quite sweet; he isn’t looking for arm candy, he wants a strong woman, someone he would enjoy being around. I bet if we were to learn more about Peonie’s mother we would find that she was a strong, independent woman as well.
Have to agree with “the king wants a strong wife” side on this one. *shrug* Even if the king does want a submissive wife a strong woman who submits only to you is hotter than a weak woman who submits to every one and every thing…. specially when you add in the whole courtly intrigue thing.
It’s time to educate Tiffany on the many different kinds of women there are, and adjust her idea of what makes an ideal woman, at the very least.
That, or find some way to force-break the curse, but I don’t see that happening anytime soon. More and more, it looks like Faden was the supreme dark mage of Exiern-world. The guy was wasting his potential…
So this curse is simular to one in the book River of the Dancing Gods. The more you fight it, the more it fights back. I am wondering if our changed priest is having simular issues.
Rock – yea I was kind of thinking the king was a whips and chains kind of guy… the only thing that makes any sense.
at any rate the big question now is if there is any way to permanently balance the curse. I mean if it breaks as soon as tiff matches her expectations, then at this rate it won’t take long after the king marries and bed’s her for tiff to break the curse leaving the king married to a man.. akward. Although it would be ironic if at that stage tiff was too adjusted to female form and embarked on a quest to change back =P
@CrypticMirror Couldn’t have put that better myself. 😛
Next logical step (for the King) would be to make sure his future queen doesn’t turn back into a steroid abusing muscleman, and oh boy did that sound wrong or what.
This is why people shouldn’t act like the King does because it always bites you in the a!s. Especially when the person or thing doing the biting plays real hardball.
I think there’s a misconception with many as to what the curse may really be, and what breaking it really means. It may well be that the ‘curse’ is the continual process of feminization, not the fact that Tiffany is female. When she reaches a balance the curse is broken — she stops changing — but that doesn’t necessarily mean she becomes male again.
Yeah, I’d like (much) more detail on this curse before making forecasts on how it will progress and what breaking it means. When is a curse not a curse, when it is something that makes you happy.
You’ve got to wonder though, Teresa, her views on womanhood have got to be almost as skewed as Tiffany’s if her “ideal” woman is basically a glorified Barbie doll.
Not skewed per-se in tiff case, she comes from a barbarian tribe where woman are basically there for tending to their men. nothing more. Even though she knows better (probably) after her travel and her relationship with peonie, She was raised all her life as a man expected to take a wife and treat her as (basically) a slave. Fighting that won’t be easy.
I agree on theresa though, it would explain a lot.
@Brandi I would agree with the balance concept, Having a spell permanently active might be too problematic, so from a standpoint of the spell inventor, it would be logical to have to stop at one point. No need to keep using magical energy once the goal is reached anyway.
It would seem there are two ways of ‘getting rid’ of this curse – either reversing it, whereas Tiff reverts to normal, or allowing the curse to complete itself, establishing a new ‘normal’ state. In either case, the curse ‘magic’ goes away.
As for Tiff respecting Peonie now, that’s a very recent thing, and likely causes a conflict in Tiff’s mind. Tiff does still think of most women as worthless chattel, but that is starting to change.
This actually gives me reason to hope. Up until now, there have only been two resolutions to this – Tiff becomes a man again, or Tiff becomes brainless chattel girl. But if Tiff’s perceptions of women are changing, then perhaps the curse can change her into something Tiff can respect. And we still can has hawt barbarian chick!
True, we have no idea exactly how the curse “breaks” however until I see evidence otherwise i’m going to assume that it means breaking the curse would mean reversal back to male form as when the priest broke their curse (except for teresa who has likely already accepted too much of her new form to allow the spell to be broken) they all resumed male form and didn’t just stop being pushed twords a female mind set.
However while that’s the best evidence we have so far that the curse “breaking” would mean being turned back into a male, that doesn’t mean that if the curse “Fulfills” itself by Tiff’s expectations matching her reality that it won’t work in the way you claim it does… after all a curse “breaking” by interruption of some sort or by it “fulfilling” its full destiny could mean 2 entirely separate things
You know this could be a source of near god hood Tiffany. I mean If she starts seeing women as these super adaptive creatures greater than Man in all ways (Classic Amazon) Mind set she become a Classic Amazon. Hey even if she starts looking in the mirror(A Vain thing Tiffany Always believed they did) And starts saying and believing she’s perfect As a WOMAN (classic chauvinistic pig Thing Tiffany Believes Women do) Well they might have to slap a S on her chest and a Red cape and call it a day as the curse now reinforces the belief that women All think there invincibly. As Tiffany now thinks that about women as a Woman and It happen.
I needed this I really did, I’m a real stickler for “why the f*ck is this dumb s!!t happening?” explanations and this really stopped my heart from being audible. Seriously I could here my heart pump as my blood boiled with rage.
Did I mention how much I like this comic? It makes me afraid to read the ending, has it ended? Because I know it’s going to bs moral lesson about Typhan accepting his womanhood and completely becoming Tiffany body and mind.
This whole will vs nature you got going on is just extraordinary albeit not the best thing I ever read but for webcomic barring some mandatory cliches but damn good.
Thomas can burn though she earned her womanhood she’s grown beyond the measure dick to world class bitch.
So if we just hypnotised her into believing that the ideal woman is a literally omnipotent goddess… she would become that… and be able to break her own curse?

Well… Crudmuffins!
Oh, this is bad.
Even the KING thinks this is bad.
That is one well thought out, Karmic-Curse. Tiff seriously needs to readjust her views on femininity. Actually, it seems Teresa probably has more than a few issues revealed there too.

I imagine Peonie is pretty thunderstruck by today’s revelation.
Will she be able to handle something being wrong and it’s not her fathers fault?

Tiff’s -IDEA- of an +IDEAL+ woman?
Welcome aboard Dan!
Who says the king doesn’t like it? Maybe he’s really trying to push Tiff in that direction.
Okay, what do you mean by “It only breaks” when she matches her expectations?

@Jayesell
I believe they’re still putting up Drowemos’ buffer. I don’t think Dan’s writing has started being posted yet.

Holy….! Somebody needs to get Tiffany outa that castle and onto tha battlefield NOW!

whoops that was actually in response to crypticmirror, not rock =P

Strangely enough, Tiff doesn’t see Peonie in the “breeding and laundry” way. Tiff actually RESPECTS the princess on most occasions.

…and yet again, you’re all reading into the story too much. Stop analyzing and enjoy.
I dunno … brainless chattel girl has some potential for fun mistakes too.
I wonder if each time tiffy contaminates someone else with the curse, maybe it gets a bit weaker each time.
