Okay, so, Mira’s… here. That just doesn’t jive with what I remember. I’m still thinking it’s some sort of doll, made by the Fracture to keep Cytx company – she’s too bold and confident to be the real Mira. But, I could be wrong. I actually kinda hope I am – I liked Mira.
Well if you look back, this could be the real Mira since the wounds she suffered didn’t seem terribly severe, and perhaps she merely passed out of shock. Ctyx may have said later “A wizard who can kill his best friend” because he didn’t know then.
But then again, if the masks let others see and hear what they want to, perhaps this is an image of Mira reflecting how he remembers her and how he would’ve liked to be bf/gf, made to appease him. The real Mira may very well be dead, but if you also look back, the lady in the purple/black dress and blue hair, when she lost her mask, didn’t have a face behind it. Yet Ctyx and Mira do, and we saw Ctyx don the mask, so more than likely Mira really is alive.
I suspect that this isn’t the real Mira. And of course she hasn’t actually taken off the mask – he just thinks she has, because that would prove she’s real, and that’s what he wants to believe.
However, even if that isn’t the real Mira, it doesn’t mean for sure that Mira is dead. If the real Mira turns up, and rudely punctures his happy delusion… could be fireworks!
I wonder what would happen if he tried to take out scary lightning-face lady…
Hmm, now that’s a point. I assumed from the fact that they’re both holding a mask at different points was to show that she’d taken off hers… But there’s nothing in the artwork to prove it.
Devious, Drowemos, very devious. And intrigueing too, let’s not forget that no matter how seriously she appeared to be injured, Ctyx didn’t take Mira with him when he ran, he left her there thinking she was dead. Meaning that the most likely people to pick her up and try to save her would be the city guards, not the Fractured. Unless they pulled some mask-based trickery to claim her before she got shipped off to a healer.
Theories? 1. She deeeaaad, son. The Fractured either made a golem to look like her, or turned her into a golem to imitate life. Both of those would keep Ctyx on their side and willing to help them.
2. She no deeeeaaad, boy. The Fractured saved her, both of them are now helping the Fractured out of gratitude, and we’re reading too much into this ‘what he wants to see and hear’ business.
Why would her mask affect him, and the other ones wouldn’t? Because they can turn the effect on or off at will is a good one. Why would they choose to have only one of their number do this, in the form of his sadly-deceased friend? Because they can use him.
In any case, until there’s a panel to prove it by her putting one on or taking one off, we won’t know for sure.
And in all counts, I’m awaiting explosions from the boy, there’s a reason these guys are at the party, and it’s not to enjoy the hors’doeuvres.
It could be her, because in the “Begin info dump…NOW” panel where the little helper girl was babbling about stuff, she states that she had “disappeared even though everyone thought she was dead” comment, so it really could be her. Now how alive she is, is another story.
Thaylien: don’t forget Option #3 – Mira’s not dead, but not with the Fracture. The guard are healing her in secret, and the Fracture’s made a copy of her (or she’s a mind-figment) to keep Cytx in line. Which means, hopefully, that we’ll have a fakeMira-realMira catfight in the future! What? A guy can dream…
[Contemplative yet unsure face] Yeeeaah, I can see where you’re coming from deanatay, but I’d rather have waited until she’d filled out a little more (and grown up a little more than that) for that daydream.
Point taken about option three though.
Also, shame Drowemos isn’t even hinting, a subtle shift could send this in any direction!
The question I want to know is. If the masks make you see and hear what you want to see and hear, but Ctyx is immune because he’s magic, how did Mira learn what they do? The Fracture can’t tell her, she’d just hear what she wanted to hear, and not necessarily know, unless she’s magic too? So the two big theories here for me, it’s not Mira or she’s somehow magic now.

Uhh… wasn’t expecting magic like that, I can honestly say ^^ The masks are cooler than I’d thought.
But can I say that I called it on her being the real thing? No, guess I can’t, I just theorised in random directions XD
But the two of them are utterly adorable, I’m glad Drowemos brought them into the story.
Aww… cute.
Why not the real Mira? She was pretty strong willed before and he did call her a nymph and tell her she was pretty. It follows…
And she was injuried but our respected author never said how bad or that she died.
and where does this name, the Fracture, come from?
That sounds exactly like he’d want to see and hear…

All lies. Drow just sat back and said, “Dammit, I liked that character, why’d I kill her off? Oh well…PLOT TWIST!! Mwahahaa!”
I’m on to you, D… -.-

Apparently, she’s kissing him… I can jive with that.
10 Points to doug, for paying attention.
Al-tho, I want to be the one giving the “bear guy” his attitude adjustment.

Yeah, I don’t need a translation for the “Pshaaaaaaaah”.
