    What if part of the curse is that he cannot turn back until he has experienced everything as a woman he cannot as a man? At this point that would leave only pregnancy and childbirth.

    Oh boy, that king surely read his Machiavelli! The last scene reminds me of a rather popular saying in Northern Germany, which roughly – and I hope somehow correct – translated would be: “Says the bishop to the king: You keep them poor, I keep them dumb.”

    Very Machiavellian.

    You don’t live to be an old king without out thinking your opponents. I am glad I am not a royal of another kingdom trying to deal with him.

    Dude, come on. “You may to marry or not”? What does that mean? Is he quoting Yoda?

    Ooo, maybe the sneaky King is just using Tiff as a leverage to get her daughter to submit to the role of baby making machine. This may all simply be about the royal line of succession that is currently threatened by lack of male offsprings in King’s family.

    News at eleven! Royal guards condone evil schemes!

    Maybe not condone them but they are paid very well and get all the best enchanted gear, remove that armour and I wouldn’t be suprised if our 7ft-tall-more-powerful-than-a-beserker guard is a 5ft nothing soldier who did something very brave in service of the king. I’d rather my king was evil than decided my uber gear should be a giant chicken costume and that I be paid in glitter 🙂

    @Alveric

    Don’t forget menopause, problems conceiving a child, having to come up with ways to excuse yourself from having sex, etc. There are plenty of things she can still do as a woman she couldn’t have or wouldn’t have ever considered doing as a man.

    is it me or is the princess looking at us readers as to say: “Oh my god! somebody help me out here. somebody send me help or something.”

    A 5′ tall man in super powered magical armor would make a great guard, true. A 6’5″ tall Arnold Schwarzenezzer/Jackie Chan (in the prime of their lives) man in super powered magical armor would make an absolutely amazing guard. I don’t think the king’s guards are 5′ soldiers who did something brave — the king seems far too cynical and Machiavellian to be handing out rewards like that when it’s his personal safety on the line.

    Princess Peonie values free will in important personal decisions.
    Her father values his will over another.
    … I have a new found respect for Princess Peonie.

    @ElimGarak: I’m guessing that it’s supposed to say “you may want to marry or not”. And later in the same speech bubble, I think “hier” should be “heir”.

    That king sure wants an heir though. Did he explain why he couldn’t just marry some noblewoman and have her pop a few out? Or does it have to be someone of ‘special significance’? And will the king be just as eager after he’s been turned into a woman? And given the curse, is he really that confident that any child of Tiffany would turn out to be male? (Or wasn’t that important?)

    What would happen to that heir if the curse was fixed/reversed while Tiffany was pregnant?

    @Alveric.

    I doubt the curse is like that. It’s probably far more simple.

    There’s a sad bit of logic there.

    The king is trying to marry a “barbarian of questionable loyalty and uncontrolled temper”. He’s not going to survive the honeymoon.

    Replace “Royalty” with “Actor portraying an Expert” and you have the governing philosophy of the grand US of A. 😛
