It works, Haides, if you consider the DAGGER struck the severed hand in the palm, which was pointed straight at her, with enough force that the wrist-stump acted a bit like a pole-vault lifting it off the ground to where it struck the tree as shown (though still pretty low, probably barely an inch from touching the ground, just out of the panel frame).
