I read this comic since nearly the start, and only know i think “oh, that’s why the dragon don’t killed him…”.
And now I finally get the joke. Here’s a hint:
It’s not a sexual joke.
… Still don’t get the joke. Oh well.
I feel like there was a large leap in logic here that you have to be in-universe to make.
The joke is that tadpoles evolve into frogs, and Denver will evolve as well. By calling him tadpole Faran was saying he was a baby dragon all along, without giving away the secret, in a snarky insulting way. The creature we just saw was Denver’s sister partway through her transformation to adult form. Tiffany put it together, she just couldn’t kill Denver when she came back even knowing that he will become something like what attacked them before.

its perfect. The warrior chick gets the soft guy, and the badass warrior man gets a kickass mount when they both hit their true forms.
Probably some melted steel would be a better substitute.
