If Niels got corrupted somehow Peonie is doomed. The guy’s the superman of anonymous soldiery.
Now this can’t be good… Oh crap! What about her escort? I envision him doing something rather stupidly brave… like trying to take on Neils to save the princess… I’m not even sure that he could come close to surviving either.
Well, it might be someone/something mascarading as Niels while the real deal is distracted elsewhere.
Or it might be that Neils having seen the fake Peonies has somehow figured that he needs Peonies help to avert a dangerous situation for the king.

So how big are Peonie breast implants now? They look great. I agree with GrimGhost, great first panel and this should be an interesting plot twist.

Anyway, we know she’s not a fake, the distinct lack of runes, the 100% opacity setting on her skin, the fact that she’s wearing clothes, all of those things indicate real Peonie.
On the other hand, what’s there to indicate ‘real’ Neils? I like the idea of him being taken over by the Gelateonies and now the heroes are going to have to face him as an advance guard of whatever else is coming.
The whole thing could be quite… dramatic [cue lopsided, wolfish grin]
So, I don’t know how I missed this before now, but the two guards are named Niels and Bohr? Like the esteemed Danish physicist (the most aptly named of all Danish physicists)?
Can we just get Peonie and Tiff together already….
