    I’m glad I don’t have to attend Exiern-orld’s version of Christmas at Peonie’s home…

We can’t go on forever… with suspicious minds…

That, and he really can be kind of a jerk. Honest about it, completely straightforward too, which makes it both funny and kind of a good thing when he’s not being a jerk to you, but even funnier when people call him on it ^^

Just don’t get on his bad side… you wouldn’t like him when he’s… tetchy.

You know Kingie…a lot of Royal families opt for convents for their daughters, just sayin’.

He’s kinda right, and so is Neils. Real old fashioned ruling royalty doesn’t have the option of just thinking about themselves and inner circle of friends. That is how revolutions start. Peonie needs to grow up.

Cryptic: Yeah, having seen the priests I wouldn’t trust them with Peonie, epecially the ones that are now priestesses.

This arc really has introduced some of my favorite characters for certain. The Knight and the King are great characters. I’m also intrigued to see how this goes.

Am I the only one who finds the knights first sentence in panel two very confusing?

bilocation: I hope you aren’t complaining and spoil it for the rest of us… πŸ™‚

As for the “knight,” the proper term is “guard.” The jobs were quite different. A knight was a military leader, generally mounted (in some languages, the word for knight means “rider” or “horseman”), supported by a few squires and a larger company of men-at-arms. Knights generally did not hang around the castle or palace, but were deployed in sensitive areas, like border zones. Knight errantry (as in the Arthurian legends) was mostly a notion of the romances and other fiction-like constructs of mediaeval times. Knighthood became organized into independent Orders during the later Middle Ages, in the time of the Crusades; the best known Order being the Templars, but there were a number of others. Some became corrupt and misused their martial skills, leading to the term “robber knights.”

Niels and Bhor are _guards_, not knights. (Knights would have the honorific “Sir” precede their names, even when addressed by the monarch.) I assume that the physicists among us have gotten the joke by now, also.

Not good to threaten Peonie, by the way: “I forget what the penalty is for compassing the death of the heir apparent; something humorous, but lingering, with boiling oil or melted lead…”

You don’t suppose it’s a side effect of Tiff’s curse, do you? As Tiff shrinks, the princess seems to grow.

That would be pretty entertaining πŸ™‚

Besides, lets be honest about it …. it’s the boobies that attracted a lot of the readers in the first place.

Is it just me or Peonie’s breast are getting bigger with every passing month? Seriously, she doubled the size since last year.

I think Drowemos takes remarks like that as encouragement – if someone in the forums says, ‘Is it just me, or do Peonie’s boobs look bigger?’, he starts drawing them bigger.

    …

Love the fact that the King looks genuinely concerned for his daughter in the last panel. It’s sweet. πŸ™‚

I’ve got the impression that the King does genuinely care for his daughter, just that he is also a feckin’ King too and he has to balance Peonie against affairs of state and the wellbeing of #foo-amount of subjects. The chains of command weigh heavily upon him. Probably why he thought getting Tiff as dual Princess-Protector and Wife-who could give him an heir that actually thinks about the kingdom was a good proposition. Peonie seriously illustrates the main weakness of an inherited monarchy, you will eventually end up with a short-sighted, flighty, ditz in charge and it all goes to hell.
