Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
The king was under, over, behind and every other position he knows with his spell singing hoochie momma. He used his magic wand to en-spell his new wife and consort.
Be grateful we’re not dealing with Tiff’s older brother Will. When he gets angry, he REALLY loses it, and doesn’t remember anything about it afterwards.
Gruhl: “I thought Kingy was too cunning to knock on a door from straight in front of it.”
I wondered about that too. In frame two, he is standing off to the side, getting ready to knock with his left hand.
The next frame shows him backing straight across the hall. I can’t see how that works; I think it’s an art error. He should have stepped back down the hall.
He never did get to knock, which is why he restrains his guard; he realizes he, personally, is not being attacked.
Tiff doesn’t even know he’s there until he announces himself; she imagines herself running Faden through. (“I’m going to get Faden, and I’m going–” STAB) The door was just a convenient target.
Her rage is misplaced, though. Faden meant a more deadly spell for her; the current spell is mocking her own attitudes.
I do agree, though, that this is a satisfying strip.
Well, the spell seems to be strengthening. Wonder if it’ll cause things like breast expansion or personality effects if it continues to strengthen like this.
Tzx, the second frame is fine, if you are standing to the side of the door, left shoulder to the wall, as caution would dictate. It’s the last frame, showing the King facing the door, that’s off.
Look at it this way. he prepares to knock, not being particularly nervous about it, and when the sword plunges through he starts backing up with the wrong foot, which turns him. or maybe the second pane is just him reaching out to knock while still moving into place. presumably he caught the noises from inside in time and stood back to wait. and don’t forget; backing down the hall would be a retreat back the way he came. not a very kingly way to behave. 😛
I would guess he reflexive darts back between his guards and it more we missing a panel showing that. realy have to near indestuctable guards, where else would you go if some strange event happens anywhere near you?
besides, if really showing caution, would have had one of the guards knock for him and announce his presence while the king behind him with the other.
Um, Standing beside a door to knock on it became standard police and military procedure after people got the ability to shoot through doors. Especially since doors have gotten thinner over the centuries. From the looks of it, that’s a solid wood door, probably 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick. Tiffany has a magic sword otherwise I don’t think it would have penetrated that far.
@DocSavage: Exiern is rather casual about anachronism, but ranged weapons, even magical ones, are in use. I have no trouble believing Urtica has the habit of standing to the side of a door when he knocks.
Tiff running the door through with her sword is a different matter. Check out 2014/12/23/visitors-pass/ where Peonie’s lover arrives with the saddle bag and “bouquet”. That door is inches thick. I doubt most males would be able to penetrate it in a single blow.
Don’t really care, though. Emotionally, the scene is great.
Her line about Faden is lovely – the great thing about revenge on Faden is that you can do it over and over in so many ingenious ways, because he heals – even cutting his head off neither killed no even silenced him.
Guesticus, I’m betting that those three crashes in the first frame are the two cups and the bottom crashing into a wall. I’m betting that she’d rather be naked in public that be caught wearing that abomination.

HULK ANGRY
I’m going to guess that the spell actually converted the uniform material into brass (or brass-colored fabric).
More importantly, the Hummer is not present. This suggests the King is not under her control.
He as not under her control. He was under her protection.

A man changed biology and bone structure, and you guys are still worried about what happened to her clothes?
4th panel is just our beloved Typhan-Knee being Typhan-Knee.
I would say so, Your Majesty, yes…
Astute. I guess that’s why he’s king.
Oh, look… the king is scheming again… 🙂
Any minute now his pants will fall down thanks to the North Wind cutting the belt while leaving the king unharmed
Okay, looks like it wasn’t a dream, poor door didn’t deserve to die like that
Bad time? Na, looks like a normal afternoon around here to me. =^_^=
Bad time? Well that depends on how much he likes the new outfit! 😉 good to be the ?!

Barbarian rage, indeed.
Disappointed. I thought Kingy was too cunning to knock on a door from straight in front of it.
Otherwise, great as usual! 🙂

Its fine if you want to get stabbed by a berserker in the middle of full on rage.
“We’ll come back.”
The hand of the 2nd panel looks weird considering where is the body according to the head.

@Simon: How can you tell when Urtica is scheming? He’s breathing. (I’m convinced even his dreams are scheme-related. 😉 )

NO!
I’m craving chocolate and BLOOOD!
It appears the more you fight it, the more it fights back. Tiffany had better get used to it or reach her ideal female state soon.

Behind that door, Knight Tiffany is stomping around the room in naked fury.
I bet that’s a sight to see.
Unless she ripped off that metal bikini, she isn’t naked 🙁

Just had a scary thought! What if it’s all TIFF’s clothes? Anythink she touches gets slutefied! Poney will want all the throw always!
50srefugee: well yeah, she did ‘TEAR’ something
Poor Tiff is she ever gonna get a break (at least a breather)
