Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
I love the lay out and art in this update the colors are nice to. The lighting in panel one is very good.
I don’t remember Tiff getting close to Isabel. She seems unnaturally concerned for her. Or is the a woman protecting women thing?
@50srefugee: I’m guessing it was locked or something, so they couldn’t just walk up and open it while it was unguarded, whereas it could be easily opened from within by someone who was already inside it.
@AlexJ If it’s not Isabel, they’re in REALLY big trouble – because they’re accepting that the voice from outside is Isabel … and because the voice from outside knows details of their plot.
I really think that Typh”s agitation has more to due with her nature than any friendship with Isabel. She simply isn’t comfortable with any plan that doesn’t begin and end with ‘barbarian smash.’
@Jake – wait, when was it established that they became friends/friendly? When was Isabel introduced beforehand? Isn’t the first time we see her when she is already turned to a statue?
Hrmmm… reading those 10 or so pages, I don’t see how they have become ‘friendly’. Though Tiff’s latter response to Esme to make her look better than Theresa “If you want to live” hits all the right (cliched-but-still) comedic and ironic notes.
@Tajz Did you reed those strips? Because they obviously became friendly during the course of preparing for the party and Isabel even comforted Typhan when Typhan was feeling down.

I love that Typhan-Knee is so worried about Isabel. I like how close they’ve become. I’m hoping he gives her a big hug in the next strip.
This also means it’s a good thing they told Typhan-Knee that Isabel consented to be turned to stone.
I don’t think that’s suck a good idea.
AAAAhhh …
Still no idea what she found.
We’ll probably find out soon enough.
I love how they are using church traditions against the church
Something tells me Admiral Akbar’s advice should be heeded about now
It’s not her
The lights on the first panel are just gorgeous. If I could ask, how many hours on average does it take you to make each page?
@Nef – I will reach out and ask Shipeng, I’m not sure if he is as dedicated to reading all the comments as I am.

Wait–if the wagon is unguarded, and if they’re going to sneak Isabel on-board now, why not sneak her aboard in the first place? What am I missing?
@Bad Timing: It’s not unnatural, Typhan-Knee and Isabel became friends, that was established. They get along pretty well.

It probably is Isabel showing up to give them the book she found. They do seem to recognize the voice.
I really think that Typh”s agitation has more to due with her nature than any friendship with Isabel. She simply isn’t comfortable with any plan that doesn’t begin and end with ‘barbarian smash.’
@Brandi Can’t it be both?
@Brandi Except Typh’s clearly worried about Isabel in these panels. Typhan-Knee even states he’s worried Isabel might’ve run into guards.
You really can’t say Typhan-Knee’s friendship with Isabel isn’t a factor.
Ben got the right idea though. Typhan-Knee is probably worried about Isabel and wants to smash something.
@Jake Thank you.
Hmm, if the golem twins are keeping watch, shouldn’t one of them knocked on the door, or simply opened it for her? o_O
Heh. Personally, I say “Trust in Rem…but verify”. 😉

@TajZ No, the first time we see her is back when Typhan-Knee and Pione return to the castle, the princess introduces her as her lady in waiting.
This is Isabel’s first appearance.

… more-so that Tiff and Theresa have become friends.
