She’s not wrong…
Strippers start off with more material…
Me too. But I didn’t think ‘Comic Book Superheroine’ was a profession in the world of EXIERN. 😉
I think she was thinking of the world’s oldest profession
When did Sparkle Pants leave her pond? I so wish that there was a list on appearances for these characters as I forget so much about them during the long wait between seeing them last.
@Other Maybe they were paid in trade?
@Ben
Doesn’t look like something a flint knapper would wear. /Pratchett
When you think of it, prostitution can’t be the oldest profession. Someone has to earn the money to pay them first. Second oldest, maybe.
@Riniko: I think she tried to drown Pip as a sacrifice to the gods, and he spell-sung his way out at the cost of turning female. Apparently he took the Nereid with him as a passenger in his body.
Nah, if memory serves she tried to kill him to fuel her escape from the pool so she could return to fighting the Dreamers. Pip did spellsing himself out when she was thrown off by learning the Authorities had done the job already, but their magics interacted weirdly and they fused.
Sheesh. Just because one size really does fit all doesn’t mean they’re all in the same trade, lady!
Thought the reason why their magics interacted weirdly was because Tiff’s magic was floating around (wasn’t Ce originally a guy or something?)
They both used to be, so yeah, Faden’s magic is in the mix as well.
I think this arc is now actively hurting the site.
The story isn’t interesting and that it’s been stretched over five months now just makes it that little bit more tedious.
The art is basic. It’s functional to be sure but there’s no feel of movement, transition between panels, and backgrounds are practically non-existent.
Another problem is that it relies on knowledge of what has come before but if this was my first visit to Exiern I wouldn’t have a clue what any of this is about, and it isn’t interesting enough to make me want to find out.
Perhaps I am being a negative nancy here but I genuinely think that if this goes beyond six months, the site won’t be worth saving.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t really any choice in the matter for a number of reasons as to why this had to happen the way it happened and the pace it’s currently happening at.
Isn’t it a great thing that people have a chance to read what came before, isn’t it? And if this is the first time reading, who reads backwards?
The Japanese?
@Gary, I am not sure I follow. Since when is world building and story telling, a bad thing? I am interested in this arc to see where it goes, and we also have this strange new women too. Just cause you might not be liking it, seem kinda rude to suggest the whole site hurting cause of something as i said, you dislike.
No, the Japanese don’t read backwards, they just read right-left (to them, they are still reading forwards), by ‘backwards’ meant ‘reverse order’
I agree with Gary. Long time reader, one time Patreon. I return every now and then to see if anything has moved on, and it hasn’t, so I have not renewed Patreon. I remember some issues going on, behind the scenes- so perhaps the recent artist could not continue? and this is- a newish artist- who is not horrid but not great. And as far as I can tell, without re-reading hundreds of pages- the story line is either picking something newish up- reverting to another storyline, or trying awkwardly to show some background on the events that left off with the cliff falling… Personally I am wondering about the city above the mountain, or some such thing that was left off quite a while back. Any of these ways- this recent group is not pulling me back in, and that makes me sad. Nor have we had much explanation. I hope there is more for the Patreons. /shrug
Twas a joke Guesticus. I’m well aware (you’d hope so after the best part of a decade trying to learn the language).
Artist for the main storyline which ended with that literal cliffhanger needed a break which he’s had and is now building for the first time in a long time a much needed buffer. So, he’ll be back.
At the time, everyone was running out of steam and out of money so this was a much needed circuit-breaker. The timing was coincidental but fortuitous.
It was meant to have been running twice a week but for the reasons above, had to be weekly because among other things, the financial side of things. The hope is that 2018 is going to be much better than it would have been had this all not been done.
It’ll hopefully be more clear closer to the time but trust Scott with this one.
@Oruncrest: Wrong!
Those are clearly Comic-Book SuperVILLAINESS costumes.
