Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
The current Doomsayer has retconned her memories.
She doesn’t want to announce it to the crowd.
Alicia should know because of the psychic link so she’s compromised like their dragon parents, or a fake.
Typh is straight out lying for some as yet unknown personal gain she’ll get by keeping Alicia here at the castle.
Seriously, where did she get that interpretation of Typh’s name from?…
Well, the “Valley” in the Northern Wilderness is protected by “The Dreamer” and Typh was specifically told by “The Narrator” that she could not return and would forget its existence the moment she left. So yes, Typh does truly believe that Denver left a note and disappeared. And yes, he did say he would return after some personal reflection.
I am surprised that the bystanders are bystanding so close to the big scary lady on the big scary animal. If this had actually turned into a fight they would definitely be in the ‘collateral damage’ zone.
Looks like we are going to get to see Denver the Dragon again sooner than I expected. I kind of thought that he was written out of the story in order to maintain Typh’s chastity intact.
@Chaucer:/b>
I really wish you hadn’t pointed that out–now that you have, what it looks like to me is the Typh’s head is actually hollow, and her hair is growing out of it like a plant out of a pot.
Yes, she is. Waaaay back at the start of the comic she attacked Typhan-Knee, but still managed to fend her off with unconventional tactics and feminine modesty.
I have finally recognized the costume design. The is the ’90s bad-a!s version of Tiff. The ‘Tiffinator’. She has the big sword and the duster. She still needs a utility belt with lots of pouches and a pair of dark sunglasses to look cool in. Her unicorn is going to need some spiked armor with flames painted on the sides. Of course this will mean that she will spend most of her time sitting of rooftops and brooding.
The other option for this look is to go ‘Matrix’ style and be all cerebral and mysterious about the ever changing universe around her. She would be known as Triffity. The ‘bullet time’ maneuvers will need to be renamed ‘arrow time’.
Who ever said Denver was written out of the story? I haven’t seen much retcon-ed with the new writer. Give him a chance to explain and us see what is happening. We know time flows differently in the dream and it was made clear something was wrong with the dragons, such as their parents.
Typhon-Knee and Denver both had to grow for there to be more, IMO. If Denver didn’t care and didn’t plan on really coming come back, he would have said as much. Stop being impatient folks. 😉
@IS: It would be endearing if Ash would just accept her fate, get married, and become the loving, obedient wife she’s always, in her heart, wanted to be, even as a male. Her husband would love to push it out of his way before kissing her.
Finally, it would allow itself to be tamed so as not to upset Tiffany’s nursing infant.

Figured Alicia was looking for her brother.
Gosh, Typh, hope you never have to bend over with that buckle.
Why bother lying about Denver? Is it because of the crowd?
Typhan-Knee isn’t exactly lying. He did leave.
Several possibilities.

Charles81: That is the correct translation for the name in this kingdom: http://www.exiern.com/2005/10/23/ok-with-it/
Again though, she’s not exactly lying. The him leaving a note thing is off, but everything else she said is more or less what happened.

O.B. Juan: they are village idiots looking for a new village
Uhl: Good point. This probably also explains Typh’s wrinkled brow in the second frame: she realizes she doesn’t…quite…remember what happened…oh, yeah.
===
Also, her outfit, now that it is revealed, is not all that feminine, nor does it seem to be armor. (Except for the ridiculous belt buckle. Gah.)
It’s just a long, shapeless tunic over leggings. Only the duster gives her any flair.
Look at the URL up there. She’s fibbing.
I suppose we’ll learn more about “why” soon.
@Dan: If she were telling the truth, she’d say, “I don’t know.”
Looks like we are going to get to see Denver the Dragon again sooner than I expected. I kind of thought that he was written out of the story in order to maintain Typh’s chastity intact.
That’s not a belt buckle; that’s a stomacher. Mind you, it’s not a very good one: she’d impale herself if she bent forward.
Bending is for people who can’t keep up. Obviously she’s wearing that as a statement that she doesn’t need to bend for anything.
Typh’s hairline looks weird–like it was drawn with a straightedge.
@Chaucer:/b>
I really wish you hadn’t pointed that out–now that you have, what it looks like to me is the Typh’s head is actually hollow, and her hair is growing out of it like a plant out of a pot.
Typical empty-headed blonde, I guess. 🙂
Oops, sorry about the improperly closed bold tag.
Typhon-Knee is a fibbing fibber who fibs.
Also she has eyebrows like a Vulcan.
Her poor nose has to have grown numb after all that constant rubbing and touching from The Wayward Lock!!
Oh wait, this is Denver’s sister?
Yes, she is. Waaaay back at the start of the comic she attacked Typhan-Knee, but still managed to fend her off with unconventional tactics and feminine modesty.

Does this mean she forgot her and Dragon boy connecting also? That would suck forgeting the first time she was ok with being ok loving someone.

That lock of hair looks so dumb in this.

…What? Why’s everybody looking at me like that?
Ash? Are you in the right comic?
What the hell? I triple checked that closing bold tag.
OK, once more with the bolding.
Chaucer59:
Aargh! Right comic, wrong name. Sheesh. I’m lucky I didn’t call Tiffany Antimony.
Oops.
No surprise that Exiern fans are also following Misfile.
But who is Antimony?
Chaucer59: a character from Gunnerkrigg Court
Of course, it could have been worse–I might have Typhan-Knee Tiffany, a dork boy who got changed into a hot red-head by a genie.
Um, that would have in the Melvin Chronicles.
