Regardless of his ability to handle alcohol, so long as his body isn’t so addicted to the stuff it shakes without it, it’s a really good idea to lay off the sauce before the mission.
I speak from the experience of coming from a long line of drunks. I’ve seen my uncles ask for someone to hold their beer more times than I can count. I know what they’re capable of.
But I also know what they’re capable of *without*. Drunk, they’re impressive. Slightly drunk, they’re amazing. Stone cold sober, they’re unbelievable.
Especially with using a somewhat unfamiliar weapon, Typh wants to be as unbelievable as possible. It’s my impression that part of the reason for the change in type of weapon was for it to be less believable that this was Typh performing this work. Any imprecision caused by the slightest of impairments from some alcohol would jeopardize that.
Of course, I am aware that characters don’t always do what’s smart, regardless of the artist’s best intentions, and probably every artist on the planet disagrees with me about *something*, so this isn’t a prediction of what will happen, just my asserting that I feel the captain is correct here.
I really liked the original style at least as much as any other, even this. Each style differs from the others, and each has its charms. No matter which, the story keeps rolling inexorably along its own path.
“Oh, a bit of Nelson’s blood couldn’t do us any harm
And we’ll all hang on behind!”
[rendered best by the Port Isaac Fisherman’s Friends, available on yew tewb.
This is the first professional artist from way back in 2005 for those out there who don’t know. There has been just a bit of art evolution in the last 15 or so years, though.
I granted Captain Roh’s wish, but it’s not displaying.
Either my comment has gone into moderation review, or was fully blocked. Because I wasn’t sure which type of image code this site would accept, posted 3 varieties, and that many URL’s in a single post tripped a spam filter.
Assuming it’s getting moderated, feel free to trim the excess. 😉
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
She’s a snarky bitch, isn’t she?
It comes with the office.
I thought Typhan-knee was able to handle alchohol again? We saw him drinking the heavy stuff again.

Really like this art style, can we keep it? 🙂
