The movie Bladerunner was released on June 25th 1982. However, it was set in 2019 and that year which once seemed so far away has now since arrived.

So to commemorate the occasion, please enjoy this page by Sean Harrington of Spying With Lana.

The book it was based on however (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?) originally set it in 1992, not unlike the recent Dark Phoenix movie which also got a mention here recently.

A sequel (Bladerunner 2049) was set 30 years after the original and didn’t get released until 35 years later.

In the meantime, please consider contemplating a sci-fi classic and its distinctively well-known soundtrack by Vangelis, the incredibly intriguing (and difficult) path to the big screen as documented in the book Future Noir by Paul Sammon (an intriguing story in its own right), a quite different but classic novel that it is based on (I’d strongly recommend it, it’s a quick read) as well as a beautifully illustrated and rendered comic book adaptation of the original novel. I strongly recommend looking for as many of these if you can, they’re well worth it.

Yes, it’s possible this image might be also acting as a bit of a metaphor for this story as well as a tribute marking a milestone of another which also has had several different versions release during its lifetime as well. You can’t necessarily rule out the possibility of more versions in future either.
