Swords, Sorcery, And Then Some!
Howdy, New Readers! Thanks for reading Exiern!
Written by Scott T. Hicken with art by Antipus, the comic updates Mondays. Please check out the Archive to enjoy the earlier adventures of Typh and Peonie!
Exiern contains mature themes and is best for readers 18+.
Every time I see King Urtica it reminds me of Mel Brooks as King Louis of France in History of the World, Part I. I just keep waiting for him to break the 4th wall, look straight at us and say “It’s good to be the king!”
This played out brilliantly, and we all loved seeing Urticaria get one up on EVERYONE yet again, but this once-a-week timing is killing the continuity. I can barely recall what Typh looks like now, and I’m damned if I can remember where she is or what she’s up to. What’s Typh’s present direction—philosophically speaking? Does she still desire a remedy, or is she resigned to the life of a shield-maiden? Also, now that she’s admitted her orientation, are we going to see a love interest for our erstwhile hero? Many question, most of which would be easier to follow in a twice-weekly or thrice-biweekly format.
Wait, what sort of material are his boxers made out of that they can be reduced to an easily-slipt-into-the-hand size? Not even pure silk can fold up that small!!
I follow several once-per-week comics, and have no problem following the continuity. If you forget what was going on, just…oh, I dunno…hit the PREVIOUS button?
The part I like best? This is a father implicitly informing his daughter and her lover: I am well aware that my child is now a sexually active young adult. I choose to respect her decisions and not apply a double-standard to the child of a man whose own sexual shenanigans in the past year alone have been worthy of bragging about over many drinks. Furthermore, I admire and respect the person she has chosen to be sexually active with and trust him with the responsibility of my child’s welfare and happiness.
@Archone: I think he’s more saying, “I knew, and if I wanted you dead for it, you’d be dead. This make perfect blackmail for the rest of my daughter’s life, so don’t screw up, or I will have you executed for defiling my daughter. And hide it a little better, will you?”
@Nssheepster: No… Urtica seems too mature and sensible to regard his daughter as his pseudo-property like that. He’s already married (briefly) one transgender, proposed to another, had sexual relations with a powerful leader of an assassin’s guild… and that’s just what we’ve seen so far. He doesn’t need to blackmail the man – he’s convinced of the young soldier’s loyalty, and he knows these are orders that the guy WANTS to obey.
Beyond that, he’s just having fun at the poor boy’s expense. (I mean… honestly, does anyone really expect ANYONE to be shocked by the revelation that the Princess has a lover? Hell, considering how many dark rituals call for a virgin sacrifice, defloweration might be considered a precautionary measure…)
Hell, considering how many dark rituals call for a virgin sacrifice…
Do we know if Faden’s ritual had such a requirement? And would he have verified Peony’s eligibility for such a role? Or just made a simplifying assumption?

SUPER
TROLL
PAR
EXCELLENCE
(Hail to the King, baby!)
King just really wanted to make sure the subtext got across…Without having to hit him with that overly large book.
Dat troll face, he would give any politician a run for their money.
HA-HA Busted.
But enough about Princess Peonie.
Captain Phi, go lift that book. 😀
This. This is why we love Urtica!!
I love the king he’s hilarious
Urtica best trollking.
As Math told Halo: “Start thinking three moves ahead” 😀
Princess P-cups has such cute, wriggly, toes 😉
Time to invest in a Kindle, I think.
Urtica really is a sly bastard. I love it.
I hope Urtica had those boxers washed first.

Best. Punchline. Ever.
“It’s GOOD to be the King.”
Like Urtica has EVER been that unobservant….
That’s why he’s the king!

Urtica is such a creeper. 0_0;
“Many question, most of which would be easier to follow in a twice-weekly or thrice-biweekly format.”
Costs money is the thing, though.
Psssh. Really, @Shan, must you cloud the issue with facts?
Ah, too bad, I almost expected him to ask myself, “If these are my boxers then what am I wearing?”
Wait, what sort of material are his boxers made out of that they can be reduced to an easily-slipt-into-the-hand size? Not even pure silk can fold up that small!!
Hammerspace.
The King has big hands.
Called it from the get-go
@Chaucer59
The Power of Science compels me!
Economics isn’t really science, @Shan. More like wishful thinking.
It’s quite empirical here. I bet you:
INCOME – EXPENDITURE = 1 page/week.
We all know what needs to be done courtesy of the Patreon to go 2 pages/week.
… actually, in retrospect, I can see how that could be wishful thinking at $1300/month needed given where it presently is …
I follow several once-per-week comics, and have no problem following the continuity. If you forget what was going on, just…oh, I dunno…hit the PREVIOUS button?
She seems to be having blood flow problems, wonder how that happened?
Ah, the simple joys of being King: having to power to troll your subjects with impunity being one of the greatest.
Andor: logic has no place for many of the trolls 😛
Riniko: what ‘blood flow problems’? o_O
Hurry up and get that book off of Peonie before she loses a cup size!

I just like That the Human King is the worlds biggest Troll in world of real Trolls… 🙂

I think people would be more shocked that she has a steady lover and I bet that’s something that Urtica finds comfort in as well.
Haha! Hail to the King, baby!
He wins the ninja dad award.

When it comes to trolling Urtica is quick to prove just why he is the King.
