Chibiern Classic #12
STH COMMENTARY:
Sometimes it slips the mind that webcomics post page by page over extended periods. What would be easy to understand in the context of reading one page right after another, or in the form of a script, can sometimes be read very differently without the whole picture. Unintended ideas can be concocted during the time between the posting of another page. This Chibiern came at the time of one such icky accident that I think the creative team would rather forget, even if it was resolved very quickly. I’m surprised I even made a joke about it.
I never got the deal with that scene.
If I am not mistaken “who’s you daddy?” is a not uncommon way of dirty talk. So I just asumed she was answering that question. It can really help to just asume that if there are two ways for something to be interpreted, the least offensive one is the intended.
The problem though, often enough Christopher, is that sometimes, we don’t SEE two ways for it to be interpreted, but just one.
Not that I was there for the fracas. But sometimes, people don’t see two options to choose from. I speak from experience here.
It’s a great solipsism to say that when given two choices, pick the least offensive one, but that assumes that people can always see two choices. Sometimes they can’t.
Actually Tssha, most people do, or can, see at least 2 choices/options, they just tend to go with the most offensive one (even if the ‘offense’ is only in their own heads)
