I know the last 4 post are continued from the one before it, or just minutes of each other … it didn’t take Denver long, once they started talking about him changing into a dragon, to come to the point of what may happen when he develops in to his true (adult) form.
Good chance Tiff was thinking it – for quite a while, but it’s Denver’s time to think.
Good Luck, Tadpole.
I think they should let Niels do it. He might have trouble, though. He couldn’t defeat the Mingalow. How could he stand up to someone that destroyed the Mingalow with only his hands?
its fairly obvious you won’t be. your sister ate people dude. and your kind routinely burns families alive(after what appears to be a careful family selection process to provide the best resources) to lay eggs in the embers and nest parasite them.
it’d be pretty damn depressing if they did kiss now, it’d only underscore the inevitability of their respective bullshit/curses and how pointless it is to fight their bodies when they[bodies] decide to change their minds on them
Well, Denver has always wanted to kiss Tiff. He considers it a natural reaction, whereas Tiff inwardly feels it wrong to want to kiss Denver (or at least “fancy” him.) Now if he leans over and snaps her in half with his jaws…that’s his unwanted impulses taking over.
@boffalo not so certain.. Wear they Nice people or evil rich scum? Are the Originals Dead? As for his Sister it was the start of the the Process and no telling if she gained control over time. Not to mention the Nice People she killed and ate wear murdering Bandits that wear trying to gang rape her.. There Human women that would happerly eat there Livers With a Side Of Fava Beans and A Nice Chianti.
You start down a road in life and there are no u turns or do overs. These two are not on the road of their choosing but they may beable to find a detour from their aparent destination.
@Guesticus Quite agree but also a Am I still me? She must realize that she is not the man she was and at this point she might be a new person and that changing back might kill who she is NOW..
Denver’s got a point. His sister is not “herself” anymore, and can’t go back. Furthermore, Tiff’s always been in control of “her” body, personality, mood, etc. and has full memory of the events. Denver just stated that he does not. It’s a terrifying realization for anyone.
Dragons are Brood Parasites, like several creatures on Earth, the most famous of which is the Cuckoo Bird. What Denver’s realized is pretty obvious from his sister and the adult Dragon Tiff’s met already. He will essentially die to be replaced by a virtually unstoppable beast. If I were Tiff, I’d be worried he might try to kill himself.
Oh and Uhl? Tiff was loosing herself too, until Sister Teresa cured her, in the corridor, with a candlestick.
Maybe you won’t be, and maybe that’s part of growing up. By the same reason, you are not the person you were when you were a kid. You retain many of the same personality traits, but you have left behind your childish nature.
I would ask Denver this: What are the qualities of yourself that you most identify, that most desire to not lose?
Speak for yourself MarsCaleb: may have gotten older, might have added a few new interests, but still retain all the old interests and as for leaving “behind your childish nature”? Nope, it’s still right here, matured but not gone
Actually feel sad for those who have lost their childishness (taking it you mean ‘playfullness’ and ‘child-like curiosity’ and ‘trust’ and not ‘tantrums’ and such like)
The sort of thing Bruce Banner would worry about…what happens if I become the Hulk and never return to normal?
Well he’s a bookworm…if I were him I’d be doing a LOT of studying on dragon lore and magic, and see if he can come up with a spell that can ease his transition and allow him to keep his human memories when he finally completes his transformation.
One thing I’ll note is there may be a valid evolutionary reason for the memory/human self loss. Southern dragons life cycle includes murdering entire families and leaving their young in the ashes. The requires a certain loss of empathy and association a lifetime of growing up as a human would create for most people. Kind of how like in the Buffy verse vampires didn’t have souls cause having one would seriously put a cramp in their survival odds.
I don’t see him “overcoming” this with magic or the like. He is a dragon, thats what he is, he’s not exactly becoming dragon, just loosing the human glamour he’s been wearing. But even if he started to try I’ve little doubt that the race memories or the rest of the dragon mind would catch on and put a stop to it, even if it means having him kill all his closest friends or threatening them if he attempts to stop his transformation.
We also can’t be entirely certain that some dragon babies aren’t left behind as other creatures such as horses or… squirrels. The whole deal with changing their babies into another species seems to be magic so I see no reason to discount other species.
Personally I tend to think that Denver’s dragon body will lack his complete mind and being, getting controlled by the dragon “collective” as a whole instead. But I still like to think that part of the transition is the “uploading” of his current being and memories into that collective. I reckon this present turn of events is just part of that transition while his mind remains separate from the collective but the stronger collective gradually exerts more control over his body as the maturity draws closer.
Beyond that, Tiff looks positively feminine. The curse is evidently having a moment in this case. I wouldn’t blame a kiss on the situation. I do wonder just how much of Typh’s situation Denver is really aware of. Considering that Typh is trying to retrieve this item to reverse what the curse is doing I think Denver’s dilemma really fits in.
Very well said Charles: Denver is not cursed, he is currently undergoing a metamorphosis (like a caterpiller is not cursed to turn into a butterfly or a moth)
Also liking the idea of a Dragon Consciousness Collective and Denver’s human experience being ‘uploaded’ into it, making the Denver-Dragon a unique being
Might also explain why his sister ate those soldiers: a lingering memory of what happened during her transformation period
The term dragon “collective” was a theory some member came up with as was race mind, Could just be the Hidden ID. The fact Is while fun we are just guessing. We Do not know after a year his Sister did not turn into a Shape shifting Dragon. We do not know Really anything nor dose Denver.
We are guessing they lose there individual Identity bc in that Arc we found out squirrels serve a collective mind of the All Father squirrel. But We have no reason to believe that Dragon do the same. They might Spend years passing them selves off as humans after they gain there scaly form. Or they might be stuck as Dragons 24/7 But we just Do not Know. I think Denver needs to talk with his sister.
One thing that Speaks Positively in Denver’s Favor. He First Dragoned-out to Save his Friends. If for Dragon Pride why not unscrew Tiff Brothers Head from his body? If for survival why not run away or wait till it killed the Humans? No Denver’s Inner Dragon Saved HIS/Denver’s FRIENDS. That at least hints that the Dragon at least partly based on the Human Persona.
@jonathan, we also know that at least one full grown dragon didn’t go on a rampage when it had the chance. Even given that it recognized Denver, it could have killed everyone else, and didn’t.
I think that one instance, combined with what you said about Denver suggest that not all dragons end up in the same place mentally and emotionally.
I thought Denver first “Dragon’ed Out” because someone burned a book…
The Journal of an Elf pirate if memory serves me right… I guess Exiern has elves… I hope they all follow the naming convention like Captain Kersmak *LOL*

@jonathan,
Keep in mind that D&D elves are descended from Tolkien Elves, which are derived from Norse elves, which were more human-like in stature and relation. They aren’t the Anglo-Saxon or Germanic elves. It’s not an ew-yuk ‘DnD/Disney’ messing up myths thing. If WotC/Disney did anything wrong its that they keep trying to mix different kinds of elves into one. Personally I don’t mind either way, as long it’s clearly one or the other. Elrond is not a Keebler elf.

Tiff do you know what that feels like?
If they don’t kiss after all this I’m going to hack something apart.

Well, I sure hope that Tiff can do better than that.

I like how the artist made Tiff look feminine while she is all bundled up.
There needs to be some smooching here.

Tiff’s eyes in the last panel: she’s just realised “What if there is no way back for me?”

As for Tiff’s ‘femininity’, believe that is just the “Magic of the Hood” (it is not the first time she has looked decidedly Princess P-cups-y)

Just watch and fear what a shoe goblin can do to a small dragon:

Actually, Johnathon, Fayden mentioned that dragons have a collective mind in the “all squirrel” incident.
