“Sorry, my girlish screaming is out of practice”.
I guess they think that between the two of them they should be able to take it down without much problem. So better play it safe and perhaps even figure out a weakspot or three – in case they ever meet one later on thier own.
Following standard narrative procedure, there’s no way that Niels and Tiff will be able to defeat the Mingalow menace in a straightforward way. The build-up has simply been too big.
It will pull out a new nasty trick. Most likely, there’s another one or two around, which is why it screeched so loudly (to call for help). Remember that Maraw’s brother was trapped under the snow with two others (in http://www.exiern.com/2013/05/14/not-the-one-with-the-jheri-curl). I’m going to predict that the two heroes dispatch this one (barely), but then two more show up.
Most likely, that screech will attract Maraw, whose brother is currently an unresolved plot line. It’s possible that Denver (who studied demonic possession) or Peonie (who “invented” these things) might know of a weakness.
Niels might try to nobly sacrifice himself to save everyone else, but it won’t work. He’s currently not expendable because of the major unresolved plot line in http://www.exiern.com/2012/08/09/wilsoning.
@jonathan, that depends on the nature of what was done to him, it may not be as simple as undoing the magic. But it is a possibility. Depends if the brother will join the party or keep hunting or if the mingalow is killed here.
I think its simpler than his brother planning this, After all how would he of known about the quest? The Shaman gave them the Quest and the then they went right out. No you are over thinking it…This IS Fate and Fate it HATES TIFF! What Gods that may still be Love Screwing with her!

You know, while the thing is on it’s face in the snow, she should go for the kill, not stand there chuckling.
With nightmarish demons, standing there chuckling might be the closest thing to going for the kill you get.
now is the perfect time for that things backup to show up
Depends on how far back she is, if she rushes in she puts herself at a disadvantage, specially if it turns out to be quicker than they expect
For now, it looks like they are ‘sizing it up’ to see all it can do
Go, Neils! It was certainly an advantage to have you in the party.
Yep its still bleeding. No regeneration. Not so tough… I am alone right ? what that noise ?? excuse me got change my underwear.
The mingalow acutally DOES have some regenerative properties, but it’s not like wounds seal immediately.

Just what size is that thing? It seems to vary in every panel.
This particular mingalow is about 4 meters tall, give or take a handful of centimeters.
It’s also a bit on the smaller side for those of its kin.

Of course, they’ll be “hunting” his prey, and he won’t be happy about that (http://www.exiern.com/2013/05/07/hunting-party-of-one).

@JD: Don’t worry. She’s got plenty of time to stand there chuckling, because talking is a free action.
@danz actually another possibility is Maraw shows up and points out that what they’re fighting isn’t his brother before they finish it off.
THEN the others arrive.
Hey did anyone else just realize this Sword that Tiff wants that reverses all Magical transformations could cure Mr Outsider Possessed Pussy Cat?

I think most of us realized that awhile ago
and some decided it may be why the tiger attacked them at the beginning, so they wouldn’t kill this thing
