I am all for women holding the rights of man, i just sorta wish it never from a man turn into a women. Then again, there seems to be a lady in this village i bet be right for the job.
Tj, yeah, I agree with you, I always hated poor aesops like this one.
Apparently the moral of the story is that women deserve to be equal…. but it takes a man (transformed into a woman) to make them equal.
Not to mention the fact that barbarians value STRENGTH. While yes, a sufficiently trained woman will have an advantage over an untrained man, all other things being equal, a man will always have an advantage in physical combat due to greater size and muscle mass.
Especially in hand-to-hand combat (the type favored by the barbabians), men and women are simply NOT equal.
Olinser,
advantage in physical combat due to greater size and muscle mass.
And… idiots will be idiots. Yeah, things are never equal. No fighting style is equally as good for men and women. There are quite a few that favor women, though, and make men look like asses if they ever try to learn.
Are we really discussing women’s rights/equality issues here? seriously guys this is a fictional situation located in a fictional settlement of barbarians set in a backwards time with magic and sword fights are common.
If you ask me this is just a comic and Typh is just the only person around with the “Balls” to openly challenge and possibly beat his brother. If there was another women that felt they could do it or had the will to do it then I’d imagine they would ether try or have tried and failed. Mind you we have already been introduced to a strong female barbarian, however if I had to guess I think she has a “Thing” for Typh’s brother so is laying low.
On the bright side of that prediction, I see Typh knocking her brother senseless then her stepping in for some 1 on 1 Female mud wrestling. =P
I’ve fought men and women all out, even in life and death battles (I was a cop for many years in a very rough area), and I can tell you one thing. Women can be hella mean and they fight dirty. guys tend to underestimate them and they use that, as is only right, in a fight. You use whatever you have to win, otherwise why bother fighting at all? good on Tiff. An doh yeah, it IS JUST A FRACKIN’ COMIC! So let’s drop the whole gender equality debate in favor of Tiff in a metal bikini or a fur one?
Strength, does not have to be physical, strength of mind can be just as powerful (and favoured) as strength of body
Reason why Princess Diana hasn’t challenged Melanoma for leadership yet? Probably doesn’t want the position (and no, that is not a cliche copout answer: just because you could take over doesn’t mean you want to, like Tiff in this very issue)
“But I would rather see you whole, whatever that may be.”
Reading that last line, I can’t help but think that if Drowemos were still running the comic, the old man would have already seen more of Tiff than he needs to.
Heh, can’t say I’m surprised by that line in the first panel. Or else Peonie might have been forced to grow some gray matter to take Tiff’s place as main chararcter, cuz let’s be honest a beefcake barbarian is half as interesting as a cheesecake one 😛
James there’s a whole world of ladyboys, TS/TG and crossdressers out there, and we’re in more danger of having spacetime collapse due to the experiments going on at CERN.
NB: there’s absolutely no danger of that happening due to the experiments going on at CERN.
@James: That is why it is good that Tiff is not a man – She’s a woman with experience as a man. Arguably she would be more woman than most because this insight would make directing men easier.
(If this is sexist then I truly apologize for any offense I may cause in advance)
@M: Ladyboys and cross-dressers are not women (though TS/TG is up for debate). Thus they would not actually understand women.
I think we are seeing something here very important. I could easily see the shaman having been the one to send the assassins as some have said. A way to get her up here to change things. Or it could be others. But I see the story line that could support that idea. But there’s also something here that I see. He likes Typh/Tiff enough that even though he wants to use the warrior to change his clan, he would settle for the warrior simply deciding what he or she wants. The shaman appears to be a friend. Period. End of Line. Whether or not he sent the assassins to get Tiff’s attention and bring her up here or not, he truly does seem to want to help a tortured friend find peace.
Wow. The twisted storylines this comic brings to mind.
This seems more about aligning sex and gender. Sex, being the physical form and Gender, being mental. No matter what form you have, you’re still you. Typhan-nee just needs to decide if he wants to be who he was or accept what he’s become or if he can find balance between the two.

Wait, is Tiffany (Typhan) accepting her new gender?
I am all for women holding the rights of man, i just sorta wish it never from a man turn into a women. Then again, there seems to be a lady in this village i bet be right for the job.
Ummm … is Tiff saying she might decide to stay female?
Wait, Tiff either goes back to being Typh, or she has to become the new, female, leader? And if she returns to Typh, he will become the new leader?
Either way, it will mean the end of her fun times in the South
Is she wearing lip gloss?

Vote, vote, vote! 😛
Glad to see she might stay this way. Help that huntress
“Apparently the moral of the story is that women deserve to be equal…. but it takes a man (transformed into a woman) to make them equal.”
I’m amused by this line because that’s actually not the moral of this story at all. You’ll see what I mean as I start drawing the strings together.
So Typh is slowly but surely finding enlightenment in Urtica’s service? WOW! Talk about character development.

Option:
Tiff muddies the waters (re males/female rights) but refuses to challenge Mel for leadership. Diana steps in and does so.

I’d like to say good job to the writers and artists for a beautifully drawn comic that keeps us guessing. Keep up the good work.

is only half as*
Xenau – Which half?
Just as you never see young dragons, you never see young unicorns.
Tiff is really a unicorn.
Im sorry, but a man cant become a woman. man was never ment to understand women. the world would implode, time and space would collapse on itsself

@David My life is impoverished by the fact that there’s no mechanism that will let me upvote your comment.
@RetCop @Xenau: And on that note, I vote for Diana in a fur bikini. Or less.
Yeah I have to agree with TJ as well. Not a fan of men turning into women, or women turning into men.
