Ok so correct me if I am wrong but priests said that Tiff’s curse only be lifted when she becomes her vision of women right? And there is a dark man at the end of a ice dessert. Tiff’s vision of woman is akin to a wife that does chores and births kids so I call it now that dark man is Tiff’s future husband 😛
Riniko: that’s not a curse, that’s a birth defect, Typh inherited it from his father (why do you think Behrs shaved everything off except for his giant rats tail?)
Eh? Not sure what you’re talking about. I do remember one of the priests saying the curse could only be broken by a thaumaturge, and they’re all raving evil megalomaniacs. Or something.
So, I have been thinking. Way back in the beginning of Exiern, the whole premise of this story is that Fayden grabbed an incorrect book off his shelf. A book that shouldn’t have even been there. He even said something like “Who has been messing with my spell books?”
So I was thinking, wouldn’t it be cool if we ended up with a story line that explained that? Like if Tiff later finds herself in a plot where she is forced to go back in time and plant that book on Fayden’s shelf herself, thus ensuring that all of these events come to pass, even her own curse.
I was thinking too……What if if the curse isn’t what we think it is, Faden was casting from not only the wrong book, but white magic as well, what if Tiff turning Female, was breaking a curse not casting one.
JMV: As I find time travel storylines to be horribly contrived narrative filler conjured by creators who don’t have any better ideas and decide to put the story in neutral while they pretend to show how clever they are by demonstrating they understand what a “paradox” is (they don’t, actually)… you’re going to have to wait until a new writer comes aboard to have any hope of seeing that.
In that case, long may that day never arrive (unless they also are fated to bring back the lingerie shots, miss those even if never get to see the ‘good’ stuff)
@norman728, Faden was not casting curse from book it was a spell either he already knew or was some other spell that he put too much white magical energy. Only spell he casted from book was summoning Unicorn he than stoped using books and tried to use his own memorised spells.
Close Green, Faden was trying to summon a Uricarn, but someone messed with his books and he grabbed the wrong one. He also did use another book that resulted in the curse (bet the first thing he’s going to do if he ever goes back is reorganize his bookshelves)
Honestly? I’m not sure how much of the _really_early stuff is still canon – most of that first scene was pretty tongue-in-cheek, and Faden seems like a much different spell caster during their trip through the forest – an evil wizard (book magic) in the castle, an evil sorcerer (blood magic) in the forest.
That ‘desert ice’ line reminds me of the lyrics in ‘A Horse With No Name’:
“The ocean is a desert, with it’s life underground,
And a perfect disguise above. “
@Guesticus: It would depend on what “early stuff” you are referring to.
I have not, as of this point, retconned anything done before. Drowemos has himself removed some things (the Tiffany “rape and pillage the village” boast, for example).
Was talking about everything left from the first page up to when they dumped Faden in the prison and took th keys off of the brainwashed guard (stopped before she started to beat all the guards back to their senses)
Regarding the curse: It’s like a Chinese finger trap; the more Tiff fights the curse, the harder it is to break. By wanting to retain her (er…his?) masculine attributes, Tiff is preventing the curse from breaking.
as for Time travel: Please don’t knock it outright, chemiclord; It can be done quiet well, and often is. But I do agree that it acts as a “neutral plot” mechanism, often acting as a ‘deus ex machina’ or an inside joke. Still, I don’t think it would work in Exiern.
And Back to the Future got it way wrong. Just saying.
Be a Producer! Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
Hope the curse he is referring to is that lock of hair that is always in her face.
Riniko! Stop spoiling things! Jesus!
This is the last time I tell you anything!
is it about the curse of how her clothing allows her nude almost as much as the princess?
A dark man, is it? A member of Faden’s order?
@Riniko/chemiclord: *LOL*
Ok so correct me if I am wrong but priests said that Tiff’s curse only be lifted when she becomes her vision of women right? And there is a dark man at the end of a ice dessert. A ‘dark man’ who can remove Tiff’s curse? Bet it’s Faden. Storywise, it’s about time for him to come back.
Umm, a ‘dark man’ could be literal
Riniko: that’s not a curse, that’s a birth defect, Typh inherited it from his father (why do you think Behrs shaved everything off except for his giant rats tail?)
no, thats how to complete it/make it permanent
thats the opposite of what he wants
What if the curse he’s talking about is still having the mind of a male barbarian?
@Greenstalker:
Eh? Not sure what you’re talking about. I do remember one of the priests saying the curse could only be broken by a thaumaturge, and they’re all raving evil megalomaniacs. Or something.
Doesn’t matter what body shi is in, it will always be the mind of a male barbarian because is who shi is!!
Do not have to ‘magically’ turn it into a female mind, that won’t work, Tiff just needs to accept a new way of thinking
@Mogster: It was during ball in name of princess return. here is the link http://www.exiern.com/2011/06/13/thats-to-be-expected/
Also @@Greenstalker he clearly said that curse can only be breaks after Tiff becomes her expectations of a woman.
Desert Ice… Am i the only one thinking ice cream?

You know, The Dark Man…The Walkin’ Dude!

If the early stuff is no longer canon, does that mean Tiff was born an hermaphradite and hir early years were being disguised as a boy?
That might explain why hir mother attacked Behrs: after Behrs ‘attacked’ Tiff
@Guesticus: It would depend on what “early stuff” you are referring to.
I have not, as of this point, retconned anything done before. Drowemos has himself removed some things (the Tiffany “rape and pillage the village” boast, for example).
It says the curse ends when Tiff reaches a state where here physical and mental state match her expectations for a woman.
What if she changes her expectations to a more Xena like woman. That would be easy for Tiff to accept and should break the curse.
BTW the prophesy is clearly a trap.
Was talking about everything left from the first page up to when they dumped Faden in the prison and took th keys off of the brainwashed guard (stopped before she started to beat all the guards back to their senses)
Was thinking that as well richd

I wonder if there more than one curse/Spell? What if its not what Tiff thinks?
Heh. The uricarn Faden was trying to summon ended up over in The Wotch, where someone – probably Anne – was trying to summon a unicorn.
Drowemos said he did it that way for fun…
That sequence in The Worch begins here.
No, actually that was Cassie. Anne had to fix the mess.
She seemed to have sent the Unicarn to the “Plain of Suck” in Looking For Group.
Thing is, the book clearly had the Unicarn image on the cover so Faden should have known he had the wrong book… Must have just arrived.
