Young bull is that their best insult? bah, and i was hoping our armored bear would do some axe throwing but i guess they might still be able to p!!s off the dragon
Those geezers should indeed mind their own business. Neils’ chopping wood is probably one of very few things that currently keep him from chopping up large parts of their tribe… Poor bastard.
@Rex: Young bull is not an insult. He’s stating that he is young and strong, but also “less tamed”. As such he believes Neils is pissed because he was not put to do something that he “rightfully deserves” since he is, as he perceive, among the bests.
He is not talking ill of Neils, he’s just speaking about youth the way the barbarians perceives and talk about.
@Rukh: I’m looking at it at Neils perspective rather than the barbarians and considering what happened to him every single word coming from the barbarians are basically insults unless he somehow doesn’t hold any grudges… Yeah, I doubt it too.
Actually, calling him a ‘young bull’ is a kind of an insult, it’s like calling him a ‘cocky young whiper-snapper’: being compared to a ‘young bull’ is not a compliment (guess you need to know how a young bull acts/behaves to understand)
What those layabouts don’t understand, is that Neils has earned his ‘herd’
Got wonder what that armor dose. It’s magic, no way the king would let His Elite Guards not have Enchants with access to a gaggle of spell singers and who knows what.My guesses/ Suggestions, Stamina increase, None encumbering, Environmental Protection , due to there job as Personal Guards maybe enhanced Hearing/senses? Would Explain why the Armors never off. Would be like he was blind with out it. Anther possibility is it hides or compensates for a weakness like a missing leg or could be Blind.Way back we saw the Priests doing some nasty procedure to one of the Guards maybe the armors to hide that, Could Neil Be a DreadKnight some type of undead? Could see the King do that “we just paint them White and no one will ever know!” The last Possibility can can guess at is more real world,An Oath/Vow to never remove his aror in Public. These are just supposition.
@Dragondeathlord – haven’t we seen either Neils or Bohr get enchanted? I don’t think it has any magic protections of that type. (WHY ISN’T THERE A PROPER ARCHIVE LINK?)
Calling him “young bull” may or may not be insulting. Calling him “Neils” likely is. I can’t believe that there is not a single comment in this batch spelling his name correctly so far. It’s “Niels”.
Is everyone sooo easily distracted by a suit of armour making toothpicks that you have all forgotten something important? Princess Peonie was stripping off her wet clothes!!!!
And here i thought if a wood cutting axe were to show in the barbarian village it would closer resemble an American frontier utilitarian style axe (usually double sided for balance and convince sharpening wise or a singe blade but a large counter balance rather than old European commercial axes that weren’t balanced (thank modern marvels))
Agree with Shirou: when chopping the wood into firewood/kindling, you let the weight of the axe do most of the work, you just need to put the wood in place and lift the chopper (lift, let go)
Nah, he’s just like Judge Dredd: he removes his helmet, but never reveals his terrible helmet-hair. Niels & Bohr wear their armour all the time in public because they make Chewie look like a chiauaua
Be a Producer!Your name/title with an optional SFW hyperlink will be posted prominently HERE following the close of the month! You’ll also receive monthly mailings from Exiern’s author, Scott T. Hicken!
Just because there’s steel over his ears doesn’t mean that they don’t work just fine.
I forget, is this Neils or Bohr?
Anyway, barbarian men, you don’t want to get on the bad side of anyone who can work an axe so easily, AND is wearing armor besides.
Its Neils

At that rate, the chopping block is not going to last long.

But Neils, them being those two old guys muttering about the “youth of today” is there job. Stock fantasy trope, innit. You gotta have them.

Funny thing about that throwaway line… Neils ain’t that young.
You don’t get to be an “elite guard” to king Urtica unless you can control your emotions pretty well.
That armored hand at the last panel sure looks odd.

And we have (kinda) seen Neils without his helmet on

@Guesticas Like we haven’t seen that before.
What, you have grown tired of it already? O_o Some of us still like looking at beautiful pictures
As someone who splits wood to keep the snow outside, I will say:
1: This is the work of a splitting maul, not an axe. You let the weight of the maul do most of the work.
2: That axe is either huge! or the wood is short.
Carry on.
@David actually his name is Neils and not Niels
Agree with Shirou: when chopping the wood into firewood/kindling, you let the weight of the axe do most of the work, you just need to put the wood in place and lift the chopper (lift, let go)
@Guesticus Good for her….
Now, lets see Neils take his armor off. Now THAT is something I’d like to see.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Niels_Bohr
@jmucchiello still that leaves Vows there got to be a reason. Wear Armor 24 / 7 you get the creeping Crud !
Nah, he’s just like Judge Dredd: he removes his helmet, but never reveals his terrible helmet-hair. Niels & Bohr wear their armour all the time in public because they make Chewie look like a chiauaua
Hope this clears any and all misunderstanding about “Neils” identity.
